FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: AMON AMARTH studio report! 5/01 An early start at the crack of dawn to go pick up all gear at the Amon house, and about 4 hours later we arrived and installed ourselves in the studio. First day was dedicated to sound check of the drums and Jens (Producer) and Damin (Drum tech) did an awesome job making the drums sound just amazing! We're all in good spirit and it feels like we have the Gods on our side… 5/02 Today we started recording the drums and so far we still have wind in our sails, things are going really smooth and we managed to put two songs on tape before we called it a day. During lunch we also sneaked out to the local "systembolaget" for a booze-up. (Alcohol is only available in certain stores and they're not open Sundays and holidays so we were certainly running low after this long weekend) 5/04 Now we have recorded drums for 4 songs and everything goes as scheduled. On this recording we tried something new, previously only one guitarist laid down support guitar for the drum recording. This time both Olavi and Johan plays along with Fredrik all the time, just to create the right tension. Which works excellent! For every hour that goes by we feel that these are the strongest set of songs ever! We also did some rehearsing the other night on some odd extra material that won’t be on the album. 5/08 We returned to the studio around 2pm after taking the weekend off. (Well, not at all of us since the two football-interested guys managed to get in trouble with the law at Sunday's game so they showed up a bit later than planned…) Friday was very productive and we laid down the drum tracks for two more songs, and with one more song on tape today all drums for the album should be recorded by Wednesday as planned. Here's a short video clip from the recording of the drums: click here 5/10 Around lunch time today we finished recording all drums, so we decided to take the rest of the day off from the studio and went out for some beer. Found a nice Irish pub with a wide selection of beer, and for some mysterious reason we ended up having dinner at a Chinese place before we finished the night with some tequila shots at the local metal pub. Back at the studio we decided it would be a great idea to lift Johan S's car… 5/11 Today we started to try out the guitar sound. On this album we chose the Hughes & Kettner tri amp which turned out awesome. Fat and heavy, just the right sound we were looking for and we can tell that this album is going to have the best guitar sound we ever had. Tomorrow we are going to start laying down the guitar tracks and it's going to be exciting to see the new songs take shape. http://www.amonamarth.com
