why? its not a gimmick like "vertual" boy was. the dual screens HAVE a purpose andbecause of the purpose... there are a ton of new interactive gameplay options available. like the new Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow sequel coming out for the DS in sep... the map is displayed the whole time on the top screen so you dont have to hit select to view it, thus interrupting your gameplay. also, in boss battles, once you deplete the bosses life 100%, you then have to use the stylus to draw out a seal which, if drawn close enough, seals the boss away for good. if you mess up (its not going to be impossible to do) the boss gets a little more life back and you have kill him again and draw the seal again. and metroid prime: hunters works REALLY well with the touch screen as well. using the stylus for turning and double tapping the screen to jump works flawlessly. Nintendo made this as a replacement for the gameboy advance... the virtual boy WASNT a replacement for the gameboy. Nintendo gambled with the virtual boy and lost... but they would NEVER gamble with a successor to a popular platform. so despite what people think, it isnt going to fail. and dont even worry about the PSP taking away all of the business for the DS. the PSP, while having great graphics, doesnt have much battery life and is trying to be way too many things at once for its own good. while i dont see a great future for it, it IS going to sell well mainly because the graphics are so amazing and because its sony. i have heard of numerous problems with the japanese launch PSP's. buttons becoming stuck, broken, numerous pixels going out, very low battery life... also, Nintendo has been the front runner in the portable gaming market since i was 5... they know what they are doing.
