Unfortunately, I grew up in Woonsocket but moved to Mass as soon as I could....still there are a couple of decent areas. I would never move back (unless I was told I only had a choice between there and Providence)

i used to livve in Franklin, MA and found cool cheap stores in Woonsocket

My ex was from the NW corner of RI, so I had to drive 146 through Blackstone Valley on the way there... I can definitely imagine it being full of misplaced hicks, who might fit in a little more in New Hampshire maybe.

And we used to go shopping in Woonsocket... Some of the downtown areas seem well developed and nice, but that's for only about a 2 minute stretch it seems. What a shithole.

Newport is the best place in RI.

For rich kids who sponge off their grandparents maybe.

some things don't change, but a lot has happened in 20 years. there are assholes and creeps everywhere. it's not different in any other slum in any other city. providence is a good place to live.
