Haven't listened to this in a few years. One of the most dark, depressing releases of the mid 90s, no doubt.

Go out and buy it. Or if you download stuff instead of buying it then here you go:

Awesome album, though my favorite has always been S.U.I.Z.I.D.

"Dictius...." is hands down the best. The most depressing and Landerfmans vocals are unmatched. "Dark Metal" to me sounds more like death/doom metal.

Dictius Te Necare is definitely their most infamous album, because of the vocals. Some of the most ridiculously tortured vocals next to early Burzum and Silencer.

....Or "Ark of Thought" by Deinoychus.

Gotta love the updated band picture on metal-archives. Excellent wheel chair shot.

I love this album, although I don't remember if I was a fan of the vocals.

It's not for everyone. I like it; the vocals are powerful, emotional and burn right through me. Have to keep in mind this album is from '94 as well..

Your vocals make me laugh.

J/K, they really aren't for everyone. Listen to Silencer if you want to REALLY laugh. Still they are one of my fav. BM bands ever.

Unconventional approach, an acquired taste, and definitely to my liking.

And Nattramn's vocals threw me off at first, but knowing he was forcibly institutionalized, completely changed the way I heard them.

True but he was institutionalized after the fact. Sure he was crazy, but what he did record in the institution, Diagnose:Lebensfahr or whatever had no trace of those kind of vocals. It was more like dark ambient/industrial and his vocals were actually pretty uncrazy yet still awesome.

Either way, "Death-Pierce Me" is still in my top ten BM records of all time. I think the music really speaks for itself and people need to stop putting all attention towards the vox; love em or hate em. What about the amazing clean channel guitar work? Sorrow filled melodies and dark crushing riffage?

True, it was after the fact, but once you've seen his photo and realize that he is a highly disturbed individual, it gives his music even more authenticity. I know a few people who hated Silencer at first, but after repeated listens and discovering the above mentioned mythology, it totally changed their perceptions. Vocals could never make an entire album, only enhance it. The music is well played, mournful, and dare I say, sincere?

4 marks for mentioning Diagnose:Lebensgefahr. I'm in need of more dark ambient lately, especially something of the Aural Hypnox fair.

Have you guys heard Zyklus by Lunar Aurora?

toggletoggle post by MikeOfDecrepitude at Jun 18,2009 10:51am
For whatever reason, I fell out of touch with Lunar Aurora after Of Stargates and Bloodstained Celestial Spheres and Ars Moriendi, but I liked both. I take it I should check that album out?

toggletoggle post by C.dEad at Jun 18,2009 10:52am
It's not totally dark ambient, alot of it is very martial-industrial as well. Very good mixture of both. Good luck finding that cd, pretty hard to come by I think nowadays. I might be full of shit, but maybe not? I know someone released a tape edition as well.

If you are looking for some fantastic dark ambient/death industrial, check out Exsanguinate or my significant others band Sewer Goddess in which I contribute:

Oh I know, I was just voicing my need for more dark ambient in general. I will check out the link above when I get home, thanks!

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jun 18,2009 10:57am
I think Lunar Aurora's best work is post 2001: Zyklus, Elixir of Sorrow, and the new one. Perhaps their best and most atmospheric song is ont he split they did with Paysage D'hiver, if you can find it.

Not really any industrial elements in any of their work, however if you like a dark, brooding, ambient black metal sound, Zyklus is highly recommended.

Cool. Not trying to toot my own horn (or hers for that matter) but it is pretty awesome.

Thanks in advance for checking it out.

I think I'm gonna listen to SewerGoddess tonight as well

Wow, this was a good thread.

3rd best album from one of my favorite bands ever. Suicide is the best followed by Dictius and this one. Hail supreme tortured dark music at its best.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jul 16,2010 7:39am
ha, it's always the same people that post in these threads

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Jul 16,2010 9:20am
I logged in just to say this, and then someone else already beat me to it, but I liked Dictius Te Necare a lot better than Dark Metal. The vocals are some of my favorites. There was a youtube clip of them where someone left in the comments "LOL tantrum metal!!!" and I lol-ed along with it.
