Atreyu’s A Death-Grip on Yesterday Debuts at #9 on the Billboard Top 200!
Los Angeles Alternative Radio Giant KROQ Adds “Ex’s and Oh’s”
Atreyu Cover Story in Revolver Magazine On Stands Now

Chicago, IL - Southern California’s Atreyu have much to celebrate as they cross the country on Taste of Chaos Tour in support of their new album, A Death-Grip On Yesterday, which debuted at #9 on the Billboard Top 200 with 68,664 in sales. The album enjoys the #1 spot on the Independent Chart while their last release, The Curse, is at #38. Rock radio is awakening to the phenomenal single, “Ex’s and Oh’s”: KROQ-LA added the song this week, joining stations in markets like Seattle, Nashville, Boston and Detroit. As this month’s cover boys for metal bible Revolver, a bloody, controversial photo shoot caused outrage in the offices of Wal-Mart who objected to the images of Atreyu’s severed heads on a platter. The band is also featured in the current issue of Alternative Press and will be reviewed in the next issue of Rolling Stone, who called them the “Hot New Metal Band” during the summer of 2004. Atreyu were guests on Fuse TV’s Steven’s Untitled Rock Show and Tattoo Stories, and the latest video premiered on AOL Music and is spinning on MTV2 Headbanger’s Ball as well as Steven’s Untitled Rock Show on Fuse.

Currently one of the top billed bands on the critically acclaimed Rockstar Taste of Chaos tour, Atreyu will spend the summer as headliners on 2nd Stage at Ozzfest 2006, the traveling festival legendary for its rebellious spirit. Atreyu are joined by label mates Between The Buried and Me.

Produced by Josh Abraham (Velvet Revolver, Korn, Staind), A Death-Grip on Yesterday is chock full of great metallic rock songs with the mind-boggling guitar runs and dynamic brutality they are known for. They kick off the new album with an exclusive song on the soundtrack album for Underworld: Evolution, which debuted at #1 it’s first week with 27.6 million dollars in ticket sales. The video for “Her Portrait In Black” is inter-cut with footage from the movie and has enjoyed massive plays from the online sites in the past few weeks since its debut on Yahoo! Music.

In 2002, a band called Atreyu exploded out of Orange County. Previously unknown to the rest of the world, the band released their stunning debut album, Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses, grabbing the attention of a wide spectrum of music fans by demolishing the barriers between rock, melodic hardcore and metal. Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses has sold 236,000 units to date.

Atreyu headed home in late 2003 to write and record their second album, The Curse, with GGGarth, famous for his work with bands like Rage Against The Machine, Kittie and Testament on board to produce. Since the The Curse hit the street on June 29, 2004, Atreyu has been featured in Rolling Stone, SPIN, Guitar World, Revolver, Alternative Press and dozens more magazines and newspapers. Called the “Hot New Metal Band” by Rolling Stone, the single, “Right Side Of The Bed” picked up speed, with the video spinning on MTV2 and Fuse, Modern Rock radio sat up and took notice. At present The Curse has scanned 311,000 copies and shows so signs of slowing down.

Atreyu are poised to reach a huge audience and captivate them with their genre-bending metallic rock. Their headlining slot on Ozzfest’s second stage for summer 2006 sees them in front of heavy music fans across North America. Their dynamic guitar assault combines brilliant single-note leads and pummeling power chords, offset by the melodic and guttural vocals. “We blend it to make a prettier dark picture” vocalist Alex comments. With their new album, A Death-Grip On Yesterday, Atreyu have honed their personal style even more, exceeding all expectations and expanding the boundaries of metallic rock yet again.
