no i'm saying yeti's non-vote is still a vote. choosing to not be a part of a problem doesn't make it go away. and dude it's election day, where random political statements matter the least, if i have to hear another argument for any politician my head is going to fucking explode.
Going in the next hour or so but not sure if I want to vote for Obama as a means to cockblock Romney or to essentially waste my vote on a 3rd party candidate.

If everyone "wasted" their vote on a 3rd party candidate, then we would actually get one into office. I don't understand the hesitancy to not vote Democrat or Republican.
That being said, I voted Libertarian for President, Governor, and US House of Representatives. For all the rest (most state reps, etc) I voted Republican because I hate bleeding heart faggotry, and small-time Republicans can't do a lot of damage at state level.
The hesitancy, in my view, is simply due to exposure. Also, did you watch any of the third party debates? It was a joke. If I was a totally non-informed voter, I wouldn't vote for them either after seeing that. It was borderline hilarious.

doesnt really matter who you vote for, this is just political theatre for you. Make you believe your vote counts and matters, it is all pre-determined.
Because I happen to disagree with Romney more than I agree with anyone else, so a vote for his major opposition is the best option in my case, even if I may agree with Jill Stein or Gary Johnson more than I do Obama. This is a practice which is entirely too common, but unfortunately it is the sad truth of our democratic process.

I vote based on the issues, and the Libertarian Party most closely shares my views.
Understood that 99% of voters are morons, but you can easily learn about any candidate by doing 10 minutes of research online.
Oh totally, man. They're closest to my views as well. I just think it's a bit of a pipe dream to expect the average person to put in any amount of time getting informed.
Today, Drinking Red wine alone and recording songs for the Gemini full length is far more important... Both parties support the war for Israel, as they have to, the candidates are pre determined...I may be a Gemini , liking two things at the same time, but both these parties are the demise of America. again, Ross for Pope 2012. DO IT!
with my dark hand i did cast my ballot for the ancient ones.

I voted, felt really good, especially filling in the bubble for the Presidential race. Lots of reasons, but some of biggest ones to vote the way I did weren't ideological, but just a matter of hard numbers:
Unemployment rate three years ago (10.2%) vs. Unemployment today (7.9%)
Stock market three and a half years ago (6500) vs. Stock market today (13000)
Jobs losses four years ago (-800K a month) vs. Job gains over the last two and a half years (average of +150K a month)
Gas prices summertime four years ago ($4.12/gallon highest national average in history) vs. Gas prices this past summer ($3.67/gallon national average)
I feel like all else aside that if I didn't vote affirmatively in support of that kind of major shift in the right direction, that's like saying the record doesn't count when it comes how I vote. Can't afford to vote against my own pocketbook.
I can not for the life of me ever understand why people think this. I hear it all the time. Absolutely crazy; is it just because it's NOT American news? So you trust it all of a sudden?

why are you so surprised? it's widely accepted to have stellar coverage especially of world news and high standard for opinion articles. it just happens to be started in qatar. go read the main page, it's a regular news outlet. crazy or what?

You are a fucking idiot if you think any mainstream news outlet is 'steller' or honest. Give me a break.
And you can't see the obvious biases in Al-Jazeera (or any other news network) than you must be putting up the blinders in favor of having a new outlet that you can pretend is superior.
"Go read the front page."
I LIVE IN THE MIDDLE EAST (for most of my time) where this is the main news on the TV all the time. I'm not an Al-Jazeera n00b, to say the least.
Are we just talking about Al-Jazeera English here, or what? Even so, fuck them.
I am SLIGHTLY singling them out, yes. But rest assured I don't think they are much worse than other news broadcasters.

International perspectives and unsensationalized reporting. *shrug*
Plus, actually representing free speech in the Middle East, which is pretty fucking novel.

Obviously the notion of an unbiased news source is a contradiction in terms - perspective _is_ reality. There _is_ no unbiased truth.

Yeah. iI can read bias. no blinders here. doesn't mean it's lacking for good, sourced articles, which is a rare thing from anywhere.

See I know but why do people love to read news that's biased towards a different direction than what they are used to? That makes it 'better' bias all of a sudden? I THINK I'M OVEREATING but it's just something I always hear 'Al Jazeera is soooo aweeessommmeee' (said more eloquently) from people that don't even know what 'Al Jazeera' means.
You are definitely right about the freedom of speech though; at least on Al-Jazeera English. Whatever that one show where people call in and complain about shit is; pretty cool to see that going on over there.
No matter how you cut it; it is a still a Muslim news outlet.
My guess is that some of us USAns are occasionally impressed by Al Jazeera because our own propaganda machine isn't even willing to address any of the costs (financial, geopolitical, human, etc.) or ethical disasters inherent in U.S. policy towards the Israel-Palestine conflict, our wars of conquest in the Gulf/Northern Africa/Central Asia, our bipartisan system of torture and murder (especially as related to our Islamic adversaries), etc. Clearly these concerns are just as relevant to many in the U.S., though you wouldn't know it based on the output of the pathetic handmaidens to power that you find from MSNBC to FoxNews. Truth is always refreshing, regardless of the source, especially on the diet of lies we are used to here.
Also, there's the simple fact that Al Jazeera is an international mainstream media organ, which is distinctly a different phenomenon than a U.S. mainstream media organ. The standards of "journalism" in this country are so corrupted and meaningless, that virtually any professional foreign outlet, whether the BBC, AJ, Asia Times, or whomever will seem infinitely more intelligent in approach than even the better U.S. outlets like CNN and the NYT. It's simply a higher quality product.
