It's all fun and games until someone loses a testicle!

BTW - someone seems to be enjoying their gun more than the other two. Most metal pose evah!

dysentery is the heaviest, most fucking brutal single guitar band i've ever heard. every time i see them they make my balls explode like the death star. in the return of the jedi, not star wars. cuz jedi is way more satisfying.

toggletoggle post by thegreatspaldino   at Apr 27,2008 11:06pm
excellent guys, cant wait to hear it in full.

toggletoggle post by menstrual_sweatpants_disco   at Apr 27,2008 11:27pm
If Dysentery's music were a consumable food product, it would rival the cheesy gordita crunch in awesomeness.

toggletoggle post by corpus_colostomy at Apr 28,2008 6:35am

For those of you who are interested in recording with Rob @ Godless Bog studios, let me give you a glimpse of what to expect:

you will be working with SOMEONE WHO CARES ABOUT METAL.
in my experience, this is something to really consider when you decide you're ready to hit the studio. not everyone has 'metal ears,' and not everyone gives a shit if the final product parallels that of your musical vision.

you will be--working with someone who has great ears and who is dedicated to facilitating an experience which will get you the sound and the tone you want, deserve, and need. The 'wizard of bog' has great equipment, and you will record in a room with big cathedral ceilings with great acoustics! other rooms are available for expanded ideas and techniques.

equally important to the technical stuff, is the simple fact that Rob fed us and treated us like his own family. Spare bed's to sleep in, cold beers, guns, quads, private land etc..As a result, we felt extremely comfortable recording because he is just a down to earth metal brother who puts a lot of effort into the recording 'experience.' higher levels of comfort for the band equate to good chemistry, and in turn, increased productivity imo.

this was a very worthwhile, very smooth experience and we have the highest regard for godless rob! highly recomended!!

info about rates and stuff? my band isn't the tr00est metal band but we're shopping around for pre-production for the next album and if it rules enough then who knows

toggletoggle post by corpus_colostomy at Apr 28,2008 10:00am
let's say that the rates are "competitive."
call up dood and get a quote!

toggletoggle post by aaron_michael  at Apr 28,2008 10:27am
I need to hear the finished product soon!

toggletoggle post by GodlessRob at Apr 29,2008 8:26am edited Apr 29,2008 9:22am
First I'd like to say Nick, Blue, Eric and Will that it was a great pleasure meeting, chillin, eating and recording with you guys. You guys "brought" it, if you know what I mean. I've recorded other bands before and I have to say this was the best experience. 11 songs, drums, bass and guitars done, I may be the Wiz, but if you guys weren't on point with your tunes, things wouldn't have been as smooth. Blue you're still a pain in the ass, but I love ya kehd.

Gotta thank Pete (Arrowhead) too. He help me/us to achieve in 2 takes what I was proposing to do in 4 takes per song. Mr. Fucking efficiency! Nick would have hated me by the end of that!

Next: Will is coming by the studio today to do some vox. I should have a rough mix with some vox for you guys (Dysentery) to listen too tonight.

Brian DC and anyone else interested please hit me up through my bands myspace.
http://www.myspace.com/descentma
I will send you my # and we can talk. It is definitely a sliding scale based mostly on how much you can afford. One simple philosophy I have for this studio... Make it affordable with the best production possible on a limited budget. Part of the payment though is a really good cigar! Just warning you!

Thanks once again for the kind words guys and I look forward to working with more of my metal bros and sisters.

Oh and one more thing... Godless Bog Studios is just a working name for now, I wouldn't want to get sued or anything like that!!

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Apr 29,2008 9:03am
ok, blue would be pointing the gun at himself.

toggletoggle post by GodlessRob at Apr 29,2008 9:30am
Yea he had no clue how to hold the thing! Speaking of which I couldn't get Nick to take his hands off of the gun he has all weekend. He was running around all SWAT like!
Got more pics I am going to upload today.

i am planning on taking over a small south american country with that weapon.

toggletoggle post by Godlessrob at Apr 29,2008 1:16pm
Will's kickin' ass right now. Fucking Brutal!!!

toggletoggle post by blue  at Apr 29,2008 2:15pm
rob, I love how you gave credit to pete for suggesting the '2 amps at once' concept.

I'm guessing it was pure coincidence that I just happened to have an ABY pedal with me. Lulz.

Glad to hear that wills tearing it up. Just don't make fun of the song titles!

toggletoggle post by Godlessrob at Apr 29,2008 2:56pm
Will's laughin'. He was just recording his vox with a mouth full of pink peeps!

i brought my ABY pedal and we ran through two heads at once. this means 2 guitar takes but 4 guitar tracks.

i pretty much dont do any recordings any other way. it allows for a super thick sound without having to overload on guitar takes and sacrifice tightness.

You could just re-amp

*shrug*

re-amp shme-amp. i like instant gratification and MOAR AMPZ

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Apr 29,2008 7:25pm
dude...you can stack so many amps using the re-amp

it's the future, dude

toggletoggle post by corpus_colostomy at Apr 29,2008 7:25pm
the sound was monster and i will never reveal my amp head / guitar combos.....you wouldnt believe if i told ya!

toggletoggle post by blue  at Apr 29,2008 7:26pm
i have never come across anyone who re-amped. besides TEH KEN SUSI

toggletoggle post by Martins   at Apr 29,2008 7:27pm
Reveal that shit.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Apr 29,2008 7:27pm
Ian did it for us. We didn't have time to really go ape shit since tracking drums took a billion days. But I see nothing about the process that isn't anything but inherently awesome.

toggletoggle post by blue  at Apr 29,2008 7:31pm
well thats your fault for having a drummer that couldnt play your shit.

i've never had a problem going 2 amps at once, and it only shortens time in the studio.

I'm not saying that it's a problem going through 2 amps.

Stop sensationalizing everything, Bluesph.

I am watching Superhigh Me because moe mentioned it today and it sounds fantastic.

toggletoggle post by Joshtruction   at Apr 29,2008 8:22pm
reamping = more time consuming way to do what they already did in the first place. There is no right or wrong way, it all depends on the final product/quality of musician. If you have a piss poor guitar player (not the case here by any means) reamping could very well be the worst choice you can possibly make. I personally like it when an engineer can make one stereo track sound huge and be the end of it. Not everyone has the gear and know how to do that.

My votes in for the way this was recorded. Now go get stoned.... stoners.

toggletoggle post by ArrowHeadNLI at Apr 29,2008 9:33pm
for the record, when exactly did anyone say we didn't grab a dry track for later emergency re-amping? I don't know if Rob did or not, but it's not exactly difficult and god knows we have a billion options between the vetta, the gearbox gold plugins, amplitube, guitar rig, and the 2 or 3 heads laying around the house right now.

Then again, as josh said why bother if you can just get it right the first time.

toggletoggle post by corpus_colostomy at Apr 29,2008 9:46pm
there goes the whole bag o' marbles..on the gear we used..

toggletoggle post by blue  at Apr 29,2008 9:50pm
sssshhhhhh you cannot tell people taht it wasntttt all teeeewbs

toggletoggle post by ArrowHeadNLI at Apr 29,2008 9:54pm

Thing that's cool about re-amping is that you can try out a lot of different sounds and really tweak what your final sound is gonna be after you've already gone and gotten your performance.

On top of that, you can re-layer almost infinitely with it.

I don't know why I'm explaining, you clearly know the value based on the parts of your post I strategically removed.

toggletoggle post by ArrowHeadNLI at Apr 29,2008 10:09pm
that's the cool thing about re-amping: you can try different things til you find what you want.

then again, that's the cool thing about knowing what you're doing: you already know what you want.

In Dire Need lost at sea = SINGLE tracked line 6 heads. VettaII hd on the leads, and an HD147 on the rythe. Played through a mesa oversized cab with v30's. Not bad for single tracking! I bet we could have done a LOT better with more time too.

There is when someone else is paying for the time, right?

Of course, for a band that could afford 8 days of drum tracking, it must be a different story.
