Does anyone know what my best bet is for getting rid of probably close to 100,000 baseball cards from the mid-80s to mid-90s? I don't even give a shit if I've got cards worth big money, I just want to get rid of them and make a little cash off of them. I've tried a lot of sports card shops and they're only looking for 50s and 60s cards, so I'm wondering if there are websites I should target before I try to get rid of them on Craigslist. Any help would be appreciated.

100,000 cards? Damn dude. I'll take a few.

i can only imagine what you go in there. probably 98% crap but that 2% could be phenomenal

I actually have a lot of good stuff that I know of, I'm just too lazy and don't care enough to try selling the really good ones. I've got about 7 Ken Griffey, Jr. rookie cards, a couple Barry Bonds, Mark McGuire, etc. etc. etc. I also have a lot of full sets, close to full sets, and doubles and triples of almost full sets, haha. From about age 5 to 12, this is all I spent my money on and all I received as gifts.

try ebay? seperate the sets out into a bunch of no names with 1 or 2 good cards. then sell them for 50-100 bucks each

I don't really know if that would work unfortunately; I've checked out a bunch of auctions for baseball cards on eBay and most of them don't sell or sell for shit. I'd rather just sell the entire collection for a flat amount rather than spend hours and hours going through them all and then dropping nickels and dimes over and over for eBay fees.

isn't there a book that tells you the current value of baseball cards?
I've been meaning to do that myself; I've got a bunch of nice cards from the 80s and early 90s.

Becket, not sure of the spelling though.

Keep in mind that even if something is worth a good amount, the hard part is finding someone who will buy it for remotely close what it's worth.

Beckett is the mag. I stopped caring about cards like 10yrs ago. Apparently so did everyone else as all the card shops I used to frequent have since closed.

I stopped caring about them as soon as I realized it was a complete waste of time and money.

there should be baseball cards for musicians. stats should include record sales, drugs imbibed, and sluts railed.

toggletoggle post by aril at Sep 21,2009 2:47pm
yea, well this dude in middleboro has a legit Nap Lajoie card from the early 1900s and it's worth a few hundred thousand at least.

I know where it is. heist?

toggletoggle post by FuckIsMySignature at Sep 21,2009 2:49pm
i'll bring my own ski mask!

toggletoggle post by MarkFuckingRichards  at Sep 21,2009 2:50pm
I don't even have a fucking clue who Nap Lajoie is.

toggletoggle post by keynotecompany  at Sep 21,2009 4:13pm
Ebay > Beckett

Prices in general in magazines/price guides don't seem to hold up at all.
Referencing Ebay current/completed auctions is the best source by far to find basically anything's worth.
Surprised those magazines are still in print sometimes.

Nap Lajoie - perhaps Ty Cobb's greatest rival.

Ebay those cards for some good $, if they use buy it now as a bonus you will give them 99,980 cards.

Wanna trade?

Get your best cards graded...it's the only way cards are worth shit anymore.

toggletoggle post by MarkFuckingRichards  at Sep 23,2009 9:22pm
What do you mean by graded? Just appraised or something?

MarkFuckingRichards said[orig][quote]

basically. there's a number system generally between 1 and 5 that appraisal folks will use to rate condition and crap... but that costs money generally and it's only worth the cash if it's like george mikan's rookie card or whatever. unless you have some insanely rare shit i would forget that.
