EW ENGLAND METAL & HARDCORE FESTIVAL
FRIDAY APRIL 28, SATURDAY APRIL 29 & SUNDAY APRIL 30
The Palladium - Worcester, MA

ESP Guitars and Krank Amps present the 8th Annual New England Metal And Hardcore Festival on Friday April 28, Saturday April 29 and Sunday April 30 at The Palladium in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Friday tickets are $35.00; Saturday and Sunday individual day tickets are $40.00. Three-day passes are $109.50. Tickets are available NOW at all Strawberries Record Stores, online at tickets.com, or by calling tickets.com at (800) 477-6849. There is re-entry at this all day event - up until 6:00pm each day.

Proclaimed in past years as one of the best American festivals focusing on heavy music, the three-day show will host numerous metal, hardcore, and metalcore bands along with a jam-packed vendor area where fans can purchase hard-to-find CDs, t-shirts, and other music merchandise. ESP Guitars will be giving away guitars and basses, including a one-of-a-kind guitar signed by every performer at the show, while Krank Amplification will give away one of their acclaimed half-stack amp models. These two great companies will also be bringing you up close and personal with some of the bands they endorse - so as we get closer to fest we will have schedule of artist signings and other surprises. "If you decide to go to only one fest this year, this should be it,” says Revolver Magazine and MetalJudgment.com calls it “...hands down, the best metal fest in the world.”

The show will once again take place on two stages at The Palladium. Bands confirmed so far (listed alphabetically each day):

Friday includes A Life Once Lost, A Perfect Murder, Alarum, Arsis, Between The Buried And Me, Black Dahlia Murder, Cephalic Carnage, Dead To Fall, Demiricous, Ed Gein, From A Second Story Window, Haste The Day, If Hope Dies, Lacuna Coil, Ligeia, Necrophagist, Neuraxis, Nodes Of Ranvier, Ringworm, Scarlet, Still Remains, Suicide Silence, The Absence, Thine Eyes Bleed and Through The Eyes Of The Dead.

Well if they put all those bands on one night, there'd be no metalheads there the other two night. They are compelled to force us to co-exist with the girlpants Kelsos.

but most people dont/wont spend the money to see 3 good bands thru all the gayness. the trendy kids will go regardless cause it's the thing to do.

I'll never understand how bands that hardly play any shows get on festivals. Plus some bands that most people haven't even heard of: A Love End Suicide, Bloodlined Calligraphy, Born Victim, Nodes Of Ranvier, The JonBenet, ect?

toggletoggle post by thedeparted   at Mar 14,2006 12:02pm
i think they had some thing on their website, it might still be there, where you can send submissions up until like march 31st

probably how they got on

toggletoggle post by pam nli at Mar 14,2006 12:02pm
They suck a mean dick, Tom. That's all I can figure.

I've never even heard of any of the bands on Sun. besides Dragonforce and Into Eternity (I've seen Into Eternity). I know Dragonforce is what everyone is talking about, but is it even worth it so sit through so many shitty bands? Sat. looks like the way to go just for Flo Mournier alone. Seeing him in Manch blew away any drummer I've ever seen by far (I even got his stick). Who knows, I may still change my mind and not be able to let Dragonforce pass me by.

i've heard of bloodlined caligraphy, and they fucking suck ass. i see nodes of ranvier's cd pop up here and there but it looks to shitty to even try to listen to.

if i go at all, it'll probably only be friday since alarum, arsis, cephalic carnage, necrophagist, neuraxis and demiricous are playing. the other days are not worth it for me at all. sitting through 30 shitty bands to see 3 or 4 awesome bands on saturday is not an option to me. there are like 2 bands on sunday i wouldn't mind seeing, so that's out of the question.

instead of paying all that money to see flo, you could wait until june 2nd to see them at goodtimes with all REAL metal bands for only 15 bucks

They shouldnt mix bands that much like they do its...I'd imagine people who would go see bands like fassw wouldnt want to even think of seeing half those bands on friday.ANd the same thing for saturday.

im not going but bands I would want to see

Friday - A Life Once Lost, Alarum, Arsis, Between The Buried And Me, Black Dahlia Murder, Cephalic Carnage, Dead To Fall, From A Second Story Window, Necrophagist, Neuraxis, Through The Eyes Of The Dead

Saturday - Arch Enemy, Cryptopsy, The End, Immolation, Ion Dissonance, Skinless, Suffocation

Sunday - Byzantine, Cannae, DragonForce, Into Eternity

of course there are othr bands I wouldnt mind seeing but fuck, alot of badstuff this year
they should break it down so that just one day is hardcore/ more hardcore metalcore(if that makes sense), then another day would be just death metal, straight up metal, and another day for the rest of the metalcore they got on their haha

toggletoggle post by wakeoftears  at Mar 14,2006 1:33pm
Sunday will definitely be a long ass day, especially if im going to Friday too. But Dragonforce will come on, and I will forget all the bands that just played that ive never heard of, and rock out like I have never rocked before.

friday is definitly the best day for...well....obvious reasons

eh ive heard of most of those bands...mostly on facedown records...christian hardcore...may be why the death metal kids arent exposed to them.

toggletoggle post by cav at Mar 14,2006 4:32pm
for those of you who complain about the mix of metal bands and hardcore bands....im not sure what else you expect from a metal and hardcore festival...ive gone to this shindig 4 years in a row and every year there is a mix of both metal bands and hardcore bands....and the first year i went i hated hardcore so i know how frustrating it can be. but now i kind of feel that way about the metal bands. i guess metalfest requires a lil openmindedness. also watching hardcore bands is sometimes fun even if you dont like the band, cus kids go ape. i gues thats all i have to say.

toggletoggle post by jrb2971nli at Mar 14,2006 4:37pm
I have to say I'm looking forward to the absence, arsis, umm hrmm.. arch nme? (I've seen them alot already). Not much else looks that appealing. The is alot of MC bands.. still not my thing. Isn't the organizer a big MC fan anyhow? It's like 70% MC this year. I am kind of worried how my extreme metal merch will be accepted at the show. Perhaps places like prosthetic or victory will be the mecca there. Ugh!

toggletoggle post by RichHorror  at Mar 14,2006 4:40pm
There are only two hardcore bands on this fest.

toggletoggle post by anonymous at Mar 14,2006 4:41pm
what happened to bullet for my valentine? were they to scared of all the emo hardcore bands?

toggletoggle post by Josh_Martin at Mar 14,2006 4:51pm
Usually there's one or maybe even two bands I want to see and I have to miss out because there's no way I'm paying festival prices to see one band play for 25 minutes, but this year there isn't one single band I'd bother to go see, so imo, this is the best NEMHC fest ever!

toggletoggle post by spaldino at Mar 14,2006 4:53pm
i went one year... i think it was the 3rd metal fest ever... downstairs was ALL death metal and metal... and upstairs was all hardcore. why cant they do something similar? seriously?

toggletoggle post by RichHorror  at Mar 14,2006 4:54pm
Fests are stupid and gay unless my band is playing.

toggletoggle post by AUTOPSY_666   at Mar 14,2006 5:01pm
What's up with OVERCAST playing, a reunion or something?

toggletoggle post by MarkFuckingRichards  at Mar 14,2006 5:02pm
it seems there are 3 reasons to spread the bands in such an odd fashion, from what i gather. 1st reason is because of touring; a handful of bands on the first day are touring together, so it's only natural for them to be lumped into the same day.

2nd reason could be to try exposing bands of one genre to that of the next. even though a lot of the music and fans don't mix well, there are still business transactions to be made through the kids that just love everything or found something new, such as a kid who only listens to commercial metalcore finding out about old school thrash bands, death metal, etc.

3rd reason is definitely all about business. they know that there are a lot of people who will just spend the money no matter what because they want to "support the scene" or they don't care about sitting through 10 hours of crap to see a few of their favorite bands. and in my own experience, instead of sitting through a few bands i didn't care for, i'd go look at merchandise and end up spending a crap load of money, so it keeps the vendors in business and the palladium gets to keep a portion of the money.

also...would you rather see 25 bands in a row that you love with no breaks, or be able to show up late to avoid 6 crappy bands, see 3 good ones in a row, take a break to eat or just be able to breathe, then see the last few good bands? although, this year and last year, there have been way too many crappy bands to separate the good

I do enjoy the hour or two breaks from being shoulder to shoulder with men who wear eyeliner and plugs.
