I"ll just see ya tonight at the show...

amoroso: they were ok. The guitarist looked like there was so much going on that I just wasn't able to hear. The drummer went crazy for the whole set.

this place is wicked hot and it's raining outside, but there is the perfect ammount of people hwere for the room. since this is sort of a show for the hippest of the hipsters, most of them are in the bar.


prideswallower: I didn't know who they were, but I know they said the word "swallower" a lot of stage. It was like nerdvana in that same way that bugs n' rats is like nirvana. Good stuff, but they sounded like they were in a coma in between the songs.

young widows: the amount of vintage equipment of that stage is staggering. 3 huge EmperoR cabs are in the back. These were probably wrestled out of the sands of time. They started their set asking for all the lights out. I figured that means one thing, many blind dudes. But as it turns out, the two end cabs were filled with bright lights. Bright hot lights. Bright hot lights in a hot room. I'm pretty sure I got a tan from them. They were awesome. I definitely didn't expect this from a band with their name. I can see why they are on tour with coliseum. Even the parts that didn't have much going on were awesome.

coliseum: shorter songs then I remember, but good rock out music with a southern ting and maximum rockage. They had a new drummer who was pretty insane. He also looked like he was going to die in between songs. Like they said, they've been in the studio for a while and haven't played a show in 4 months. a little out of shape, but still. I'm not complaining about anything. I sat in awkard positions in front of the drummer for most of the set, dripped with sweat and loved it.

I met Wade for the first time face to face tonight. Cool shit.

wade's awesome. plus, he's got great taste in music.

doomriders: yeah! a new track. The new song was excellent. I'm happy that they have time to write more anthems to skating. People started moshing the floor, but it was more like drunkly throwing each other. the song right had the new song, I had 2 or 3 people steamroll me into the stage. Obviously, I didn't learn the lesson from converge in 2004 when the same thing happened and I lost a chunk of skin off my shin in the same exact spot that I have a huge egg from the stage. NOTE TO SELF: keep one foot on the stage! I limped around for 3 more songs after that, but decided to seek some ice and advil. This set is why people across the coast tell me that they love doomriders. Craziness and good songs. This reminds me of when skater kids used to swirl around for suicidal tendencies. The skatekids in the audience have gotten a little older, but not wiser.

I meant "vintage looking" . it's funny to go to shows like this cause everyone's gear is so custom that there is no sharing between bands. At small venues like this, you get 1/2 of it taken up by all the gear in there.

the dudes from raise the red lantern make those cabs. i got to see the coliseum backline when i was out in chicago a few weeks ago.

thanks dudes. good to see you both. this show was great. just as hot as the last time young widows and coliseum played here together, even though that was in early august '06 at great scott.

aaron, didn't you ever see breather resist with similar light-fitted cabs? young widows, member-wise, is breather minus vocalist steve sindoni (now in pusher) and they, as is also the case with prideswallower, were part of the Maximum Louisville tour '07 with Coliseum (also, Evan of YW is Ryan of Coliseum's brother. They play together in Black Cross).

man, why didn't I ever see black cross... now that you mention it, I remembered that breather resist had those same cabs, but never put the 2 together.
