drowningman: since the VT band are back together, it would make sense that they would get on a tour like this. I wonder if they are going to bring back monster fest. they went on a before 7pm and played like 6 songs. during the last song, "they" anthem song, the since put the mic backwards in the audience. I was surprised the young kids knew their songs.

misery signals: since their new cd's have been in most people's CD players non-stop for a few months now, I'm pretty sure the crowd was singing along as loud as jesse, the singer. when they got to the 3rd song, they sent it out to me. thanks guys. At the end of their set, jayTUS turned to me and said something like "all I want is for them to play that last song again." The only thing missing from their set that was missing was the fact that the crowd couldn't get up on stage to swarm them during their set. I wonder if they will be on the main stage at NEMHF2005.

zao: they started up and song #1 was um... I don't know.. the vocals were all high-screams and the esential dry scream of zao didn't pop up in the song at all. after that the vocals went back to what you would expect from them. the set was mostly new songs, but they played 1 or 2 old ones. at one point the singer threw the metal horns... always odd when a xtian band does that.

everytime i die: some of their music is a little too much on CD, but live is a different story. they some times oddly remind me of lickgoldensky. seems like mostly young girls and boys go crazy for them. a lot of kids crowd surfed and some people actually got up on stage and dove.
this convo actually happend.
crowd "whoah"
keith, the singer "Is that joey lawrence? he's not been out of the picture long enough to be funny again. you gotta give it 2 years"
crowd "whoah"
keith "or 2 seconds"
then I think the singer taunted the pats fans in the audience.

dillinger escape plan: talk about bright lights. they use more lights than overkill... but on the good side, I think it made my pictures come out really well. they had lot more time than all the other bands and then have a pretty good catalog of music so they played a spread of songs and not just new ones, baby's first coffin, running board, mullet, good dogs, destro (last time I heard this songs was the live version of the relapse sampler), and a bunch of others. Thankfully, they went light on the smoke this time (usualy, their smoke machines are set to slayer). their guitarist, brian, was replaced on the trip by one of their friends. it seems that brian's got a pinched nerve that he's attending to. I was there until the last minute waiting for the other guitar player to climb up something high and jump off, but he didn't.

that joey lawrence thing is funny, but that guy shouldn't be taunting patriots fans. what has buffalo ever done? lose 4 superbowls in a row? yes. get their asses kicked today? yes.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Oct 4,2004 7:23am
he was taunting them with something like "make up 17 games in a row? you can't count pre-season! it's a mathmatical fact that buffalo has lost 3 games in a row, that's science. you can't jump make up games." and then paused and said "whatever, you guys have the best team in the league or whatever. I don't even care."

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Oct 4,2004 7:24am
I think the funniest thing is when DEP finished, someone in the audience started yelling "PSYOPUS!" over and over.

toggletoggle post by anonymous at Oct 4,2004 8:56am
Patriots suck.... I was the one clapping when he said that.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Oct 4,2004 9:00am edited Oct 4,2004 9:03am
oh! and there was also a kid that came up to me while I was talking to jenna.
he took me totally by surprise. on my way back home from the june 17 2002 show at the edge in augusta me, the highway was stopped up for over an hour. everyone got out of their cars and was just standing socializing in the highway. I talked music with a kid from maine and we traded cds. I gave him a lovage cd and he gave me a hansome boy modeling school cd. Anyhow, that kid said hi to me at the show... 2.3 years later.. what good memory that kid had!
thread from that show mentioning getting that cd

toggletoggle post by JayTUS   at Oct 4,2004 9:27am
Yeah, the Pats suck alright. Hahahaha. Anyone that actually thinks that knows absolutely nothing about football, and Keith was probably just pissed because the Pats beat the Bills yesterday...

hey jay, did you say the kid who asked you if you knew me was at this show or at that show when you were in NY?

i was excited for drowningman, but i was honestly pretty disappointed. it was ok, but i didn't recognize too many of the songs. misery signals and zao were awesome as usual. this was my first time seeing DEP, after trying like 500000 times. i was thoroughly impressed...and to top it all off, a hilarious fight broke out. here are the details for those that don't know, from my friend who works at the palladium:

big huge kid is dancing, hitting kids and throwing them around for no reason, big news ey?...i don't know if he hit this other kid in a red shirt, or if he was talking shit about the huge kid, but the huge kid started with the kid in the red shirt, then walked away, then went back in like 2 seconds and started beating the crap out of him. security broke it up, and took out the huge kid, but the fucking kid in the red shirt just started fighting the palladium staff, not realizing that they were trying to help him...so he got the shit beat out of him by the staff, then tossed out. he then tossed around every time i die's equipment on the sidewalk outside, and thus got his ass tossed into the road, where he got hit by a car. he just got up and started beating the car up...what a winner.

rev: did you hear me yell "I CAN'T HEAR YOU REVEREND AARON! AAAH-HA-HOOOOW!!!!!"? haha

Did anyone videotape this show? DEP was amazing.. drop me one if someone you know of might have taped it cuz I'd love to work something out. aarakelian78@hotmail.com

MFR: after the show, across the palladium, with ear plugs in and crappy music blaring, I heard my name. why don't you look in the randomshots.

anonymous: the kid with the video camera got booted.

i didn't know drowningman was playing. that's crazy

toggletoggle post by RATM34 at Oct 4,2004 10:18pm
can i just mention best/funniest mosh pit ever during dillinger?

highlights: conga line, disco dancing, break dancing, swaying, the robot, and other general craziness.

glad to see some people were out there to have some fun instead of just beating the shit out of people.

Another Blabbermouth mention....

Injury Forces THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN Guitarist To Sit Out U.S. Tour - Oct. 4, 2004
THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN guitarist Brian Benoit has suffered a pinched nerve in his arm and has been forced to sit out the group's current U.S. tour. The group's official statement on the matter reads as follows: "Just in case any of you caught the first two shows on our current tour and are wondering how Brian changed from looking like Luke Skywalker into a modern day Krishna (think Ray Cappo), well it's because that isn't Brian. In the most basic terms, Brian is out of commision right now with an arm injury, leaving him unable to play on this current tour, so our buddy James is filling in for him for the next few weeks until after Brian gets surgery and has had time to recover. Brian will still be on the tour hanging out and filling our 'dude with the Luke Skywalker haircut' quotient. And keeping our median age higher then any band we play with. So when you do come out to the shows, which I know you little fuckers will, come bearing gifts, high fives and kisses. Peace out."

Photos of THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN's October 3 performance with their stand-in guitarist at The Palladium in Worcester, MA have been posted online at ReturnToThePit.com.
