I like Nile alot and all, but... how can they ask Kreator to OPEN for them? That'd be like Maiden opening for Dio on this last tour. That's terrible.

They're really not opening for them, they're just not headlining over them. Mostly a business thing I'm sure, Nile seems to be flavor of the month for death metal lately I guess; not my opinion, I've liked them since Catacombs and I still think that's their best album to date. But knowing all the little kiddies will stay for Nile, naturally they'll be last, and if I were in Kreator I think I'd want to play second to last too. It's not like they're going to be a dissapointment and end up having people chant "Nile" through their whole set or anything.
Either way, this tour is going to tear unholy rectum.

trust me, Kreator have what it takes to headline any show, but its all politics, and business, unfortunately

Not as much as it bothered me when Slayer opened for Letters from the Dead.

I don't know...
I saw kreator once...

cephalic carnage, csdo, december, destruction, distrust, gorehammer, kreator, and red shift horizon
http://www.returntothepit.com/concert.php?date=2002-09-14
there were probably at most 100 people there throughout the night.
kreator was really fucking good, but old school, non-huge metal doesn't seem to draw.

toggletoggle post by RustedAngel at Sep 22,2003 8:33am
and it wouldn't suprise me if most of the people there wanted to see cephalic carnage.

I agree. That's why I'm bringing extra earplugs and maxis. Brutal fucking show.

it's Nile's tour, that is why they are headlining.

It bothers me that Nile, and Kreator are still making music. Nile's Festival Of Atonement demo was their only material of worth, and Kreator is just a joke now. Any band that releases something like Renewal should be shot dead. Violent Revolution turned out to be a peaceful demonstration. I might go to that Nile show if a real quality German thrash act opened like Sodom.

NILE is sick man, I hope they continue as long as possible playing their brand of death metal. Not many acts compare to nile.

STE has come out with a demo right? well should you stop playing after your first demo too? you don't want too im sure.

If I was Nile I would have though. When STE starts ripping off Candlemass riffs (see Unas: slayer of the gods), then we'll see what happens.

P.S. If you want a band that will make Nile look like Sunday school, check out Necrophagist. They leave Nile in the dust winds of NePhRenAKKAHnhHAMeChIa, or whatever...

if you think nile ripped of candlemass, then who did candlemass rip off?

everyone rips off everyone in some way or another (usually called influences), or people think so just because a riff sounds similar. there are only so many chords/notes on the fretboard my friend.

can you play niles guitar riffs? i didn't think so

Candlemass didn't rip anyone off, but it's obvious they were influenced by Sabbath, and the like. It is one thing to be influenced by someone else, it's another thing when you steal riffs. I mean c'mon...it is a blatant rip off, in fact I wouldn't be surprised if Nile admits to it either. Just listen to The Well of Souls, and then Unas. I just happen to think Nile is overrated Recrapse records garbage. There are plenty of bands that destroy them completely. But if you're a fan, by all means keep listening to them, cause I won't.

::ahem:: Can I play Nile's riffs? I'm a drummer, and I do vocals, so no. Can Nile play Candlemass riffs? I guess so! I wouldn't make Nile out to be the most technically proficient band dude, you need to check out bands like Theory In Practice, Symbyosis, Necrophagist, and then tell me if Nile can even play their riffs.

toggletoggle post by RustedAngel at Sep 22,2003 1:50pm
why am I arguing about nile stealing riffs, big deal, you can think of one riff out of like 5 albums worth of material.

can you drum like nile?

I wasn't saying nile is the most tech. metal band ever, though they are more technical than most any other death metal band. they are rediculously tight, especially live. i don't know how any metalhead coulndn't have any respect for nile.

Pffft, Their material is a total snooze fest. When a Nile cd has stopped playing, it's like salvation to me. I don't contest that Nile has talent, I just don't like their songs, if you do, hey that's cool, I just don't. Can I drum like Nile? Just give me a tighter snare drum, because his fucking sucks. Just do yourself a favor, and check out those bands I listed. Not to prove that they're all better than Nile( which they are), but just so you know there is plenty of quality technical (death) metal out there, aside from what recrapse tries to offer. Gonna be at that show tonight? I'll be glad to continue the discussion there. Toodles.

i guess its your opinion that you think the bands you listed are better. I can list bands I think are better than nile also.

who knew a tighter snare drum would make you play drums better than nile? hahaha

purely opinion.

i will add Theory In Practice is amazing... but i take no sides on the nile debate, they are good for what they do i suppose. energetic show

I saw Kreator last Sept and they can still put on a good show. Obviously Endorama, and Renewel are total junk but they don't play that stuff at all. Destruction blew them away at the show, but hey. I will still go to that show for Kreator, and Vader.

I don't like Nile too much either. The first album has some good songs. I fell asleep when they played with SYL, Napalm Death. I'd much rather see a band they are influenced (ripped off) by like Incantation.

Necrophagist is the best band mentioned. But Vital Remains is superior to any death metal band ever.

toggletoggle post by RustedAngel at Sep 23,2003 9:28am
vital remains does own on record... but I hear their live show sucks.

hey tom, guess who's coming down to CT next weekend? I've been working out so I'll be able to credit card your asshole into oblivion.

Vital Remains was great until "Dawn Of The Apocalypse". I really don't like that boring album. I haven't heard "Dechristianize", but I hear it's a lot better. They need Jeff Gruslin back on vocals. He has some of the best vocals ever. I was pissed when I missed their last show with him. Not even Joe compared to him on "Forever Underground". I saw the "Forever Underground" lineup with Angel Corpse and that was the only good time I ever saw Vital Remains. I've seen them like five times after that and it always sucked.
