HAMMERS OF MISFORTUNE: title track currently streaming on Pitchfork.com
The new full-length album 17th Street out October 25
With a newly-rejuvenated line-up and their signature sound intact, San Francisco's HAMMERS OF MISFORTUNE have returned with 17th Street, a brash and heartfelt song cycle, blending the best elements of NWOBHM, Thrash, Doom, and American Folk music while somehow sounding unlike any of these. Fans can now check out the title track off 17th Street exclusively on Pitchfork.com. The first single The Grain, also available as a lyric video, can be checked out HERE.

Hmm. I don't see the reply that is apparently posted in this thread but I have every confidence that this album is gonna rule. |
i heard the grain a couple weeks ago and thought it was better than anything from the last album. i think this album is going to be a good'n. |
I actually liked the last double-album a lot, especially the Chuch of Broken Glass half, but this one purports to be better on all levels. |
after the august engine and locust years, i thought it was a huge disappointment, but still well done. |
After loosing Scalzi as vocalist it's hard for them to maintaint eh same appeal with me, especially rebounding with a boring double album. That being said, I'm excited to listen to this when I get home. |

Bought this today and digging it. Sounds like Queen and Rainbow mixed into the older HoM sound. |
it's not an album, it's a "song cycle"
pitchfork=hipster, no? |
Pitchfork today is about as hipster as Rollingstone Magazine was 20 years ago. |
