I dunno Ken, I disagree pretty strongly. I agree that Proposition 8 violates the civil rights of gay people in the United States and I think it is a healthy exercise in democracy to try to create change through a peaceful, organized protest such as this. If the government is going to treat gays like second class citizens and bar them from the same privileges as others based on their sexuality, then society as a whole either needs to push for change or accept the consequences of governmental discrimination.


i'm with you on being against the violation of civil rights. i just think skipping work is a bad way to prove the point. what if a gay person's company was supportive of gay rights? wouldn't skipping work be a slap in the face to that supportive company? why make businesses pay for the government's transgressions? i think there are a lot more constructive ways for people to peacefully make their points and have their voices heard.


I tend to think that if the company were supportive of gay rights, they'd happily grand the person his or her day off.
