I don't know if that is for real... There was another thing like this that looked like a tampon with a spike that came out of it, but it was just a hypothetical device to bring about conversation about rape.
I prefer the method found in Neal Stephenson's cyberpunk novel 'Snow Crash', in which the girls have miniature needles within their vagina they can activate upon insertion to paralyze the rapist.
