toggletoggle post by everpessimistnow  at Jun 18,2006 1:23am
there does appear to be an excess of smoke in these shots, man thats rough.
and as for pitting, when i saw Slayer with Pantera (also at the Tsongas), there seemed to be good pits about 20 feet behind me, but i was pressed against the barricades (which had tiny holes in them, providing a fanFuckenTastic cheese grating effect). but i dunno if you would be able to get a decent photograph of them ;-)
hmm sounds like a rough night, still wish i could have gone though, but i had to work. gay.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 18,2006 1:48am
this site is also about posting things about having anal sex with dudes.
that is also considered "returning to the pit".

from where I was there was no way to shoot the mosh pit. that's another problem with arena shows.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 18,2006 1:51am
thine eyes bleed: I've heard several CDs from them (well 2). but this is the first time I've seen them playing. At NEHMF, I was excited to see them, but they canceled. their songs are long so they only got to play 5 songs, but I'm sure the slayer crowd was happy to get the metalcore band out of the way. I'm sure that they would have been much better with out a barricade.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 18,2006 2:17am
mastodon: these guys have gone really far since playing at exit 23. funny just how many people realize how inovative these guys are. so one of the guitar players has a little sampler. That played a bunch of clips and drum tracks. one of the samples was about "brown" vampires who can only be killed with a steak the color of white skin. I wonder if that's a new track since I didn't know it. bet warner bros will love that! People seemed to know them cause the crowd surfing picked up when their set started. Also, after the first 5 tracks, they announced the title of the last track "blood & trunder" and got a huge cheer from the crowd.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 18,2006 2:23am
children of bodom: unless I missed the memo, I find it weird that an indie label band played after a major label band. I knew at once that the lighting would be much better for alexi. I always think he's a princess so the lighting would have to be nice and bright. Which it was. During their set, for some unknown reason, crowd surfers did a hi-five line down the front row. I would have found that annoying being in the front row. They played 6 songs all of which used the word "fuck" in a similar way (usual about giving or not giving it). The keyboard dude sat back at the cabs playing. He looked bored when he wasn't playing, but then alexi would run back there and act all cheesey with him. he spent a lot more time flipping his hair than he did flipping the goat off. Speaking of middle fingers, for their last song, they asked everyone to put up their middle fingers. Most of the audience was confused and put up the horns. Not the same meaning at all.

toggletoggle post by RichHorror  at Jun 18,2006 2:24am
I would have no problem flipping off COB, and would probably have been doing so long before he made a request.

toggletoggle post by inject-now at Jun 18,2006 2:47am

SILENT SCREAM!!!

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 18,2006 3:02am
lamb of god: honestly, this band has some seriously great dudes in it. they are all wicked nice and randy, even though he's typically wicked drunk, has an awesome memory for people. the 2nd to last time I was here @ the tsongas arena, I saw LOG headlining last year's SOTU. the house lights went out, but they took probably another 15 minutes to come out. Randy was sporting the bruce willis style. at some point, during their 5th song, randy sent it out to all the mass bands, brain fair (shadows fall) came out and yelled something. people cheered. They asked all the girls to turn around and show the sound guy they tits, but this isn't meathead fest so no one did.

from what I observed this "no pictures of the pit" situation can be remedied pretty easily.

1. Make sure you're built like a hefty bag full of salt pork. if not, gain 100 lbs.
2. Take your shirt off
3. Stop around like you're one of the Bushwackers. Flail your arms around in a manner that makes no sense. If there's anyone smaller than you in the room shove them on the ground. Act like you own the whole Tsongas Arena despite having found out about Slayer 2 years ago through a Hot Topic sampler cd.
4. Take a fucking picture of it. Ass.

There are no "you guys". There is 1 guy - The Rev - who takes pictures at 2 or 3 shows a week (all over New England), hosts a radio show, and runs a website all in his spare time and with more or less his own money. If you're unhappy with the area one guy at a huge show like that was able to cover, maybe you should donate some money to get the RTTP photo blimp built so he can get some arial shots of you rubbing up against shirtless men.

you're welcome for the free education.

listen retard, there are PLENTY of pics of people moshing on here...since you have no clue of how things work at "LARGE" shows, you know, shows at big venues like the tsongas arena, there are a lot of rules when it comes to taking photos...first of all, you're only allowed to take photos for the first 3 songs if every band..then you have to put your equipment away and stand in a particular spot. if you look at the randomshots, you will see people and a lot of crowd shots, but since you're not allowed to walk around with your camera you can't go into the crowd.

so read and get a clue because you call a site stupid you ignorant piece of crap. the reverend spends a lot of time and money on this site so show somew fuckin respect

Cool show last night but Slayer's set was to short. This is the only time Ive seen them play for less than 90 minutes.Thats disapointing since I paid $50 for a ticket. The only opener I caught was Lamb of God and they sucked balls.Heres Slayer's setlist(not in exact order):

Silent Scream
Cult
Disciple
Raining Blood
Angel of Death
Mandatory Suicide
Hell Awaits
South of Heaven
Antichrist
Blood Red
War Ensemble
Dead skin mask
Chemical Warfare
Seasons in the Abyss

Im really hoping when Slayer tour here again they play with better bands and have lower ticket prices.Because if they dont,I wont be seeing them.

I would have gone just to hear Slayer's set list. At eveyr show I've been yelling out "Antichrist" and "Blood Red". Those are 2 of my favorite songs. I think other than "Disciple" (which isn't too bad of a song in my opinion) and "Cult" (ehh?) that was a damn good set list, though I wish they'd play more off of Show No Mercy.

I'd like to say this was the worst crowd I've ever seen. They left the house lights off for like 7 or 8 minutes at the end giving people ample time to scream for an encore, and no one did. I mean even if we weren't getting one...at least try you red hat wearing nu metal faggots.

And since when do people leave when Slayer says they're done? Just about every Slayer show I've ever been to up to this one Slayer says they're done, everyone stays and goes nuts and they come out and play another song or two. Everybody just got up and left like they'd been dismissed.

i sat during slayer and i'd do it again haha. i paid 40 bucks to watch a band how i please, thats not being a puss, thats just the way it is. if it was the palladium or the avalon or something it'd be a different story, but the tsongas arena i rather just chill and watch the bands.

everyone got up and left probably because its been plastered all over the net that slayer would only be doing an hour long set and that was it, word spread pretty quickly through that crowd i'm sure.

I have to side with Cecchini here. Who cares if you sit down, stand, mosh, headbang, or wear a sports jersey, as long as you love the music?

in some african cultures, slayers music is actully known to be the designated "sitting hour" music.

I'm not sure I've ever been in the situation where I had the option to sit down for Slayer.

You could have taken a nap on the floor during Slayer last night.

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at Jun 18,2006 4:58pm
Why, did the show undersell?

toggletoggle post by kevord  at Jun 18,2006 5:01pm
The place was packed. But the energy level during Slayer was nonexistent. I talked to a kid a know who's a fan of Lamb of God and he said the crowd was really into them. I think it's just a case of Slayer not being mainstream enough and real Slayer fans didn't want to pay over $50 for a ticket. Which is too bad cause they did put on a good show and there stage set up was the best they've ever had.

lamb of god: honestly, this band has some seriously great dudes in it. they are all wicked nice and randy, even though he's typically wicked drunk, has an awesome memory for people. the 2nd to last time I was here @ the tsongas arena, I saw LOG headlining last year's SOTU. the house lights went out, but they took probably another 15 minutes to come out.

He yelled the "Destroyer of senses" line in 11th Hour.

mastodon: these guys have gone really far since playing at exit 23. funny just how many people realize how inovative these guys are. so one of the guitar players has a little sampler. Also, after the first 5 tracks, they announced the title of the last track "blood & trunder" and got a huge cheer from the crowd.

they really played at Exit 23? When was that?

I won't ever go see Slayer again until Mandatory Suicide, Dead Skin Mask, and Season in the Abyss are dropped from the set.
They are as bad as Black Sabbath at playing their most played-out material.
I've seen Slayer like 11 times over the last 15 years and those songs ALWAYS get played. Boring boring boring.

They could stand to drop Dead Skin Mask, and Seasons in the Abyss is the most boring song to hear live ever. Watching poser kids stomp around during the chorus to Seasons gets old fast. I wouldn't hold football practice to Electric Funeral so why mosh to one of the slowest songs Slayer ever wrote. Mandatory Suicide is a must though.
