ATREYU TO HEADLINE OZZfest ’06 Second Stage

TASTE OF CHAOS CONTINUES THROUGH APRIL 15TH

A Death-Grip on Yesterday in stores March 28th

Exclusive Online Promotion Launches Featuring Audio & Video Streams,
Contests and the “Ask Atreyu” Event

Chicago, IL - Southern California’s Atreyu have much to celebrate as they cross the country on Taste of Chaos Tour in support of their new album, A Death-grip On Yesterday, in stores March 28th. While rocking hard on one of the most acclaimed aggressive music tours, they are proud to announce their confirmation for a headlining slot on the second stage at Ozzfest 2006, the traveling festival legendary for its rebellious spirit. Atreyu are joined by label mates Between The Buried and Me.

With a new single, “Exes and Ohs,” climbing the Active Rock radio charts, the cover of Revolver Magazine’s May ’06 issue and coverage in publications like Entertainment Weekly, SPIN and Guitar World, Atreyu are poised to land at the top of the charts. To celebrate, Victory Records launched a special “A Death-Grip on Yesterday” page that includes streaming footage from the record sessions, videos, e-cards and exclusive songs. Today, “Shameful” was released exclusively at www.victoryrecords.com – “Ex’s and Oh’s” can also be heard streaming now. On March 17th the ‘Ask Atreyu’ online event launches – ask burning questions and hear the answers on March 28th, the day the album hits stores. The website offers on-line contests with prizes ranging from autographed CDs and posters and a super merchandise pack to a link to win a flyaway trip to Taste of Chaos in Los Angeles.

Produced by Josh Abraham (Velvet Revolver, Korn, Staind), A Death-Grip on Yesterday is chock full of great metallic rock songs with the mind-boggling guitar runs and dynamic brutality they are known for. They kick off the new album with an exclusive song on the soundtrack album for Underworld: Evolution, which debuted at #1 it’s first week with 27.6 million dollars in ticket sales. The video for “Her Portrait In Black” is inter-cut with footage from the movie, and has enjoyed massive plays from the online sites in the past few weeks since its debut on Yahoo! Music.

In 2002, a band called Atreyu exploded out of Orange County. Previously unknown to the rest of the world, the band released their stunning debut album, Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses, grabbing the attention of a wide spectrum of music fans by demolishing the barriers between rock, melodic hardcore and metal. Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses has sold 236,000 units to date.

Atreyu headed home in late 2003 to write and record their second album, The Curse, with GGGarth, famous for his work with bands like Rage Against The Machine, Kittie and Testament on board to produce. Since the The Curse hit the street on June 29, 2004, Atreyu has been featured in Rolling Stone, SPIN, Guitar World, Revolver, Alternative Press and dozens more magazines and newspapers. Called the “Hot New Metal Band” by Rolling Stone, the single, “Right Side Of The Bed” picked up speed, with the video spinning on MTV2 and Fuse, Modern Rock radio sat up and took notice. At present The Curse has scanned 311,000 copies and shows so signs of slowing down.

With one of the top slots on Taste of Chaos Tour 2006, Atreyu are poised to reach a huge audience and captivate them with their genre-bending metallic rock. Their headlining slot on Ozzfest’s second stage for summer 2006 sees them in front of heavy music fans across North America. Their dynamic guitar assault combines brilliant single-note leads and pummeling power chords, offset by the melodic and guttural vocals. “We blend it to make a prettier dark picture” Alex comments. With their new album, A Death-Grip On Yesterday, Atreyu have honed their personal style even more, exceeding all expectations and expanding the boundaries of metallic rock yet again.

I didnt read that article but I heard Slayer was on the second stage this year. I have never heard of this band Atreyu, so how could they be playing over Slayer?

I thought Black Label Society was headlining.

And no, Slayer isn't playing. Why didn't anyone just go to Ozzfest.com, heh.
