I hope they went back to standard tuning this time. I doubt DoD will be a complete masterpiece like Somewhere In Time, or Seventh Son, but I hope it's worth buying.

I dont think Seventh Son is a masterpiece. Somewhere In Time is great though. I think their finest work is on Powerslave.

Good call on the artwork...but an excellent cd nonetheless, i don't care what anyone says Brave New World was awesome too...however i think Powerslave, Piece of Mind, and Seventh Son... are the power trio of the Iron Maiden Catalogue.....

I just saw a commercial for the new Maiden album, has anyone else seen this thing? All digital, the whole band racing around some pointless place in dune buggies or off-road-something-or-others. Not judging the album, but the ad sucked ass.

WORST ARTWORK EVER! "hey guys, let's ruin a perfectly good eddie painting with some poorly rendered poser figures." what were they thinking? but anyway, it's the music that counts.i heard some of it today and was impressed. that commercial is crazy. i saw it while i was watching family guy. my favorite maidens are number of the beast, somewhere in time, and piece of mind. UP THE FRIGGIN IRONS!

WHATS WRONG WITH THE FUCKING ARTWORK!! Come on, cant they change it around a little once in a while. All the other albums are the same fucking style.

here's what's wrong with the artwork: they took a great painting and layered in all kinds of generic figures made in poser or a comparable program. i saw the artwork before and after this addition, and i thought it was some kind of joke. i appreciate many different artistic styles, ranging from ancient to many current styles. the problem here is that these two styles just don't mix. but enough about artwork, the music contained within the album is great, and that is what really counts. maiden still kicks ass, and after a career that long, you're bound to have a few bad album covers here and there. let's enjoy this metal masterpiece

you shouldn't have to judge an IRON MAIDEN album based on its artwork they've been around long enough where it shouldn't matter dammit!

YES!! Just picked it up at Newbury for 12 bucks! (is it me or is that a kickass deal). Anyway I love it, it kicks ass, and the cover art is great.

Newbury Comics loses money on most CD sales, that's why they sell all that annoying trendy crap. Food for thought. I think it's a great store.

iron maiden revolutionized metal, and can still play faster and better than most bands out there. ya gotta respect em for that.
dance of death is musically real good, probably better than brave new world, and that says a lot. the cover art does suck, though. theres no denying it.

I dont know, i think that Brave New World is better, but I cant come to a real decision yet because I havnt listened to Dance enough. It definately kicks ass though. I really dont see what is so bad about the cover. Seriously guys at least its origional. Would you rather they plaster a giant picture of themselves in heavy make up on the front? What's so bad about the 3d figures? I like this cover better than some of their other ones.
