i read a small fraction of this article, but i sure as hell didnt see this. |

a link or something would have been nice, king obscure. |
my friend Camille wrote the article and she asked to use my profile photo for the pretty girl section...heh as opposed to the crazy, bloody ones...
"Consequently, thousands of music promoters invest thousands of hours searching MySpace for users with similar tastes, then inviting them to be friends. In the past three weeks, I’ve received requests from a Foo Fighters tribute band from Long Island; Zolar Plexus, a mawkish Denmark foursome that sonically falls somewhere between Bon Jovi and Enya; Human Bone Bicycle Sciences Industries, a grindcore/deathmetal Hartford band that sounds like grizzly bears eating Kim Jong Il alive; and Serge N, a Russian singer-guitarist who manages simultaneously to evoke Gorky Park, the Doors, and a soap-opera theme song.
Monika Majewska, the twentysomething Hartford woman who fronts the grizzly-bear-eating-Korean-dictator grindcore band Human Bone Bicycle Sciences Industries, signed up for a MySpace profile because so many people kept asking her band if they had one. "Every time we’d go to a show, somebody would say, ‘Are you on MySpace?’ I was like, ‘All right, we gotta do this.’ Seriously, within like a week I’ve gotten 500 friends. Insane." |

oh, I was thinking phoenix as in AZ |

I was checking out Carina's myspace site one day because it has a link to her website and I love her pictures and then I noticed Camille's picture in Carina's friends section. I thought she looked familliar from when I lived in Boston. I sent her an invite from the HBBSI myspace site and she responded with Q's about myspace saying she was writing an article. I hadn't noticed that she wrote for the Phoenix when I invited her. I ended up calling her and we talked for a few minutes. Now she's a friend of my personal myspace site. It worked out well. I appreciate the mention. I was eager to speak with her about myspace because i had just decited to start booking and networking myself that week. I had gotten so fed up with all the bullshit and drama that goes along with having to depend on other people. That is when I realized how amazing networking on myspace is. Myspace is a great tool for anyone who is trying to reach people. I am a genuine fan. |
