They started as a joke, right? Didn't they start making generic brocore garbage to make fun of other lame-ass hardcore bands in the area? I may have been misinformed, but seem to think this to be the case.

if i'm not mistaken Bloodbath was originally meant to be the same thing... or at least not to be taken seriously.

The thing I don't understand is if you're playing something as a joke, why would you try to make it sound exactly the same as the bands you're mocking rather than say, have the vocalist scream in a down's syndrome voice or have random parts where everyone in the band starts improvising.

I thought that's what the whole Tom Cruise thing was about.
