ok, so after getting no sleep last night, I'm sittig at this show. Sitting in the corner. My eyes keep glazing over and I keep having dreams with my eyes wide open.
anyhow, bernie has gotten free wi-fi at both of the clubs now. That means I could theoretically upload the pictures as the show's progressing. It makes me want to get the wi-fi addapter for my camera so as I shoot, it automatically transfers to my lappy. It's like a freaking cryptopsy LAN party!

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 2,2006 10:43pm
slayed innocence: not really my bag of music, but they had fun with it up there. some of the people in the front were dancing around and singing along. I figure they must have known the band. The guitarist with the rag over his face had touble singing I guess. Probably just the sort of trouble that a dude would have if he was to try to sing with a rag over his face. they were sort of nu-metally hardcore.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 2,2006 10:44pm
zircon: they got a flat tire on the ride to the show. This meant that they were a touch late, but whatever cause the show got going a little late. Here's to actully being about to hear this band in all it's glory. Someone compared them to a bunch of bands. They were wrong. Yes, the winds of odin blew down from the northern lands as they played, but there was a lot of death metal. They have that whirling cyclone of drums and sped up guitar riffs that zyklon likes to use a lot. as they got further along in their set, more and more people showed up. The place is starting to look kind of full.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 2,2006 11:00pm
Sexcrement: before they started the crowd swelled up again. Tons of people packed it in up front and when the music started, a rampage broke out on the floor, an aminal rampage. It lasted pretty much through their entire set. People were dancing around, crushing up through the people in the front, and then running back into the open pit. The audience just may have peaked during their set. There were tons of people. the security gaurds left everyone alone. As for secrement themselves, adam's vocals are a lot more high and screamy than the brutal lows. He keeps tight wraps on the goratory lows. josh, since he was a little kid, he's wanted to play bass like zack in goratory. Well, he finally gets his chance. People even gave him horns while he played. No more slapping that top string!

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 2,2006 11:40pm
downfall: I'm pretty sure at least one of the guys in the band took more than one year of spanish in school. I'm going to guess that they probably sold the most amount of tickets out of all the other bands (when the latinos come out, they come out in droves). The front of the crowd was all spanish speaking. Hell, most of the crowd was. The set sounded good, but one of the guitars messed up a song or two in. Compared to the o'briens show, the sound was a little thin. I think it was the guitar. Not sure. It just didn't seem to fill the sound out. The bouncers started decending on people who were dancing at this point. a couple people got tossed or damn near close to being tossed. Anyhow, they played a cover at the end that I didn't know. some drinking song.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 2,2006 11:44pm
candy striper death orgy: the sound on that stage was pretty damn tight for them. during their second to last song, holocaustic, people got tossed. actually, it seemed like when people would move they would get tossed. I don't know what the people were doing when they got tossed. I mean, they could have been stomping puppies for all I know. I would just see all the security decend on one person and then lead them out via flashlight. one of the guys from cattle decapitation was going to come out on stage for their last song, a nuclear assault cover, but he stayed back and eric sang it.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 3,2006 1:34am
cattle decapitation: these guys are definitely doing something right. At MDF, they had 1/2 a trailer full of shirts/hoodies. what is it, a week later? and more that 1/2 of it is gone. Outstanding. Even MFR bought a shirt from them (and he won't even buy the mrs an agnostic front tshirt). Their set was nothing short of what you would expect from them. they do not disappoint. Awesome and there weren't even anything that went wrong (after the pops and cracks for the sound check). for song, played the same set from MDF with the two new songs. They sounded a lot better on this stage. Even the low end filled in nicely on the newer songs. I would still like to remember what happend to the second guitarist. It was funny how travis would scream/squeel at the front of the stage. And then strut off like an orwellian pig (some animals are more equal than others). the new CD should kill (7/11/05) this will make the 4 CDs that I own of theirs (including a split).

Good show, messy sound (or perhaps just the room).
Sexcrement was good stuff, really slammy, they got the crowd and the anti-pitting bouncers going.
After seeing Cattle decap., I really want remote hi-hats on my kit!!! Besides all the noise from the trigger feed (must have been a bum cable or DI or something like that) they sounded good.
Cryptopsy- Simply Awesome.

I thought that was the DI from the bass that was sounding crappy during cattle decap.

I saw that Serge! 3 bouncers & they still couldn't handle him. They had to take him down! Fuckin security sucked balls! As soon as a pit opened up, they got scared and would break it up right away. They tossed a ton of people for no reason.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 3,2006 11:37pm
cryptopsy: they took a pretty long time to set up, but what ever. This is the 5th tie I've seen them since lord worm's come back into the fold. I can understand that some persons make fun of his vocals on the older stuff. At the time they weren't "funny". that's just how they were and now, they are classic. that's how the songs are suppose to sound. The first few none so vile times are past so they now play stuff from all over their catalog. Even off "and then you'll beg" (my least favorite cryptopsy CD), but Mr Worm (who was noticibly with out worms today) puts a nice spin on those tracks.
In the end of their set they were going to play a track off blasphemy made flesh, but then found out they only had time for "1" last song (the sound guy said 2 over the PA). So they scrapped blasphemy and went to none so vile. Lord Worm asked "you know what song this is?" I almost yelled "phobophile" and then the pianos started (not much of a surprise cause they play a clip during sound check). The crowd raised up their horns. As the music kicked in, people on the floor began to move a little. pretty much just headbanging.I look up and saw 2 guys get pulled out and thrown to the ground. A bunch of security guys had them down. I'm not positive what happpend to them after that so I'll let someone who say recount (i heard about a cop outside), but one of them was serge and he was just headbanging when they pulled him out of the crowd.
That was the song that cryptopsy ended with. I think they might have played another song if people didn't turn away from the stage right away. and start getting tossed out. Oh well. I hope serge is ok. but I've seen that kid take spin kicks to the side of the head and a saw to the top of his head , never even slowing down his head banging so I'm sure he was fine. I think it's going to get harder for bands to sell tickets if they are allowed to mosh or even headbang in a venue that allows
"MOSH AT YOUR OWN RISK"

here's my review...

slayed innocence-didn't belong on the show, not my bag like the rev said. boring pseudo-metalcore, if that's the right terminology for it.

zircon-fucking awesome. i've grown out of most black metal the past 2 or 3 years, but these guys keep my attention. lots of groove, which a lot of BM doesn't have or don't succeed at. i'll be looking forward to playing with them again

sexcrement-this was probably the greatest show we've had yet. only a few small things went wrong, rather than knee caps blowing out or electricity being shot for over an hour, haha. the sound was sick, and the crowd made it even more worth the while. sucks that the security guards were assholes, but oh well. it seemed like there was too much going on for them to take everyone out.

downfall-1st time seeing and hearing; definitely an awesome band. reminds me of beneath the remains-era sepultura with a little more death metal. thanks to ruben (sp?) for letting us use the cabs!!! we'll definitely have to play some more shows together in the future.

CSDO-to be perfectly honest, i don't see why people bash them so much as far as their sound goes. the vocals are an acquired taste; i'm not sure how much i like them. this was my first time really paying attention to them, so i'll have to hear more to formulate a solid opinion

cattle decapitation-awesome, especially with the new drummer. i think they have some of the best merchandise i've ever seen. too bad i'm not vegan or vegetarian, otherwise it would appeal to me even more, haha

cryptopsy-awesome to see them back with lord worm. the new guitarist is sick, but makes the most ridiculous faces i've ever seen, haha. the sound guy totally destroyed their sound. the bass drum sounded like shit for the first few songs, then got good. then he fucked it up again. my friend mitch got kicked out during the 1st fucking song, and just for headbanging/pumping his fist too much! bullshit!

overall, the fun level dwindled towards the end with security getting their panties in a bustle. i hope people go so absolutely apeshit at the skinless show on august 11th that the guards get pummelled. thumbs down!

People need to politely e-mail/message New England Concerts and/or Bernie about the TNT security issue. Show-goers are already starting to boycott Mark's Show Place because of the nazi-like security. Kids can't even stand in their own space and headbang without either being kicked out or closely watched. Before you know it these shows will dwindle down in attendance because of the bad rep. There's a huge difference between kicking people for fighting inside the club and someone who's just trying to have a good time.

This show was a good time. Good time at good times. Wee! When I first got to the show I was impressed with the sound but as time went on it seemed to go through a few crappy phases. The moshing/security situation was a bit much. I saw a lot of good people and had a blast. And everything after the tequilla shot is a little fuzzy...

PEOPLE THIS IS A GOOD IDEA!
I just calmly sent Bernie a message, in regards to the Skinless/Sexcrement show which will no doubt yield a violent crowd. What's a Skinless show without dancing? People, if you were directly affected by the ejections on Saturday night or at any pervious NE Concerts show, now is a great time to take the time to express your frustrations.

This is Bernie.... TNT SECURITY HAS NOW BEEN FIRED DUE TO ALL THE COMPLAINTS... we are looking at other security companies like Wizard for future shows after this weekend... i dont think Marks will allow moshing still... but at least they will be able to handle things differently...
