Hubble telescope lies. Universe was created 7000 years ago, so anything further than 7000 light years we cannot see yet.

Sue... I think the "Science Stuff" is a waste when we have the real issue south of our border. Cat Juggeling. We could use the Space Budget to finally put an end to this.

Really Sue you need go back to school.

and dinosaurs are a test of our faith.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Sep 10,2009 3:33pm
cat juggling is a serious problem south of the border?

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Sep 10,2009 3:34pm
The Jerk reference.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Sep 10,2009 3:35pm

It's great when people blindly follow their religion without using their fucking heads to actually think for a second. Just like when everyone thought the earth was flat (yeah i know stupid people still think that, i'm talking like 1400's though). Even then you know people looked out at the ocean or up on mountains and thought "hmm i'm no scientist or anything but, really looks round to me". It's the same now. There are these morons who take the bible verbatim and look at these and completely shut their brains off and say it's not possible.....even though the pictures are right in front of them.

I'm no scientist or anything but, universe looks pretty old to me.

Carbon-dating should be enough to shut these people up

nothing is ever enough to shut these people up

their mind is too limited to even think twice about questioning their faith or existence on this world. everything is unexplainable to them, which ultimately leads them to justify it as a testament to their faith in god. it's all about them and no one else. it's THEIR salvation their worried about.

toggletoggle post by dertoxia   at Sep 10,2009 4:21pm
even if fucking god himself showed up on one of these nimrods doorsteps and said "cmon you didnt really think the world was 6000 years old right? use your damn head. the bible was assembled from passages written thousands of years ago, those people didnt know shit about anything, you have technology and thousands of years of advancements on your side(eg. evolution). You should know better.......also you're going to hell."

they still wouldnt believe and would think it's just another 'test' of their 'faith'

IT'S A RIP IN THE SPACE TIME CONTINUUM, THE WORLD IS ENDING. IM GUESSING IT'S GONNA REACH THE EARTH IN ABOUT 3 YEARS, 3 MONTHS AND ELEVEN DAYS

is that even how light years work? Hang on, I'm trying to find a conversion chart in my bible. Can't seem to find it.

toggletoggle post by Martins   at Sep 10,2009 6:31pm
Funny thing is, that IS how light years work.

toggletoggle post by dertoxia   at Sep 10,2009 6:50pm
thats whats so cool about hubble. When it takes a picture of a galaxy that's 60,000 light years away......the light that enters hubbles detectors was created 60,000 earth years ago. We can take a picture of a star exploding that happened when dinosaurs were walking around. Or even see a star being created before the milky way galaxy even existed....a star which had probably already exploded but will take another few million years for the light from that explosion to be seen here.

Pretty much, it's time travel. Except instead of actually being there, we're just taking pictures. It's a sort of cosmic voyeur show.

Just think of the possibilities when the tech improves and we find a civilization. We'll be able to take pictures of the nude beaches on Gliese876d knowing that the hotties we see are now middle aged and worn out.

Interplanetary hidden cam porn, that's a future i'd like to live in
