i have the most seniority here and volunteered the most (1 to 10) shifts..this is SUPPPOSED to be a 8 to 5 salaried job..

ANYHOW

someone else got it off and when i asked my boss his initial reply was no and then i told him my bf and i are going to visit my family the day before (leaving after work)

anyhow, after he said no..he said he would check with his boss but it's probably no..and i told him...well "your" boss gave the other girl the day off...

it depends on where you work. At the place I worked for the last 2 and a half years, If you did that they would write you up and then give you the day off when you ask for it in the future, because taking the day off if you want it shows them who's boss, and write-ups at Olive garden are worthless.

So, if you think you're in control, take the day off. either they'll fire you or they'll start giving you the days you request off. either way you'll be feeling more respect for yourself. Where do you work anyway?

If theyre lucky enough to get an advanced warning that im not coming in and they still tell me "no", they can go fuck themselves if they think im actually gonna show up.

well i've worked in food service and if someone did that they would just fired but since you have a corporate job you should probably ask co-workers or even talk to human resource or see if it's talked about in your emplyee handbook.

fuck them. if you asked for the day off well in advance, and you really need it off, take it off. if you are worried about possibly losing your job then go explain your situation to your boss's boss

i did that once. i liked having the day off so much, i decided to take the next one off too. no one called me the first time, but when i took the next day off, someone called me and told me i was supposed to be at work, so i told her i didn't want to work there anymore and enjoyed a nice month of unemployment before getting a better job.

As far as I know, if you're fired your fucked. But maybe not. You could always create a robotthat would make you obsolete, forcing their hand in laying you off.

but if you're fired you have to go to an unemployment hearing.

my sister was fired from her job in may and was denied unemployment at her hearing.

i didn't even try to get unemployment at that job. they would probably call it abandonment and tell me to fuck myself. i was laid off from my last job a couple months ago, but i figured i would make do with the money i have saved up instead of collecting unemployment. i have 3 nice interviews coming up this week, so hopefully one of them will lead to a job.
