New site? Maybe some day.
back and working on some terrible f'n pictures |
i watched you from afar aaron mmmmmm.
it looked like they would only let you guys shoot for 5 mins of each band then give you the boot. |
How phat were Tom Araya's rhymes? |
how horrible was their set and how amazing was MASTODON's |
hmmm yes, that does seem early, even for Lowell. Sorry to hear the night was not as fruitful as you had hoped Rev, but i am sure the shots came out great >:-D |
the pictures are terrible...
they will be uploading in a couple minutes |
The lighting was shitty. Did that guy even know what he was doing? |
it was terrible except for COB and slayer. |
the_reverend said: it was terrible except for COB and slayer. |
exactly |
i disagree on lighting...but way too much smoke during slayer, THAT sucked...of course my pics were great...then during COB my card died..and i lost all my photos..
yay |
worth the 40 plus bucks? i would have went but it was too early for me to actually go to |
thats what i meant. thine eyes bleed's lighting was awful. it was straight blacklight for almost an entire song. |
succubus said: of course my pics were great...then during COB my card died..and i lost all my photos..
yay |
i don't know how a card works, but i know how losing photos does. OUCH.
why is this stupid fucking site called returntothepit.com when theres NO PICTURES OF THE FUCKING PIT, goddamit nobody took pictures of people moshing, you guys are miserable failures at life |
there does appear to be an excess of smoke in these shots, man thats rough.
and as for pitting, when i saw Slayer with Pantera (also at the Tsongas), there seemed to be good pits about 20 feet behind me, but i was pressed against the barricades (which had tiny holes in them, providing a fanFuckenTastic cheese grating effect). but i dunno if you would be able to get a decent photograph of them ;-)
hmm sounds like a rough night, still wish i could have gone though, but i had to work. gay. |
this site is also about posting things about having anal sex with dudes.
that is also considered "returning to the pit".
from where I was there was no way to shoot the mosh pit. that's another problem with arena shows. |
thine eyes bleed: I've heard several CDs from them (well 2). but this is the first time I've seen them playing. At NEHMF, I was excited to see them, but they canceled. their songs are long so they only got to play 5 songs, but I'm sure the slayer crowd was happy to get the metalcore band out of the way. I'm sure that they would have been much better with out a barricade. |
mastodon: these guys have gone really far since playing at exit 23. funny just how many people realize how inovative these guys are. so one of the guitar players has a little sampler. That played a bunch of clips and drum tracks. one of the samples was about "brown" vampires who can only be killed with a steak the color of white skin. I wonder if that's a new track since I didn't know it. bet warner bros will love that! People seemed to know them cause the crowd surfing picked up when their set started. Also, after the first 5 tracks, they announced the title of the last track "blood & trunder" and got a huge cheer from the crowd. |
children of bodom: unless I missed the memo, I find it weird that an indie label band played after a major label band. I knew at once that the lighting would be much better for alexi. I always think he's a princess so the lighting would have to be nice and bright. Which it was. During their set, for some unknown reason, crowd surfers did a hi-five line down the front row. I would have found that annoying being in the front row. They played 6 songs all of which used the word "fuck" in a similar way (usual about giving or not giving it). The keyboard dude sat back at the cabs playing. He looked bored when he wasn't playing, but then alexi would run back there and act all cheesey with him. he spent a lot more time flipping his hair than he did flipping the goat off. Speaking of middle fingers, for their last song, they asked everyone to put up their middle fingers. Most of the audience was confused and put up the horns. Not the same meaning at all. |
I would have no problem flipping off COB, and would probably have been doing so long before he made a request. |
slayer was amazing. awesome set.
SILENT SCREAM!!! |
lamb of god: honestly, this band has some seriously great dudes in it. they are all wicked nice and randy, even though he's typically wicked drunk, has an awesome memory for people. the 2nd to last time I was here @ the tsongas arena, I saw LOG headlining last year's SOTU. the house lights went out, but they took probably another 15 minutes to come out. Randy was sporting the bruce willis style. at some point, during their 5th song, randy sent it out to all the mass bands, brain fair (shadows fall) came out and yelled something. people cheered. They asked all the girls to turn around and show the sound guy they tits, but this isn't meathead fest so no one did. |
does anyone know slayers setlist and if they mixed up their songs well? |
tool rulez said: why is this stupid fucking site called returntothepit.com when theres NO PICTURES OF THE FUCKING PIT, goddamit nobody took pictures of people moshing, you guys are miserable failures at life |
from what I observed this "no pictures of the pit" situation can be remedied pretty easily.
1. Make sure you're built like a hefty bag full of salt pork. if not, gain 100 lbs.
2. Take your shirt off
3. Stop around like you're one of the Bushwackers. Flail your arms around in a manner that makes no sense. If there's anyone smaller than you in the room shove them on the ground. Act like you own the whole Tsongas Arena despite having found out about Slayer 2 years ago through a Hot Topic sampler cd.
4. Take a fucking picture of it. Ass.
There are no "you guys". There is 1 guy - The Rev - who takes pictures at 2 or 3 shows a week (all over New England), hosts a radio show, and runs a website all in his spare time and with more or less his own money. If you're unhappy with the area one guy at a huge show like that was able to cover, maybe you should donate some money to get the RTTP photo blimp built so he can get some arial shots of you rubbing up against shirtless men.
you're welcome for the free education. |
tool rulez said: why is this stupid fucking site called returntothepit.com when theres NO PICTURES OF THE FUCKING PIT, goddamit nobody took pictures of people moshing, you guys are miserable failures at life |
listen retard, there are PLENTY of pics of people moshing on here...since you have no clue of how things work at "LARGE" shows, you know, shows at big venues like the tsongas arena, there are a lot of rules when it comes to taking photos...first of all, you're only allowed to take photos for the first 3 songs if every band..then you have to put your equipment away and stand in a particular spot. if you look at the randomshots, you will see people and a lot of crowd shots, but since you're not allowed to walk around with your camera you can't go into the crowd.
so read and get a clue because you call a site stupid you ignorant piece of crap. the reverend spends a lot of time and money on this site so show somew fuckin respect |
If he took pit shots all they would have been were guys standing around with there arms folded in there brand new Dimebag Darrel and Trivium shirts. I didn't even see anyone singing along to Angel of Death besides me. Last night was the worst Slayer crowd ever. |
I sense an IP about to be blocked! |
Cool show last night but Slayer's set was to short. This is the only time Ive seen them play for less than 90 minutes.Thats disapointing since I paid $50 for a ticket. The only opener I caught was Lamb of God and they sucked balls.Heres Slayer's setlist(not in exact order):
Silent Scream
Cult
Disciple
Raining Blood
Angel of Death
Mandatory Suicide
Hell Awaits
South of Heaven
Antichrist
Blood Red
War Ensemble
Dead skin mask
Chemical Warfare
Seasons in the Abyss
Im really hoping when Slayer tour here again they play with better bands and have lower ticket prices.Because if they dont,I wont be seeing them. |
I would have gone just to hear Slayer's set list. At eveyr show I've been yelling out "Antichrist" and "Blood Red". Those are 2 of my favorite songs. I think other than "Disciple" (which isn't too bad of a song in my opinion) and "Cult" (ehh?) that was a damn good set list, though I wish they'd play more off of Show No Mercy. |
Wow...that setlist is epic. |

I always thought "the pit" meant the photo pit, "Aaron has to return to the pit to take more pictures."
'tool rulez'
ahahah, whoever that was (i assume it was a regular poster)
brilliant |
I actually don't mind disciple but cult was at least good so I could catch my breath before the next song. When they tour for Christ illusion though it's gonna suck. I don't need that many breaks. |
I'd like to say this was the worst crowd I've ever seen. They left the house lights off for like 7 or 8 minutes at the end giving people ample time to scream for an encore, and no one did. I mean even if we weren't getting one...at least try you red hat wearing nu metal faggots. |
did anyone get a high five from that big happy guy with the red football jersey? he was fucking metal, no lie. i saw him runnin through the slayer pit giving hugs and high fives. I hope i see him at more shows, it makes me happy.
Lamb of God rocked hard. |
uh, hugs and high fives, and expecially football jerseys, aren't metal. |
pam said: I'd like to say this was the worst crowd I've ever seen. They left the house lights off for like 7 or 8 minutes at the end giving people ample time to scream for an encore, and no one did. |
Maybe that's because Slayer are faggots that haven't been good for at least a decade and should be killed. |
Kevord not logged in said: Last night was the worst Slayer crowd ever. |
seconded. i was in the seats, house left. it was my girlfriend's first slayer show ever. we rocked out harder than our entire section. there were people SITTING DOWN. you have to me a grade A mega puss to sit down during Slayer.
And since when do people leave when Slayer says they're done? Just about every Slayer show I've ever been to up to this one Slayer says they're done, everyone stays and goes nuts and they come out and play another song or two. Everybody just got up and left like they'd been dismissed.
Slayer is still an amazing live band. But the crowd did suck balls. |
did anyone see that dood w/ the richard seymour jersey who must have shook 20 thousnad peoples hands.. what a fag |
PEOPLE ON THE FLOOR WERE STANDING THERE WITH THERE ARMS FOLDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was pissed. Slayer is my favorite band and I was bangin my head and singing along to every song. Who the fuck doesn't know at least the chorus to Angel of Death. |
Wow, a lot of sports jerseys at the Slayer gig... |
Alot of Dime bag Darrel Shirts, Trivium shirts and the Eagle slayer shirt they sell at hot topic. I actually saw a group of four guys together all wearing the Hot topic slayer shirt. Fuckin gay. |
the most involved anyone in my section got was the guy who kept turning around to ask me "Dude.... dude when are they gonna play South of Heaven??!" Despite the fact that they opened with South of Heaven |
Hey. Come on.
Guns don't kill people.
PEOPLE kill people. |
Hahahahahahah. When are they gonna play south of heaven? |
The best part of watching the crowd was seeing that big dude with the beard from the Palladium ruin people. Other than that it was a lot of dudes who obviously had no idea who Slayer was, and would have reponded the same way if you had played Methods of Mayhem over the PA. |
DrinkHardThrashHard said: Wow, a lot of sports jerseys at the Slayer gig... |

Exactly!! Slayer must have been liike "well...I guess were done now, fuck these assholes."
Oh but Lamb of Gay who played the same shitty song 80 times everyone was losing their fucking mind. There were a gaggle of 8 year olds behind me daring each other to go into the WALL OF DEATH, kid. I wanted to die.
I was running from one end of the pit to the other no problem. I was drunk off my ass cause I drank $5.00 beers during all the opening bands. Every other time I've seen slayer the floor was extremely violent. Last night it was like Nickelback was playing. I actually had a guy with no shirt on tell me to calm down cause I was singing and thrashing around. |
We had a fun crowd watching game. It was called Where's The Albino? It works like where's waldo, only takes much less effort. He was spinkicking it up during LoGay bringing the xalbinocorex. |
i like to play "spot the amish guy" at metal shows |
I saw that albino kid. I think he had a red football jersey on too if I'm not mistaken and I'm totally serious. |
I like to play "Shit in Tom Araya's Bag". |
Boo hoo, you don't have a backstage pass. Call security!
Fuck Tom Araya. |
So, how much did people dish out for those tickets? |
The undertaker had fake vampire teeth. It was pretty funny. But at least he moved on the floor instead of standing there like a fag. |
did anybody knock the Undertaker on his ass this time? it seems like that's kind of his thing. |
Am I missing something here? Was the Undertaker there or someone that resembled him? |
ditto to everything RichHorror says in this thread |
I don't think the undertaker fell down last night. I only fell once cause I slipped on the floor. There wasn't that much going on down on the floor. |
No mosh, no trends, no core, no fun! |
Trust me, there was no moshing going on. |
But when are they going to play South of Heaven? |
It can't be a coincidence that the acronym for Lamb of God is LOG. |
There saving it for the encore. Oh wait we don't want an encore. we just want to go home. |
i disagree. the shirtless tai-chi moshing in the pit was pretty intense. |
I was waiting for someone to say the mosh was sick last night. |
figures. i overheard that south of heaven nerdario actually say "disturbed is good for what they are..." |
kevord said: There saving it for the encore. Oh wait we don't want an encore. we just want to go home. |
It's all because they refused to play South of Heaven, otherwise everyone would have stayed.
Disturbed does play Gay very well. |
All the shitty Numetal bands that Slayer have been touring with is getting real old. Will they ever have another good old school opener? Last one was Testament back in 1991. |
Have you heard the bullshit albums Slayer has put out lately? Slayer IS a shitty nu-metal band. |
They've always just toured with whoever was popular. Even Testament was a pretty huge band back then. I'm willing to bet Slayer took the booking out of their own hands a long time ago. |
as usual, i must agree with rich |
what i heard from god hates us all sounded like soulfly. |
Yeah. Awful band. I hope they die. |
At least coalchamber and American Head Charge aren't opening for them anymore. I can tolerate Lamb of god, children of bodom, and Mastodon as background music while I drink beers before SLAYER. |
RichHorror said: Have you heard the bullshit albums Slayer has put out lately? Slayer IS a shitty nu-metal band. |
Theres no way that you can call Slayer Numetal.Yes,their last couple of albums have some Numetal influence to them, but to call them Numetal is like saying that Kreator is a Death Metal band
I can, and did. Fuck Tom Araya. Fuck Kerry King. Fuck Slayer. |
Do you really hate the old Slayer, Rich? Like up to 1990? |
Oh, hell no. But everything after Seasons in the Abyss is so mind-unmbingly terrible they should be brought up on criminal charges. |
Well, I had a lot of fun. |
Fair enough.
I agree, I can probably count the riffs I've liked from Slayer since 1990 on one hand. |
Divine Intervention is good. |
BestialOnslaught said: Well, I had a lot of fun. |

kevord said: Divine Intervention is good. |
One of my least favorites. Not really for the style of it. It just bored the hell out of me. |
Divine Intervention really doesn't sound like any other slayer album. But I agree after that Kerry started listening to too much Slipknot and Hatebreed. |
Diabolus in Musica is by far the worst, and probably one of the worst metal albums I've ever heard. |
Diabolus definetly has the most numetal influence. I like Bitter peace. But Stain of mind has to be the worst Slayer song ever. |
Divine Intervention is very underated in my opinion. It sucks that they ignore that album in their setlists.I wonder what Numetal/Metalcore bands will open for them on their next tour after the new album comes out. |
American Head Charge hahahahaha probably one of, if not the worst band I've ever had to sit through to see Slayer.
quote of the night, and probably the perfect summation of the majority of last night's crowd....
I was walking to the parking lot and some kid in a pair of huge pants and makeup streaming down his face is walking next to me holding a bag of ice to his head and says...
"Man, now I gotta find somewhere to reapply my makeup." |

i sat during slayer and i'd do it again haha. i paid 40 bucks to watch a band how i please, thats not being a puss, thats just the way it is. if it was the palladium or the avalon or something it'd be a different story, but the tsongas arena i rather just chill and watch the bands.
everyone got up and left probably because its been plastered all over the net that slayer would only be doing an hour long set and that was it, word spread pretty quickly through that crowd i'm sure. |
the above was me by the way. |

I have to side with Cecchini here. Who cares if you sit down, stand, mosh, headbang, or wear a sports jersey, as long as you love the music? |
Slayer = the anti-Hippy perspirant. |
in some african cultures, slayers music is actully known to be the designated "sitting hour" music. |
I was eating popcorn during "Mandatory Suicide" and "Seasons In The Abyss", but at least I was standing up. |
I moshed plenty at Slayer gigs when I was a teen. I reserve my right to be old now. |

I'm old too. But I couldn't just sit down during Slayer. |

I'm not sure I've ever been in the situation where I had the option to sit down for Slayer. |
You could have taken a nap on the floor during Slayer last night. |
Why, did the show undersell? |
The place was packed. But the energy level during Slayer was nonexistent. I talked to a kid a know who's a fan of Lamb of God and he said the crowd was really into them. I think it's just a case of Slayer not being mainstream enough and real Slayer fans didn't want to pay over $50 for a ticket. Which is too bad cause they did put on a good show and there stage set up was the best they've ever had. |
DrinkHardThrashHard said: It can't be a coincidence that the acronym for Lamb of God is LOG. |

sounds like Mastadon was good eh? i would have liked to see them too. i feel guilty now, i should have been there. |

i remember seeing mastadon at exit 23. there we probably 75 people tops. everyone else was standing outside waiting for the red chord i think. i never would've imagined they would get so big. they were fucking amazing then and they are amazing now |

Angels Don't Kill from Hatecrew Death Roll
Living Dead Beat from Are You Dead Yet
Hate Me! from Follow The Reaper

I won't ever go see Slayer again until Mandatory Suicide, Dead Skin Mask, and Season in the Abyss are dropped from the set.
They are as bad as Black Sabbath at playing their most played-out material.
I've seen Slayer like 11 times over the last 15 years and those songs ALWAYS get played. Boring boring boring.

They could stand to drop Dead Skin Mask, and Seasons in the Abyss is the most boring song to hear live ever. Watching poser kids stomp around during the chorus to Seasons gets old fast. I wouldn't hold football practice to Electric Funeral so why mosh to one of the slowest songs Slayer ever wrote. Mandatory Suicide is a must though.
