New site? Maybe some day.

Who's going?
I'll be there after I eat some "brownies"! |
I was asked to shoot the show but I don't think i will be able to make it... |
I'm going to be there.
I'm tempted to
1) stop by the wakefield show
2) skip over to TT's between bands for the major stars. |
tonight middle east.
tomorrow at the living room |
the nightmare continues is playing the providence show! |
I'm leaving for this in ah hour-ish. |
i think im gonna go to this |
I was juust there. theu are still setting up stuff, like projectors n stuff.
I sort of have nothing to do. |
oh wade's here.
we could have carpooled. |
clouds: I thought jeb (disappearer/doomriders) was in this band tooam but it wasn't him once the bassplayer turned around. They played semi-psych rock with some harder parts. Some of it sounded good and other bands reminded me of bands I didn't care about when my dad would play them in the car. This was their 3rd show, but they seemed pretty tight for only having plalyed 3 shows. I'm sure they will be playing around boston again. I wouldn't be surprised if they played somewhere with doomriders and/or disappearer. They had one song that was a hardcore fusion with their 70s rock and the one guitarist/singer put the guitar down and just sang. I think he was the cave in member... but I forget what they look like. |
zombi: see folks, that is how you make electronic music. It sounded like the end of a horror movie from the 70 (late 80s max). It was so thock sounding. That is something you can't get from digital synths. Plus, it's just two guys doing everything. One plays like 10 synth plus bass. The other plays 2 synths and the drums. It's aweosme. |
Breather Resist hold down Converge/Jesus Lizard, where Slint came from. |
good show, Breather Resist is ex NAtional Acrobat. Best Band every from KY. |
um... WTF storrow is backed up and 93N is closed again...
I hate you boston.
of course, ill be here tomorrow, and fri-sun |
thank the rolling stones.. prolly |
red sparowes: wow. I could have left (like a lot of people did) and been happy. Their set was so good. Total spacerock. The last time I saw a spacerock band there was 99 with gsybe! They both had films playing too. I can't believe that I haven't listened to their CD yet. Totally blissful. At one point, I think wade got yelled at for his flash |
finally home... not it wasn't the stones. though that's probably were some of the traffic came from...
it's thanks fucking boston.
it's like this almost every time I drive home. |
moving to allston caused me to miss this show tonight, motherfucker i knew i shouldnt have planned on moving this week. |
clouds: featuring adam from cave in (yes aaron, it's the one that put his guitar down) and an old drummer of bane i believe. i thought their led zepplin riffs sounded really good, but they'd try and go off into a psychodelic part and they would just go too far with it and start trailing off, thus loosing my intrest as well as many other people I talked too.
Zombi: I didn't catch much of them, but after I came in I wish I saw more. Their drummer was tight. Some of the synth stuff reminded me of Rush.
Red Sparowes: They have Isis and Neurosis members... need I say more? Amazing.
Breather Resist: I have seen this band 3 times and enjoyed them only once live, at the BCCA show that happened recently. They didn't pull it off for me this time. Maybe headlining a tour where everyone is going for Red Sparowes isn't the best idea., but this band doesn't work well on a stage. They don't give off the same energy. |
also, the sound for this show was amazing. the upstairs has been lacking lately, but not this night. |
I met some hot German chick yesterday in harvard. She said she was going to that show. Anybody see a hot German chick? |
breather resist: they definitly have a converge sounds to them, but there is something different too that adds in a southern south. I think that devon is right.. they are much better when they can get one the floor. the singer seemed a bit let down that so many people left though I think they sold more merch than the other bands.
on a side note: I hope wade made it home and to work ok. he's not checked in yet. |
we often call them Botch Resist. I hear Botch more than I do Converge. |
er.. I guess maybe since they have more melodic hardcore parts. stuff like that has trickled down from botch/cave in to bands like the chariot which has gone in off in to arty-land with it. breather resist does this a little, probably as much as botch does. there is something unmistakably jane doe/bannon about the vocals in a lot of parts, but the music is a lot cleaner.
plus, I think I heard you say that once..er.. three times while stoned at a show cause you didn't think anyone heard your witty remark. |
Hahaha probably. i don't remember, so you probably were right on me being stoned. Me being stoned goes along with anything I do, though. |

BR was awesome as usual -- but this was probably their last time headlining this tour.

that red sparowes album is really fucking good. i got the double LP version. reminds me of the cure (disintegration) at times. really chill shit. |

was that a cover of Pink Floyd's 'welcome to the machine' in there?

they were really good. the one guitarist said "blahblahblahflash" or something after i took one shot of him. then point-and-shoot boy proceeded to fire away. fuck it. i just didn't shoot that dude anymore (who could with no flash and that lighting anyway). got a few long exposure shots on the left side of the stage, though (slow sync with flash, 10+ secong exposures).
zombi has a song that sounds like the synth at the beginningof..um.. I think a foreinger track (no not final count doen).
clouds said they played a melvins cover.. I don't know about that. adam also was screaming during one song... can someone say good olde days?
rooster, you a god speed you black emperor! fan? they totally blissed out like that. |

never heard them.
WHAT!?! e-mail me and I'll get you a track.
best band ever.
when you compared sparowes to cure, I SORT OF FIGURED THAT YOU (damn caps) hadnt. |
As good as Zombi and Red Sparowes are live, every single one of you should have been at TT's for Major Stars and Kinski. The turnout was pathetic for the caliber of show, but both bands still tore the place down. Major Stars are playing a free WRBB show at Northeastern on Labor Day, so check it out if you missed them Tuesday. |
funny, last time I saw the major stars, there was only 11 people there. kinski was at my radio station the day before (their new CD is ok. I think I like older stuff better). I had e-mailed kinski asking about shooting a couple pictures of the show, but they didn't reply so I didn't bother stopping in.
people in boston who don't love the major stars should be shot. they are awesome. their older stuff is spacey, newer stuff is like spacerock mixed with creamy goodness. |
Kinksi pretty much stuck to the older heavier stuff (I think their were two songs from the new one), with shortened versions of the spacier tracks between songs while they retuned and adjusted all of their pedals. Major Stars played the two new songs from their latest single and their new-ish singer held her own very well despite being so drunk she could barely stand up.
I saw Red Sparowes a few months ago and Zombi always seems to be playing at shows that I end up at (and I can't stand Breather Resist), so the TT's draw seemed like the better show; I just wish more people had shown up so there could have been a little more crowd response. |
last time I was at TTs was American Analog Set in 1999.
major stars has a new singer? does that mean janis joplin isn't in it anymore? I thought her and the dude from twisted village were both in the band and married...
it would be pretty hard to kick yoru wife out of the band. |
She's still there, she just plays guitar now. The new gal is a super young ZBC alum. She doesn't have quite the howl, but it still fits the music well. |
there is no way in hell i would have missed the show at the middle east. |
