vital remains will cancel. lazaro is in deep shit for violating child labor laws with his fill-in members.
Ya know, regardless of how you feel about the bands playing, buddy didn't tell any of the bands that they HAVE to sell tickets. He's taking responsibility for what i would assume is a large amount of money, so that this show can happen at the middle east downstairs. If the show doesn't do well, he's gonna be out a fuckload. Now, i'm not saying that should make you go to the show, but it does deserve a little respect. How often do promoters actually take responsibility for promoting a potentially costly event so that local bands can play in an awesome venue like downstairs? As far as i know, not that often...
20 bucks for a handful of locals I can see almost every day of the week for 5 bucks (and some i wouldnt bother seeing at all for free) plus a band of fill in dudes covering vital remains songs?
EPIC FAIL.
I guess I applaud the effort like jim said but this lineup wont sell out the upstairs let alone put a dent in the downstairs.
Actually the top 4 bands on this bill wont draw more than 50 people. Can't tell you how many local shows VR has headlined with less than 50 people payed at the door. not to mention how many times i have seen every other band on this bill with less than 50 people (sometimes less than 10).
Upstairs holds 194. Downstairs holds 475. I would legit be AMAZED if you actually have 100 people paid thru the door for this event. almost guarunteed to have more band members at this show than paid entrees.
I'm not even trying to be an asshole. Just being very honest. Think about some of the awesome tours that have left the downstairs barely half full that would have maybe sold out the upstairs. Not my $$ on the line so i dont really care. just sayin.
Well, i hope for my sake your wrong. Or else I'm fucked haha. I appreciate the feedback though. I'm sure there's been times where all these bands have played empty rooms, mine included. But under the right circumstances, this being on a saturday and in the city, I believe it will draw. I know Smite The Righteous and Infinite Descent sold out the upstairs before. We drew 60 last time we were there as well. TWBD also has a solid following. At least it's not a pay to play show. Wish me luck haha
you do realize that VR is playing just 2 weeks before this with hate eternal and origin with some local openers at the palladium for same 15 -20 bucks right?

This, this, a thousand times this. The Middle East show feels all kinds of redundant.

I think I am getting off my ass and going to this one. I live closer to woostah.
If I am near the middle east for the 23rd I would def pop in.
This sentence alone has me believing in you as a potential good promotor. It's nice to see someone come on this board who'll read the critisism, but not start some big dummy arguement about it. Kudos.
If we're not busy that night, I'll go to this.

Thanks man. I'm just a dude in a band before I consider myself a full-on promoter. But going forward I do plan on putting together more shows like this. I'm just trying to put together awesome lineups of local bands at prominant venues in front of big crowds to get everyone noticed without forcing bands to sell tickets with or without national acts. There's a lot of people in these bands that have been good to my band over the years. This is kind of a way of showing my appreciation to them.
P.S. I think all these bands are particularly awesome, but if you are unfamiliar with Necronomichrist, here's your chance to see one of the very best death metal acts in New England.
So I walked out after boarcorpse finished with carcass and got pizza. Then walked by the back of the building and heard another band. Turns out austrailis (sp) got on this show.
Necronomichrist had someone kicked out for moshing hard.
I saw the guy and his friends arguing with security outside after it happened. It was serious drama for a while. Apparently, someone pushed him, and he knocked into a pregnant woman. His argument was, "Why was she near the pit if she is pregnant?" Security said, "The pit was toward the front, not way back there." Whatever... People were really angry about it. The guy ended up getting back in later on.
Well, approximately 200 tickets sold. Broke even. Wish there were more people but I'm not complaining. All in all I think it worked out well for my first real stab at this. Everything ran smooth and fast. Very few problems and all the bands did a great job. Having Australis on at the last second was a bonus. Those guys kill it. Rev, thanks for coming down and taking some great shots. I learned a lot from this event. Hopefully the next one will smoke this one \m/
