I turned my car on a little while ago to let it warm up so the ice would melt, and all that. I just went out there and the car was off, but the key was still in the on position. I started it back up again and it started over heating. I might just need alittle anti freeze, hopefully thats it, comments please.

toggletoggle post by Christraper at Jan 20,2005 12:05pm
how long since youve had an oil change?

toggletoggle post by Aegathis  at Jan 20,2005 12:09pm
not that long, could use another one now though. i kinda doubt the radiator and the water pump are broken cause last time those went, it was leaking anti freeze everywhere. Doesnt look like anything is leaking.

toggletoggle post by assuck   at Jan 20,2005 12:14pm
you havent pissed off the mafia or anything, have you?

cause that'll do it

toggletoggle post by largefreakatzero at Jan 20,2005 12:15pm
Bring it out to a low-traffic area, cut the fuel line and light a match. Be sure to park the car downhill so the fuel line feeds the fire. Of course this is only useful if A. you have insurance or B. you have a complete beater that would be worth the entertainment to torch.

toggletoggle post by assuck   at Jan 20,2005 12:17pm
i like that idea

i'm gonna go buy a car just for that purpose

toggletoggle post by Aegathis  at Jan 20,2005 12:28pm
no i havent pissed off the mafia, and if theres something wrong with it im sure it will ignite itself before i even get to a low traffic area with it.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jan 20,2005 12:47pm
it's probably your thermostat on the radiator.
it didn't tell the fan to turn on.
$9 part, 5 minutes to change.

toggletoggle post by Aegathis  at Jan 20,2005 1:02pm
some one told me my thermostat mighta been fucked a while ago, cause it takes to damn long for the car to heat up and stay warm. So it aint something id have to take it to a shop for? i hope its not, but if it is two of my band mates are mechanics, I am sure they would be of some assistance.

toggletoggle post by KeithMutiny  at Jan 20,2005 4:13pm
im a licensed mechanic, id say its the t-stat, what kind of car is it? and be careful, if you keep letting it overheat you could warp the head, and thats BAAAAD

toggletoggle post by Aegathis  at Jan 20,2005 4:28pm
its a dodge neon, and i just took it out for a test and no dice, it over heated. Im looking into going back over to where i left it and taking the thermostat out. From what Mike(Leukorrhea) told me that might be it.

toggletoggle post by Abbath at Jan 20,2005 4:42pm
you need dry gas in the fuel tank ant, when it rained or snowed i had the same problem with the sprint the car would just shut off, dry gas cost like a buck, but it should do the trick

ya but that would be if it were just cutting out, that has nothing to do with overheating

What you need to do is get an HKS exhaust, some bright green BREMBO brakes, a big discolored wing from a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IV, some NOS, a big TYPE R decal for the side of your car, and rebadge it with Acura logos. If you do this and move to Revere you will be a god amongst men.

Tan in a can baby, tan in a can.

I think i may have gone beyond a problem with the thermostat, i was reading somewhere that somebodys neon was overheating and it blew the head gasket. Id much rather it only be the thermostat, cause thats a lot cheaper

toggletoggle post by KeithMutiny  at Jan 20,2005 5:53pm
if you check the oil and its milky looking, or there is anti-freeze in it, its the head gasket...

toggletoggle post by Aegathis  at Jan 20,2005 5:56pm
i checked the oil, i cant comment on whether or not its milky looking, and i see no traces of anti freeze on the stick.

toggletoggle post by KeithMutiny  at Jan 20,2005 6:04pm
the "milkly" look is air in the oil, so make sure nothing resembles that... kinda looks like its been stirred up really fast

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jan 20,2005 6:06pm
I'm the one that said themosts...
why don't you just try it?

a problem with your car getting/staying warm is your heating coil and has nothing to do with the thermostat. Does your fan turn on?

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jan 20,2005 6:07pm
ps: if your car over heats, you run the risk of blowing the head gasket.
problem is that the parts for a head gacket = $70... but it costs like $500 cause you need to replace all the gaskets.

...and i used to get paid by people that blew it $78 an hour pro-rated at 9 hours at best, sometimes up to 12

toggletoggle post by Aegathis  at Jan 20,2005 7:09pm
well the plot thickens, now its leaken the anit freeze i put in, so that obviously means it needs some surgery. But the funny thing is now the heater is workin, and it didnt over heat while i last had it on

toggletoggle post by hoser at Jan 20,2005 7:10pm
Sounds like it overheated due to little, no anti-freeze which could be caused by a leaky radiator or a bad water pump. Get it checked out.

toggletoggle post by Aegathis  at Jan 20,2005 8:09pm
that would really suck if its either of the 2 seen as how ive had both of them replaced with in the past year. Even though that more than likely that case.

toggletoggle post by dalethepuke at Jan 20,2005 9:01pm
take a shit in the heater and hide a gun in the under the seat beside your bottle of nerve tonic

toggletoggle post by Aegathis  at Jan 20,2005 9:47pm
Im all out of nervtonic, and I'm afraid I might fall in the heater.

toggletoggle post by BobNOMAAMRooney at Jan 20,2005 9:53pm
Put in more subwoofers and buy a cd of Mexican dance music, that should solve your problems.

toggletoggle post by Aegathis  at Jan 20,2005 10:51pm
i wish it would be that easy, replacing the radiator and water pump is like getting a root canal.

toggletoggle post by KeithMutiny  at Jan 20,2005 11:37pm
if you only did them a year ago, i would tend to think thats not the problem... where do you live? cause i have a vaccum to charge the system and then you can see where the leak is comming from

toggletoggle post by BornSoVile   at Jan 20,2005 11:43pm
new england winter = the 7th level of hell for cahs

toggletoggle post by Aegathis at Jan 21,2005 12:06am
I live on the cape, i just maybe bringing it over to where mike(Leukorrhea drummer) works tomorow. Is the cape too far from you?

toggletoggle post by KeithMutiny  at Jan 21,2005 12:10am
yea, thats like 2 hours or so

toggletoggle post by Aegathis at Jan 21,2005 12:39am
yea it sucks living here

toggletoggle post by Aegathis at Jan 21,2005 12:39am
if the car can make it that far, than i would think its safe to say its alrite

toggletoggle post by Aegathis  at Feb 3,2005 4:28pm
Well, 2 weeks later and shes acting up again. The engine is shaking around and you can feel it in the car, especially when you accelerate it. I have a feelin its the alternator, which i had replaced not even 2 years ago!! Are they really only supposed to last just that long?I have this feeling because its showing pretty much the same symptoms as back then. The battery light flashed for a quick second.

toggletoggle post by BornSoVile   at Feb 3,2005 4:31pm
i don't think it would be the alternator. something to do with transmission/raditor.

toggletoggle post by Aegathis  at Feb 3,2005 4:37pm
hmmm,Im just hoping it aint too big of a deal. And hopefully it will make it to mikes house tonight so i can hear his 2 cents. But i dont think its gonna last much longer tonight. I was driving around 80 on the highway this morning and it sounded/ran fine then. But then when i took the turn off the exit and stopped thats when its started. And several hours latyer after being in the parking lot this whole time, i think it sounds even worse.

toggletoggle post by Aegathis  at Feb 3,2005 5:11pm
why must cars have to suck

toggletoggle post by Hooker  at Feb 3,2005 5:26pm
did you clear a path for the tail pipe to vent properly? if not, run it again and sit in the car until you fall asleep.

toggletoggle post by swamplorddvm  at Feb 3,2005 5:26pm
Cars have round things called TIRES.

toggletoggle post by Aegathis  at Feb 3,2005 10:26pm
My dad said its probably water in the spark plugs or something to that degree. Some one else mentioned that to me earlier also.

did you know that just putting the TypeR badge on your car adds 15 horsepower? and if you put a big wing and make it look like a shopping cart, then you get an additional 20hp...

Could be a crack in your distributor cap. Sorry if someone already said this.
