is the song black iris rising on your site from this cd or is it old??

toggletoggle post by Joe/NotCommon   at Apr 6,2004 11:44am edited Apr 6,2004 11:44am
that song is on the CD, but that version isn't the complete version of what is on the cd. It wasn't fully mixed and mastered.

cool it sounded pretty good (accept the kick drum) i would be interested in hearing the mastered version but you know who could record that alot better?.........

toggletoggle post by Joe/NotCommon   at Apr 6,2004 11:47am
haha, don't tell me. If you want to record any NotCommon bands you need to sell yourself to them, I don't care where they record as long as it sounds good.

i would consider doing kubrick for free since i remember sarah from millbury.. i dont know if she remembers me? im sure she knows my girlfriend.

arent record labels supposed to pay for recording too?? not just dups? i realize every label runs different but that sucks. if i was in a band and had to pay for a recording i would pay to dup it myself and just get shows through the label

Most labels don't help bands get shows at all, thats just something I do.
I can't afford to pay for bands to record, if a band I want to sign doesn't like the deal then they can just say no.
Phantom Limb and Disengaged record themselves, Kevorkian's Angels went through some studio in Quincy, but I believe are planning to record at New Alliance in Boston and Tsunami sound in Portland in the future. Conifer is going through Tsunami sound and Raising Kubrick is going through their friend.

its really not that bad that we have to pay for the recording ourselves, joe does EVERYTHING else, and he does it damn well. id rather have a label that promotes the crap out of us and gets us shows (not to mention a tour) than just paying for a recording. if i wanted that, id sign with metal blade.

yep, what Blue said.

im not knockin joes label, i know every label runs different. having joe do all the legwork for you guys seems to be paying off for you but i am a corporate minded whore that would rather dup my own shit and reap the prophet rather than taking a slice. a distributor is always key(hope that wax lax thing works for ya) not to mention a production company to book shows

i have some friends who have been on rodent popsicle, bridge 9, pindrop, stillborn and a few others i cant think of off the top of my head they paid for recordings, dups, distro and usualy booked the bigger shows and the festival type shit but the bands where always free to play local shows and set up there own shit

If you recorded and duplicated the cd yourself, you wouldn't really have much distribution.

toggletoggle post by Josh_hates_you  at Apr 7,2004 11:20am edited Apr 7,2004 11:20am
thats why i said having a distributor is key and a promo company to back the band would help as well.

if i realy wanted i could talk to bill toxic from rodent popsicle records and piggyback on his distributor or im sure joe notcommon would be nice enough to take a buck per cd to distro it at his shows and online or through wax lax

I don't know if I can get distro other things through Lax Wax, since Lax Wax is already piggybacking NC on their distro deal.
I am down to do trades and distro other stuff at shows and online, no problem. I haven't really dealt with doing stuff on consignment but I could do that I suppose.
