Anyone hear this band yet. I am under the impression that it's most of the dudes from Decrepit Birth with just a different singer. Holy cow, this stuff rules. Talk about some brutal ass shit. And i feel like the production does the drummer a lot more justice than DBs latest. (Which i love as well)

yeah, their first cd was kind of boring, totally typical death metal, but cryptic implosion is all sorts of awesome. it seems like a good chunk of the california scene right now is giving a nod towards the sound and experimentation of early death metal, and the results are awesome; both odious mortem and decrepit birth's new ones are exciting and fresh, plus the new severed savior and debut from banishment sound super promising.

i really hope the cali scene keeps this up.

old decrepit birth had tim yeung on drums, mike something or other on second guitar and derek boyer (suffo / deprecated) on bass.

tim left after ATB, bringing aboard kc howard from odious.

mike was jailed for pedophilia and some other funky shit bringing on dan, axe of odious.

derek boyer matriculated to suffo which brought on risha, and risha left which brought on joel of odious.

i really liked the devouring the prophecy. it was pretty weird...actually has a unique atmosphere imo. in all honesty dont really like cryptic although i certainly respect it.

frankly, im pretty tired of this new 'west coast' prog movement.
i have focus, i have atheist albums and i have death albums.
those bands did it right, some time ago..

on a side note, cryptic is better than diminshing between worlds imo.
diminishing is sooo long winded and pretentious.
the lead tones are the worrrrrst i have ever heard and the song structures leave alot to be desired imo.

thank the lord i live on the east coast where brutality is still law.

on a side note i fully expect the severed savior to BLOW away these albums.
Mike Gilbert blows sotelo and eggers away. gilbert's approach is waaay more focused and much more purposeful imo. whereas odious and DB are in their worship stages, SEVERED is blazing new paths.

these guys blew me the fuck away when we played with them back in 05 or 06, by far the most entertaining band of the bloodletting north america 5 tour, I used to have their videos up on youtube, but kc asked me to take them down, mostly cause of the pedophile, but also because they "cringed" every time they watched themselves play to three people

yeah definately like the new odious more than the new decrepit, the new decrepit rules its just a little to "VAN HALAN" sounding with some of the leads. But still on my top ten of this year.

As far as owning athiest and death.. obviously that stuff influenced the stuff we're talking about heavily, although i wouldnt say they are doing it the same way just not as well, they definately take it in a more brutal direction, which if your not into as much as death, cynic... etcc.. than so be it, but i dont think that its the same just not as good.

This CD fucking rules and I can't starnd devouring whatsoever.

Decrepit Birth took it a little too far with their sound i think, If you listen to the 2006 promo that they put out, that is exactly what they should have stuck with. I've always kinda felt that Sotelo's lack of songwriting gives them their own feel. If you look at the tabs for ATB material, it literally looks like he wrote 50 riffs and then piled them all into one song haha.
