story had an odd twist right away so its interesting and other then the combat which works fine but could have been better it plays great it moves just the way they said it would and i haven't played too much but most buildings are climbable so far

I am playing it and it is visually stunning, the combat is good, the stealth kills are even better, the leaps of faith are amazing. As far as combat goes, I read one review where it said that it is like DDR and/or GH as far as there is a rhythm to it and once you get the rhythm/button hits in-sync you'll love the combat. I finally started getting it before I went to bed. I started to enjoy it alot more.

nothing like god of war, at least I don't think so. In GoH when you go and kill a boss or a sub-boss, the buttons pop on the screen, telling you which ones to hit. In AC it's 1 face button and a trigger button. The combat is based around real world sword fighting techniques, parry then attack. When your sword hits the sword of your enemy and you hit the attack button (on the 360 it's the x) at the right time it triggers the kill scene, which so far has been different everytime I have done it.

oh, when you mentioned ddrand gh, I thought only of how the buttons pop up in gow. im guessing their kill scene are scripted, but go through the combat engine. not movie cut scenes.

there combat is offensive moves which is strike step and grab and defensive which lets you counter and dodge, it is interesting cause everything you do if you press R1 then do it, its like a high powered move they call it

My system is only around 6-8 months old, and I have to run crysis on medium settings. However, medium looks better than all my other games on high.

as for specs, that's with a 2.4 core 2, 2 gig of 800mhz ram, and a BFG 7950 GT. The same gear would be pretty dirt cheap at this point. However, from everything I've read even people with the higher end systems can't run crysis on high. The graphics seem to be a slight bit ahead of what people currently have for gear. I think much like Supreme Commander that Crysis is going to be a game that spurs people to upgrade.

yeah, I've heard the same thing about the settings on Crysis. I'm looking to build my system with a quad core CPU 4GB of ram and either a single 640MB GeForce 8800 or 2 320MB SLI 8800's I hate that I'm forced to upgrade to Vista to run DX10 though. that was a lame move on M$FT's part...

on a 32 bit OS, you cannot actually use 4g of ram. Just warning you, as it will just run with 3 gig and ignore the fourth.

I hadn't heard that. If so, I think I may upgrade to vista. I could use the memory for recording, and DX10 would be pretty spiffy. The cards are getting a LOT cheaper now.

yeah, I'm still waiting on a response from my friend about the 4GB of ram mystery. I probably won't end up building my new PC until the 45nm CPUs are out in full and coming down in price. So I'm hoping the GeForce 9800's are out and dropping in price by then too, since they're the only DX 10.1 cards in development now.

Poopy. A lot of issues to be had with my recording software using the 64 bit xp. Not sure about vista. Since the recording is the main reason I would want more memory, it would defeat the purpose.

I've heard that there is a workaround to get it to "see" that extra memory, but what it does is allocate that extra gig to system tasks and functions so that it frees up the other 3 gig for applications and such. In other words, your apps/games/etc... will still only get 3 gig of memory to use, but none of that memory will be taken up by system tasks.

well, that would be handy... even if you can't get 4GB for games, 3GB is plenty enough for gaming, as long as the OS is only allocated the other gig and nothing of the other 3GB, that would be pretty sweet. I'll probably keep my current system for recording only after I build my new system. I dunno if I'll actually go for the full 4GB, since a lot of games still don't like 64bit OS's

on another PC related note, has anyone used Wine to run games? I know it supports some games, and I'd like to try gaming on my Ubuntu install

you are wrong there. the system is by far the best out of all the next gen consoles. unfortunately, it's the best system ever with no games for it.

its worth it more for the blue ray. I honestly think if they dont pick up the game sales. the playstation will get blown out of the water because the 360 has the superior online play and better games.

the PS3 just passed the Wii in number of consoles sold in Japan. People out there have the work kits and games are coming. there is no way that the PS3 will blow the 360 out of the water or the 360 will blow the PS3 out of the water. they can only truly destroy themselves from deep hardware issues (aka red ring of death or PS3's fan problems). the fact of the matter is that there are way way way too many people out there with ps2 and ps1 games that are going to not loose the ability to play.

the PS3's cell processor blows all of my computers put together in raw computing power. this includes the 1/2 dozen or so computers that I use at work and the 1/2 dozen at home all put together. that little unit just cranks. the 360 is just another PC with ok parts in it. it's been out longer so there are more games for it Plus deveopers got a head start since it's just a windows pc. the PS3 will develop into a kick ass machine. every iteration of the firmware adds so many new things (I love the infoboard thing that they just put in btw).

I have all 3 systems (360 elite, PS3 and Wii) The PS3 annoys the shit out of me, killer system-no games. I know that it will develop into an amazing system given what the Cell processor can do but I am tired of waiting. Uncharted is the first glimmer of hope as far as exclusive titles go. I purposely bought Call of Duty 4 just so I can have a game to play on it. Game kicks ass by the way. Lair SUCKED BIG DONKEY COCK. The graphics are stellar, the music great, the premise awesome, game play... see sucked big donkey cock comment.
I have AC for the 360 and I have not experience any freezing yet or the RRoD. Which I hope I never see. Xbox has an infinitely better online component, no browser like the PS3, but that browser sucks anyway. The layout of XBL is easier and more user friendly until... Home comes out, if it even does, in my lifetime. Plus Sony can go screw themselves. The 80 gig units do not have the backwards compatibility chips in them. Only the 60 gigs do, and those are being phased out. Sony does have fairer DLC pricing then Microsoft. I guess this whole rant is that they both have their positives and there negatives. Xbox wins for now. I will still hold out hope that the PS3 will level the playing field soon. Metal Gear Solid 4 anyone.

The xbox release was a cheap thrill and everyone is paying for it now.. including the consumers who got one. The real next gen system is the PS3. You can fight and argue all you would like about how there is no exclusive games for the platform, but game informer said it best that 3rd party exclusive games are on their way out considering that developers do not want to limit their gross profit to the success of one machine. Exclusive games will more or less be determined by 1st party development.

I just got an xbox 360. Picked up Mass Effect and Beautiful katamari. Mass Effect is insanely cool, in a nerdy star trek sorta way. I'm lookin forward to spending more hours with it, but I want to finish Mario Galaxy first.
