this is exceptionally hard when your grandmother's maiden name is brown...i can trace it all the way back to the 1850 census but then it's damn near impossible
the reason i don't know these things is because it's like a big secret in my family or something, nobody talks about it. as far as i know i'm the first person to bring it up in this generation.
ancestry.com is limited because you can trace most roots back to the original country, but after that you pretty much have to go to said country and get the records yourself
