...sort of So the other day I was lazily flipping through issue #188 of Terrorizer when I noticed they had an Obscene Extreme 2009 review spread. I don't know how we missed it when the issue came out, but here's what they had to say: "Band of the decade, Ramming Speed thrust their exotic blend of Boston crossover thrash into the happy wet faces of a multi-colored crowd, braving the rainin ponchos just to catch a glimpse... Why their set wasn't extended for, well, the rest of the weekend will remain a mystery. Looks like we'll have to make do watching their videos. On repeat. Forever." Now this is in fact a live review and when it came down to the official Terrorizer Magazine top releases of '09 I don't believe we made the list. HOWEVER! We came in #13 on Deputy Editor James Hoare's personal top 20 list as posted on his Terrorizer blog. James had this to say: "Rapidly snapped up and re-released by Candlelight for Europe, Boston thrashers Ramming Speed lashed out with a venomous, death/grind-laden take on a genre quickly being reduced to a Technicolor parody. Ropy (non-)production couldn't overpower the songwriting which erred towards direct, yet tuneful, blasts of hair-swirling hardcore fury somewhere in the sonic Bermuda Triangle between Black Flag, Napalm Death and DRI." This obviously totally rules. Moving on, 2010 is the year that Ramming Speed quit fucking around. Holed up in our windowless compound in Allston, MA we've been writing at a breakneck pace for a new full length. The new record will most likely be put out on a very exciting new label. Or two new labels, as seems to be the way this band works. We'll be making an announcement about this as soon as its appropriate. In June we'll be boarding a plane and heading back to Europe for our second tour across the pond. The tour is being handled by Alerta Booking (wolfbrigade, dropdead etc) and they will also be releasing a European version of our Always Disgusted, Never Surprised 7" to go with the trek. Thank you dearly to everyone that opened up their basement, bomb shelter, kitchen, backyard, squat, and living room to our band this last year. We'll see you on the road in '10! Jonah / RS
