Looks like I'm running later than I wanted to...but fuck it
That Rox show was our best one so far! Seemed like we played in front of our biggest crowd then, and it seemed like more people actually recognized the vital remains song we did and told us it sounded awsome.
you rockin that cover on the 22nd or do you have a new one?
nope, we have someone fillin in on drums for that show, hes not quite as fast at blastin as little Ant. so we wouldnt be able to pull off that song. Plus we didnt really have time to go over any covers, so we might just play a newer Coffin birth song. If we had more time to practice the set we might have done a dissection song.
went to a show @ the qvcc last night...many emo/hardcore kids who would talk amongst themselves until they heard a drawn out open power chord or the vocalist say "let's get this place movin!" and they'd instinctively start spazzing out like retards
i was laughing the entire time...handed out about 100 flyers though...so we can all laugh at them together if they come next week
coffin birth is on first because end it all can't play first since their singer will be in western MA until like 5 or something and AOTS is driving from maine so i very well can't have them play first
the sac is gonna bring the most people so that's why i stuck us in the middle, and it'd be pointless to have GR or cannae play first(i hate to do it to CB but it just worked out that way)
Yea its for the better really, i know we arent gonna bring a shit load of people to this any way cause no one really listens to us yet. Plus Nick and mike cant stay long after any way. Power glove has a show later that night which Nick has to do, and Mike has to go to his Girlfrinds Birthday party or some shit.

Pam confessed in my car last night that Cannae does indeed suck.
I think I said they weren't GREAT, but I liked em. The newer stuff they've done over the last year is better than their older stuff by leaps and bounds. Probably because they've replaced like everyone in the band.
I don't really see the "core", but I know better than to argue with anyone on here over genre.
it's mainly the drive. with gas so expensive, my truck getting shitty mileage, and my weekly commute from new bedford to burlington for band practice, going to worcester is highly impractical.

we apologize for the fault in the subtitles. those responsible have been SACed. hahahaha. you all should prepare to be sac-ed. hahaha or you can be taught sac-ed.

OK so I took apart both of them and the woofer is blown on one. $150 for a new woofer. Problem is finding one TODAY. Not something most places carry in stock.
And I thought missing a cable here or there was gonna be my only issue.
where you the ones who said you where bringing a few extra drum mics? like 2 tom mics and a kick mic since I only have enough for a 5 piece set.

yea im pretty sure that was them that said they were bringing extra mics. We are going on 1st and i think our drummer is only gonna be using a 5 piece set if he has to.But i think he would rather have both his bass drums, so hopefully goreality can get there in time for that.
coffin birth: appropriate shirts. Anthony with a dragonlord shirt and the sometimes lead guitarist, mike, with a jackson shirt. I guess it's mike last show. The drummer was a fill in from blessed deception. Nash had another show to play so he ran right out. they were a a serious kick ass band who opened this show.
absence of the sun: something happened to one of the guitar players heads so anthony (coffin birth) ran in with his and bang. They looked very lost on stage. I think it was cause they couldn't hear each other. This meant they skipped some songs and played a short set. Also, you couldn't hear the lead guitar player. His rigg was very quiet compared to the other guy's cab and anthony's head.
end it all: they took a loooong time to get set up. They finally went on even though josh_hates_you didn't have the keyboards working yet. They play 2 songs with the keyboardist just going through the motions. They were about to play their last song and just as it started... The power went out. They finally figured out what it was and end it all finished their set.
Sacreligion: they jumped up on the stage really quickly and got to playin'. which was good cause time is getting limited. Most of the people in the audience who weren't in bands were there to see sac. I kept feeling a heard of elephants behind me which were a bunch of their friends trying out their new moves. I had described them as type-oish sounding to dwyer and then they played almost al fast songs. Their last song was, imho, more slowed down deathmetal like typeo with different vocals.
goreality: damn, I could hear the guitars. I would have said something, but I didn't know if it was just me. Towards the end, I could hear them more. Other than that, it was a sick set. Their drummer is very precise and some of the thing he plays reminded a little of beyond the flesh (a lot of use of the high sounding bells). they are going to be an odd mix with clitorture on that split, but if their production matches the clitorture production, it will rule.

did anything go right just then?
i still had fun...i hope everyone shares the same sentiment
there were supposed to be cds made of this show too...but we didn't have everything we needed to mic everyone up properly so it didn't work out as such
that dude who owned the place was soooooooooooooooooo pissed...hahahaha
Coffin Birth - I like this band. Their fill in drummer was ok but not as good as the other kid.
AOTS - I don't remember what happened. Thier singer was really inconsistant. One secong he is clipping the speakers the next you can't even hear him. I went to use a compressor on him when the comp channel dropped out on me. Whatever.
End it All - Did they really take that long to set up? It was toward the end of their setup before I even saw or was told of the keyboard player. His bottom keyboard was working his top wasn't at first. Then it worked. The keyboard player was really cool about it. Then the power died. All the guitar amps and power amps and mixing board and every thing where tied into a series of extension cords all leading to ONE outlet.
Sacreligion - Everyone left after them. Having resolved the keyboard issue their set went pretty smooth.
Goreality - Yeah the guitars where a little low. The singer was pretty brutal. The set was really good.
Godless Rising - I thought their set sounded the best out of any band in the night. I was not sure if they where gonna have a bass player but they did and he was good, I think I recognize him from some other band.
Cannae - Played only 2 songs that I recognized. The newer songs are way more metal and less core. I don't know if they actually finished there set. I doubt it since they where out of time and the show ran long.
Did everyone like N.W.A. before Goreality? I'll probably be doing sound at some more shows but hopefully way more prepared. I spent as much if not more time looking for shit that I needed (spare cables, power outlets, extension cords etc.) than I did actually setting up. Lesson learned. Hell I could go on for an hour about what went wrong tonight but I would not know where to begin.
yeah, I bought a 40 days rain and TYOOL 7" from cannea for $3!
Godless Rising: jebus hated them. even though they were the first band that had the proper cabs to fill this place... Jesus broke their guitar head so fishcakes gave them one to use. Finally, they got stage right up and running and were able to start. I don't remember if I saw jeff sing for vital or not, but if I did, it was a looong time ago. their music was very sick and I can see how people compare it to metal from 88. There is definitely a sound that makes their music fit right in with old school deicide. With that said, there is also a black metal influence to them (especially in the vox) that reminds me of some of my favorite vital remains songs. It was hard to hear some of the riffs, but the music sounded good. I definitely want to hear recorded tracks. if these guys toured in montreal, they would be huge.
cannae: alex's guitar kept breaking so the band would play and he would play for a second and then jump of the stage changing guitars, cables, and I don't know what. Talk about the rage of jesus. I originally thought that his head fell off because I didn't see it (it's in a rack). Showing that they are true professionals, they played to the 20 people in the room like it were a packed show at the palladium. My pictures may make it look bad, but still I was a fun set (lacking things of troubleshooting). Yeah josh, their new stuff is wicked metal.
Note to the network: you need to make a back to NH show at the DBH with cannae, you guys, and SATSF ahahahah.

I had a great time.
I thought the sound was damned from the start, church-like acoustics are really an unfair challenge for a soundguy. God was definately angry. Power outages, fucked up gear, lack of a bar...

We only had like 3 weeks to show him the songs and rehearse with him. Hes a good drummer, his other band the Blessed deception is fuckin chaotic death metal, not quite like us. Hes not used to playin all the blast beats that go with our songs but pulled it off pretty good, he also called me at like 1:00 this morning to tell me that he didnt like the Putrefy cd the dwyer sold him
It should be pointed out that any comments about Cannae I made were solely to give Pam a hard time, becausr that is one of the greatest joys of my life. I'm glad the show went well, the more places that let real bands play, the better.
haha their policies are gonna change after last night
the dude said he wants shows to end earlier and more pepole outside making sure that people don't piss on other people's property when there's a perfectly good bathroom inside

I figure the people were doing the guy a favor by saving on the water bill. What an ungrateful dick.
this was a good time. it seemed doom from the beginning, but despite the problems it pulled through ok. a big thanks to Josh for doing the sound for us, he had little to work with and did a whole lot with it, thanks to Aaron for choosing this show to photograph. the bands were great, the attitude was relaxed the whole night despite the many many issues. Goreality fucking rules.

How many of you got lost? FUCK Worcester.
I got there an hour late. Mapquest gave shitty directions and didn't explain where the fuck Greenwood St. was well enough. And then I passed the place twice trying to figure out where the fuck to park. And somehow when I got in it was still on time, despite getting there at 6:00 instead of the 5:00 "starting time."

Powerglove was not only nice enough to book a show a week in advance that same night but was also kind enough to leave nick with the responsibility of bringing the Pa to that show which they left in his car the previous night. Further prooving why it was a mistake having them on the somerville show with us and Godless rising, Zircon etc. They still played good though like always just wasnt a good mix of bands.
