Finally they are remodeling the entire inside, very exciting news.

However, my initial shows from Gobias Industries are postponed.

They should have done it Jan-March...cut out all the snow months.

cmon now rich, you'll always have rttp

toggletoggle post by pam   at Nov 2,2006 8:11am
RTTP is the internet scumbag HQ. O'Briens is the real life scumbag HQ. They work hand in hand.

toggletoggle post by RichHorror  at Nov 2,2006 8:12am
Fetch me a bride.

toggletoggle post by SacreligionNLI at Nov 2,2006 8:13am
my presence actually lessens the average of scumtitude on rttp and in real life

also, i can't wait for ralph's cheeseburgers tonight...but that's another topic completely unrelated to this one

toggletoggle post by Joe/NotCommon   at Nov 2,2006 8:17am
is ralph's cheeseburgers code word for ralph's penis?

toggletoggle post by SacreligionNLI at Nov 2,2006 8:17am
if it were that'd be terrible news, because i can't get enough of em

toggletoggle post by SacreligionNLI at Nov 2,2006 8:18am
in all actuality though

Those burgers ARE outstanding.

by the transitive property, pam loves the cock

I'm pretty sure that's common knowledge.

if i had a cock as big as yours i'd love them too

toggletoggle post by menstrual_sweatpants_disco   at Nov 2,2006 8:50am
I take it the show on the 24th of this month is off then.

toggletoggle post by RichHorror  at Nov 2,2006 8:52am
What show was that?

toggletoggle post by menstrual_sweatpants_disco   at Nov 2,2006 8:55am
I'll slap you

toggletoggle post by RichHorror  at Nov 2,2006 8:56am
WHAT WAS THE SHOW, DOUGHBOY

toggletoggle post by menstrual_sweatpants_disco   at Nov 2,2006 8:56am
How dare you insult my stunning physique.

toggletoggle post by menstrual_sweatpants_disco   at Nov 2,2006 8:56am
Gravewurm, Hekseri, Zircon, Martyrvore, NooseBomb

toggletoggle post by RichHorror  at Nov 2,2006 8:57am
Oh. Lame.

toggletoggle post by pam   at Nov 2,2006 9:02am
I was totally looking forward to that.

toggletoggle post by RichHorror  at Nov 2,2006 9:03am
Move it to the Skybar or some shit.

toggletoggle post by pam   at Nov 2,2006 9:05am
That place sucks. Beer costs a fortune.

toggletoggle post by pam   at Nov 2,2006 9:05am
And it's clean.

toggletoggle post by RichHorror  at Nov 2,2006 9:06am
It's walking distance from my house.

toggletoggle post by RichHorror  at Nov 2,2006 9:06am
I only care about myself.

toggletoggle post by BornSoVile   at Nov 2,2006 9:09am
yeah, does this mean that all shows are off now?

toggletoggle post by pam   at Nov 2,2006 9:09am
I'd go, but I'm car-barring.

toggletoggle post by BornSoVile   at Nov 2,2006 9:11am
nevermind, just read Carl's email. wonder what I'll do!

I have a couple good shots of you coming, Josh.

Man's gotta eat.

toggletoggle post by KillerKadoogan   at Nov 2,2006 9:52am
But...but...does this mean O'brien's is going to look...like...clean and stuff?

I don't know how I feel about this.

And for those of you who will need comfort during this time of need, just go to that tattoo place next door and get some permanent eyelids and/or lips. Breakfast o' champeens.

toggletoggle post by shatteredliz nli at Nov 2,2006 9:53am
Yeah, just heard about this yesterday. We're deciding what to do with the return of Bostons' Dead. Looks like Jan 5 at OBs isn't an option.

toggletoggle post by chris_from_shit_fuck  at Nov 2,2006 11:11am
looks like we're done with shows until Febuary then cause O'Brien's is the only place we ever get booked. Oh well, I guess we can write some new material in the meantime.

toggletoggle post by the rooster at Nov 2,2006 11:29am
so is the show on the 9th cancelled?

See I feel like OBs temporarily closing sucks in a way but is also a good thing - promoters arent gonna stop booking metal they're just gonna need to be aggressive about getting other venues to let them book metal. I hope. Or there could just be a whole lot less metal in Boston for a couple of months.

It definitely sucks in terms of helping out touring bands though, because it was so easy to get an OBrien's date to hook up a touring band.

Yeah, it's not going to be the same O'Briens. The day it opens somebody needs to go in there and take a shit on the floor, just to give it back it's old mystique.

Done.

HEY, NOW!

haaaaaah. Nice.

I'm unhappy about a clean and repaired O'Brien's. I loved what a fuckhole that place was.

toggletoggle post by menstrual_sweatpants_disco   at Nov 2,2006 3:50pm
I’ll never forget my first O'Brien's experience. After an agonizing campaign to search for parking in an unfamiliar section of Allston, I approached the green-signed building and peered through the window. “Are these windows?”, I pondered. I thought windows were supposed to be translucent. I shook off the thought, putting my perplexities aside and approached the entryway. After all, time’s a wasting and there’s equipment to load in. I approached the thick door, gave it a mighty pull and took my first steps into a new world.

Once inside, a malodorous wave of air hit my nose like a quick knee to the balls. A pungent waft of garbage and vomit overcame my senses and left me shaky-legged. Moments before straying from consciousness, I quickly regained control of the situation by distracting my mind with far more enchanting thoughts, like being at the dump or eating out my grandmother. Once my eyes regained focus, I gazed into the dark room. Two depressing barflies and a bartender were the only other souls sharing my misfortune. The bartender was engrossed with the cliché task of washing out glasses with a dirty rag and placing them on the counter. For a moment the place reminded me of an old western saloon, only more hazardous to the health.

Moving further into the room, the floor crackled under the soles of my shoes as if O’Brien’s was a living creature reacting in pain to the steps taken on its mighty back. Squishing and tearing sounds filled the venue. My legs became tired exerting the extra energy required to remove my feet from the sticky floor only to place them down again and walk forward another foot. This floor inspired wonder. I wondered if anyone attending the show tonight would bring a handgun. I wondered if said person would be kind enough to use it on me if I were to fall down in the course of the evening.

Shorter thereafter, Sarah from Raising Kubrick entered the club and began laying out shirts and other merchandise on one of the barren tables. I began doing the same. We both seemed to be filled with an enthused optimism that the night’s possibilities provided. We were both excited to be playing in a new venue in front of new people. However, these thoughts seemed to be overshadowed by the distressing fact that we would almost certainly have to throw out whatever merchandise was touching the table.

Haha, ok that’s enough goofing around for the moment.

toggletoggle post by Kevord  at Nov 2,2006 5:23pm
Just when O'briens had become my second home. This would only be good news if they were closing to make it even scumier.

toggletoggle post by RichHorror  at Nov 2,2006 5:24pm
They should close it so I can shit on the floor for the entire winter season.

toggletoggle post by Kevord  at Nov 2,2006 5:26pm
They should close it so we can bury dead bodies under the floor board's.

toggletoggle post by RichHorror  at Nov 2,2006 5:27pm
That's a very frivolous thing to close it for.

toggletoggle post by Kevord  at Nov 2,2006 5:30pm
True, They could stay open for that.

toggletoggle post by RichHorror  at Nov 2,2006 5:31pm
And also, there's no need to bury women. They are not people.

Yeh they should. fuckin a. Im sure there is another scummy place that will come out of nowhere.

toggletoggle post by shatteredliz   at Nov 2,2006 6:39pm
The return of Bostons' Dead will be pushed back until O'Brien's re-opens. Most likely Feb '07.

toggletoggle post by pam   at Nov 3,2006 11:40am
Mike, that was a beautiful story.

This just figures, I finally start coming to Boston on a regular basis and I am cut-off.

I didn't want to get out of bed this morning, the world seemed so empty. True story.

toggletoggle post by RichHorror  at Nov 3,2006 11:41am
I already told them when I wind up dead, it's all their fault.

toggletoggle post by pam   at Nov 3,2006 11:43am
I've washed my floors twice since the party and they're still sticky and smell like beer. Maybe we could lay down on them and close our eyes and pretend we're at O'Briens.

toggletoggle post by RichHorror  at Nov 3,2006 11:44am
Because of this, I'm moving to Fall River. So it can be done.

toggletoggle post by fishcakes at Nov 3,2006 1:19pm
no fucking show on the 9th, unless we can get another venue. fuck! fuck! fuck!

toggletoggle post by Anthony at Nov 3,2006 1:20pm

Ill work on getting a room for it as well. Who originally booked it? Josh? If so, Ill give him a call.

toggletoggle post by fishcakes at Nov 3,2006 1:34pm
yes it was josh, thanx bro.

toggletoggle post by Anthony at Nov 3,2006 1:36pm
No problem, if i get the room im thinking of for it, i may throw Revocation on as well. 6 bands would be do-able.

toggletoggle post by fishcakes at Nov 3,2006 1:39pm
that would kill, revocation is the shit!

toggletoggle post by TJ_Xenos  at Nov 4,2006 12:14pm
Worst news ever. Thank god it coincided with my 5 weeks off from work ending.... Sucks wicked bad about the Goreality and Gravewurm shows though.... Also, there are very few other venues where even if metal shows could be booked would be as conducive to the scumminess of this scene as obriens. I mean, (no disrespect to Alex) I think the villains show proved that all ages without a bar isnt what we want. Hopefully the show at the elks tonite pans out well.

Could you book that at the Bullpen as a last reserve, if you had to?

toggletoggle post by fishcakes at Nov 4,2006 3:44pm
I don't know if that date is open
