Anytime I hear one of this band's shitty songs on the radio there's like this ten second window of absolute bliss where I imagine that their useless junkie dildo of a singer died. I mean why else would anyone play one of their songs in 2010?

Core was a great record, dont like anything they have done since.

Yup, Core was their best by FAR. Purple had like two really good songs on it, and a couple that were passable, and the rest was junk. In fact the rest of their career was junk, and I don't see how it would appeal to anyone; STP transitioned from a fairly innovative style of textured yet minimalist metal with good songs to a weird sort of obnoxious rock where the songs were awful. I always thought the parallels of STP to Pearl Jam early on were an overstated cliche, but they both followed the exact same path in that respect.

I'm with Oscar. Core was/is great and I think they had some fleeting moments after it. Saw them open for Megadeth ("Countdown" tour) in 8th grade and it must have been STP's first national tour and they killed. (Pre-junkie) Weiland was being heckled by this dude up front and half way through their set, he said something, jumped off stage, K.O.'d the heckler, got back on stage and finished the set like nothing even happened. I thought that was grand and I've had a soft spot in my heart for them since. But then again, I have a soft spot in my heart for dudes who are what I call "heroin gay", like Keith Caputo. Core is a great album, though.

Then Megadeth came on and played "Holy Wars." It was the first of many times I would surreptitiously masturbate in public.

Because bands like STP and Godsmack are radio's idea of "metal" and people eat that shit up. Roadsteamer classifies these fans pretty well.

I don't think that people classify STP as "metal", and it's a bad judgement call to toss them in the same pile with a garbage band like Godsmack.
STP has been either grunge or mainstream rock. Godsmack has always been (nu)metal.
I vote Weiland gets back on drugs. I also vote that Erna drives his hummer off a cliff.

i second those recommendations. only early herion-influenced stp is real. "he big empty"is one of those songs i could listen to on repeat for an endless period of time.
