I'm listening to "Shift", and it blows my mind how great this band is.

Such consistently great music came out of those dudes.

They have so many "anthems". I have yet to hear any grind band that could be so intense, fast and brutal, all the while writing some of the catchiest, and most massive riffs (remember those?) in the genre.

Makes me think about what separates the really great hardcore bands of the past from todays "masters of the mosh".

I seriously want to circle pit around the room and pump my fists while I scream along, everytime I listen to them.

"Human 2.0" is an absolute masterpiece, and my favorite record of theirs.

Blows so hard that that dude died. RIP.

Also kind of disappointed in that new band that the drummer is doing. It's not that it's bad, but it's definitely not in the same league as Nasum.

i wouldn't say i love this band but def helped shape grind

toggletoggle post by boblovesmusic   at Apr 30,2009 3:14pm
My first album by Nasum was the Grind Finale compilation. I remember listening to the entire thing in one sitting and being like "holy crap this stuff is amazing." Absolutely one of my favorite bands.

toggletoggle post by BobNOMAAMRooney at Apr 30,2009 3:16pm
I liked their New Wave records.

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at Apr 30,2009 3:17pm
great band

toggletoggle post by BobNOMAAMRooney at Apr 30,2009 3:17pm
They did a sick cover of Under the Sea from the Little Mermaid soundtrack.

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at Apr 30,2009 3:23pm
mieszko's voice did a dead-on impression of bassy the crab on that cover.

toggletoggle post by BobNOMAAMRooney at Apr 30,2009 3:24pm
He got swept up in a ferocious circle pit with Laura Gainey and about 400,000 Thai people.

toggletoggle post by Jonahatwork at Apr 30,2009 3:27pm
dude, so fucking good. completely backed.

toggletoggle post by oscarct  at Apr 30,2009 3:58pm
nasum is great, but they came up way to much on shuffle on my ipod

toggletoggle post by darkwor  at Apr 30,2009 4:05pm
My fav grind band. The song "Scoop" has the most devastating fast riff ever.

toggletoggle post by BOBDEAD at Apr 30,2009 4:06pm
I was pretty psyched they covered "Bullshit tradition" by Dropdead..
Nasum kills....totally honored.

HAHAHA.

Same thing happens to me.

It's because all their albums have 30 songs!

That and the Dropdead styled song they wrote. They even named it "Dropdead" to hammer the point home

Old and Tired is an awesome song.

Love me some Nasum. One time I emailed Mieszko to ask him about tunings and he responded with the info I requested and said "Hope this makes you smarter." Got the chance to see them at the Commercial St. Cafe in Worcester in August of 1999... it was only like their 10th live show ever. Inhale/Exhale is pure grind at it's best.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at May 1,2009 8:07am
i forgot about the Commercial St. Cafe.

toggletoggle post by MetalThursday  at May 1,2009 8:09am
It was a forgettable place, except for the handful of good metal shows they had in late '99.

toggletoggle post by BlackoutRick at May 1,2009 8:59am
Love Nasum.

In the top Grind bands ever, including this album.

toggletoggle post by Kevord  at May 1,2009 5:00pm
I like Nasum. But not one of my favorite Grind bands. I think there are alot of way better grind.

toggletoggle post by MetalThursday  at May 2,2009 8:09am
Anders, the drummer from Nasum is one of the few drummers in extreme metal to use a single kick pedal. One-footed blasts, no double-bass. Respek!

toggletoggle post by reimroc at May 2,2009 8:10am
now i never knew that little tidbit of information. thats pretty sweet.

toggletoggle post by ouchdrummer nli at May 2,2009 10:23am
only one bass drum pedal is sweet? Here i was thinking that two was pretty badass. who knew?

toggletoggle post by yummy at May 2,2009 2:22pm
I could circle pit to this shit all day.

toggletoggle post by xitsdoomsdayx at May 22,2009 11:03am
we are nasum from swedan! No but on a note, nasum in a way are the unsung heros of grind. All you who dont consider them one of the top grind acts of all time, you still need acknoledge and pay your respect because somewhere along the line nasum influenced your fav. grind act. Weather it was a song or an album. SO for the record, BOW DOWN!

toggletoggle post by Hungtableed at May 22,2009 11:05am

LOL

Nasum is without a doubt, one of the most important grind bands of the later generation of grindcore itself. Years from now, bands will still be talking about and playing music full of their influence like you see with a band like Napalm Death.

Thing about Nasum, is that they stayed consistently awesome, while Napalm Death....

....not so much.

Napalm may have been there when grindcore was still green, but Nasum turned it into something better.

One of the most overrated bands in extreme music. I don't hate them, don't even dislike them. But very overrated.
