Very partial to,
anything Quebecois
Winter
Demilich
Crematory
Entombed
Dismember
Treblinka
old Darkthrone
You've got good taste in DM. Good Swedish stuff, I'm assuming by old Darkthrone you mean the stuff where they basically sounded like a Swedish death metal band.
I'll add my some of my personal favourites from that period, Nihilist, Morbid, early Therion, Grave, Unleashed, Grotesque, and LIERS IN WAIT. For newer Swedish DM, check out Tribulation, NOT the old band, who are also cool, but rather the newer Swedish band.
Nice to see Treblinka mentioned in this thread, they have my favourite logo of all time.
For American DM, I'm on a huge Obituary kick, throw in some Autopsy once in awhile. Also been digging Vasaeleth, who fucking rule, and Encoffination, for newer shit.
Well, well, well... Serves you right, you grammar nazi fuck
<3
not grammar related. it was a retarded typo.

this time of year I really like Death Metal that is thick, clunky, dry, while being an unrelentingly staggering, bloody mess of a sound. Scandi/Quebecois is the best fit, aside from the occasional US band.
spinning my Funebrarum/Interment split right now.
Good call on the Demilich and Dismember. Especially like An Everflowing Stream. That CD is bitter as fuck. Carcass - Necroticism is also good for winter.
I like the newest Septic Flesh for winter, too. It's got some cheese, but it's pretty epic.
Not hearing the winter in Elvenefris, though. That is definitely a summertime record for me.

Like An Everflowing Stream is my favourite Swedish DM LP ever made, just unrelentingly brutal. Demilich is a good call, depraved vocals.
*somewhat off topic side note*
the track "Winter" off of Nargaroth's Jahreszeiten album is certainly one of the most brutal things that bastard has tracked. some interesting transitions make it almost death.
Anything in between "The Karelian Ithsmus" and "Tuonela" makes me hard.
Also, Obliteration from Norway are not only great death metal for this time of the year but great dudes too. Had the pleasure of playing with them and spending the next two days partying with them. Foreigners would rather drink PBR over any of our "fancy, look at me" craft beers haha..
