what do you think of the first act guitars?
some of them look really nice, i'm not talking about the ones from best buy
i'll be going to the store in boston.
either that or a faded, or sg standard.[ if i get that i'll be waiting till the end of summer]

Im getting a 74 Les Paul Custom. If i were you... WAIT for the sg. The more you wait for something, the better it seems, and the more fulfilled you feel!

I've been into the First Act store in Boston and everything except their $1000+ guitars looked like crap. My advisor at school knows the family that owns/started First Act and says that the company was literally made for preteens and tweens to learn to play on an instrument that cheap and crappy. They then got into the high end stuff but it's not worth it, IMO.

Definitely get something else. There are deals to be had...just look for them.

Best bet is to go to the super huge stores and try as many as you can. I really wouldn't buy a guitar without at last playing it once.

or Rondo!

craigslist etc

I was at the first act store not too long ago. The only guitars I would recommend are the les paul looking ones with the painted necks. They are cheap and feel great. Basically really decent sounding epiphone LP for 100 bucks. They have a couple other decent looking guitars there... a lot of 800+ guitars. Don't let people discourage you from checking out the store atleast once. Never know what you will find.

yeah definitely i wasn't going to buy right away just feel like going in and checking out some of the different guitars they have in there.
i probably won't end up buying one from there, but who knows, i haven't got a new guitar in a few years.

or Rondo!

+1

www.rondomusic.com

I currently have 5 Rondo instruments, and have given 3 more away as gifts. Hell of a lot of guitar for the money!

Buy this - $150

That guitar is really nice except that all the hardware is cheap and the neck is a baseball bat. Also the fretboard needed like an hour of oiling.

I'd gets something from Rondo or an LTD viper

first act guitars are pretty cool. some of them feel ultra awkward tho.

right now, im playing a jaguar baritone. I'm gonna be dropping in BareKnuckle painkillers soon. I'm also searching for a maple neck with an ebony fingerboard to replace what i have.

i will say that Rondo's shit, from what i have experienced first hand, is WELL worth the money.

i have an SX jazz bass copy, its gorgeous and it plays like a 700+ dollar fender. the woods used by SX is great and the craftsmanship of the body and neck are really good. electronics are meh, but for some reason it sounds great. they have some really nice looking strat copies on that site as well as other bad ass looking guitars (like the one posted above). Rondo is definitely my #1 choice for cheap, quality instruments.

btw my SX bass looks just like this one, but its fretted.

I'm totally GASing for an Agile 8-string. I just may have to plop down the deposit on one of 'em.
