toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jul 6,2006 12:24am

Those beach pics are great, as are the rest, any chance I could get a full size of the beach one for a desktop pic?

Rev, you could seriously utilize the hdr options in pscsII.
With the dynamic range of those pics, you could do some intense hdr.
I can give ya a walkthrough if needed.
pretty simple but insane results.

Decent HDR examples

toggletoggle post by tsectpathogen at Jul 6,2006 2:10am
should post the walk through of HDR here so that all of the photoshop freaks on the board can learn how to do it.

and what program did you render those 2 pictures in?

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jul 6,2006 10:02am
I was getting bitten by bugs too much to get a HDR picture. I would like to play with that though. HDR was the only reason to get CS2.

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Jul 6,2006 11:04am
ya man, same here....
I didnt render those pics....just examples I found online.

This is an HDR me and my bro made.

HDR walkthrough:

PSCSII
File/Automate/HDR conversion.
Open at least 3 HIGH DYNAMIC pics.
In other words....have 3 or more pics of the same thing, but at different exposures.
It works the best with RAW files, but jpgs work also, as long as the dynamics of all the different pics, vary enough in light.

If not, then PS will tell you that you do not have enough dynamic range to complete the process.

Thats about it.
If I am forgetting something, lemme know.

Oh and obviously, a tripod is neccessary.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jul 6,2006 11:14am
the pictures that you are posting are nice pictures an all, but the whole point of HDR is lost once you have it online and don't print it out. the whole original point of it is to allow for more stops of dynamic range in a photo. our current monitors online have the ability to display like 1 1/2 stops of dr.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_dynamic_range_imaging
it's no used to compose scenes. before it was so that you could get 6+ stops of DR (like in film) so the prints looked better. Most digital's can possibly get 5 stops, but that is pushing it. typically, it's 2 stops.

ya I hear ya....dont get me wrong.....yer pics are no less than anything Ive seen without HDR.
Photomerge is great because you can merge like hdr, but not have to worry about all the exp times and crap

Rev and Carina, how many cats do you guys have now?

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Jul 6,2006 11:28am
and can I have that full size?

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jul 6,2006 11:43am
mail me a link to the one you want and what format you want it in.
I think it's a NEF now.

we have 2 cats. zola is the maine coon that carina brought home he is cute but dumb and is way too hyper. he's always doing things to get in trouble.
mia is my first cat that I got as my own (after moving out of my dad's). she is pretty fat, but small. a very odd, but sweet kitty. she's got a very twitchy tail which is like gold to the new kitten.

I was looking at pictures from Chariots of Fire fest the other day and then some recent pictures you took and remarked to myself about just how much your photography has improved.

the earlier stuff just didn't capture the true essence of Bruce punching girls.
