There's a similar mood and similar jagged riffs. i think their melodies have gotten more interesting and i find the clean vocals to be much more interesting than the harshes. as far as miserable riffs go, i consider discouraged ones to be their most miserable sounding album, and tonight's decision is pretty miserable also. i personally enjoy the vocals of jonas much more than those of novembre's singer and i find them on par with akerfeldt's vocals. jonas has an understated and honest quality to his voice that isn't found often in metal. plus i'm a big fan of his lyrics. we might not agree on all things katatonia, but at least we can agree on one thing: mozzarella and tomato on french bread is a hell of a sandwich.
