this movie ruled. one of the best period pieces i've seen in terms of incorporating horror elements. only other one which stands in line with The Witch for me is Ravenous (great fucking movie by the way)

the goat 'Black Phillip' is the star of the show. i love that dude.

yup. good movie. fuck religion. also, i thought kevin smith did a great job on red state. it's not related to this movie in any way, but if you're who i think you are, then i know you hate organized christianity.

that's an understatement. i grew up in Alabama, deep KKK bible-belt territory. baby-factories for baby-fuckers on every street corner, cannibal soup-kitchens and whatnot. i hate monotheism almost as much as i hate the Satanic Temple (a.k.a. Hot Topic Trolls Playing Therapist).

you might be a redneck if you know the meaning of "mystery meat", "sweet pork", "long pig", etc, in Da Souf: "how sweet is that pork?" = "did you torture the animal to death before butchering them?"

the Satanic Temple ruins everything. sluts.

*spoiler alert: there was no orgy. just pseudo-intellectual ex-goths desperately trying to be relevant. filming without consent is legit normal for this crowd. what a sad bunch of posers.

https://broadly.vice.com/en_us/article/we-attended-the-satanic-temples-naked-ritual-endorsing-the-witch

'Cell phones were supposedly banned, but numerous screens flashed throughout the audience.
...
One man I spoke to was shirtless, save for a leather harness. He wore a necklace that may well have been a prehistoric bird's rib cage. But he wasn't a Satanist—he was a stripper who had heard about the ritual through a friend at work and thought it might be fun. "I was worried my outfit was too boring, but I was wrong," he said. "Typical New York. Everyone just wore black."

Most of the guests I spoke to said they didn't identify as Satanists. Outside of Blackmore and two of her performers, the only other Satanist I found was a thin twenty-something man with dark hair, heavy eyebrows, and a vape pen featuring a sticker of a pentagram. He told me he held weekly meetings with five fellow Satanists, because "there aren't a lot of us in the city."

"We only have a pseudo-chapter in New York" Blackmore later explained. "There may be more here than you realize." As we spoke, two shirtless men made out on a couch as a photographer snapped photos. '
