haha Yanks got Abreu. Anybody else see this as a totally typical Yankees move? Overpriced slumping ballplayer past his prime? Yankees are done.

I gave up on this game in the 6th or so. I should have learned from the 10 other times he's done this. I listen to the game on Sat. at my job, and 2 Saturdays in a row he's hit the game winner.

I do that too. I just lucked out last night. I was hammered and about to pass out and heard he was coming to the plate. I woke up a bit. Then he did what he always does! I was wide awake at that point and made another drink.

I know, and I am awake and well, drunk. So not for long on the awake part. I mainly bring it up because he broke the record for most walk-offs among active players.

yup yup

i think nixon going down was probably the greatest thing ever. having ortiz/rameriz/pena/lowell is a pretty solid 3 - 6 as far as power goes.

i like our chances in the playoffs even with the shakey pitching.

I am surprised they did not go after Maddox but hey, I guess they know what they are doing.

toggletoggle post by H-Mop at Aug 1,2006 2:58pm
I was listening to the radio earlier and they said that Ortiz has the same amount of walk off hits in the last 3 years with the Sox that Carl Yastrzemski had in 23 years. Yaz is one of the best hitters in the history of the game so that's just crazy.

True, so true, but they do kinda suck now.

All those rings must be weighing A Rod down. Must be why his fielding is in the shitter. The glare from all those rings must be why the Yankee "fans" are booing a perrenial MVP candidate.

Yup, a lot of focus on some old rings.

with our middle relief, we will get devoured in the playoffs. something's gotta be done. and there's no wildcard in the east this year, so we better get our shit together before NY does, or there'll be no playoffs. and you can bet yer ass the yankees'll be making noise real soon. they always do.

I can't believe they got him all for giving up 3 A ballers and one AAA fucker.
Yeah whatever, the whole numbers don't lie shit is over played. If things stay with Ortiz and Rameriz here for a few more years, I think everyone will realize that they're the greatest 3 4 in baseball history, better than Gehrig/Ruth.

shakey pitching...
not nearly as shakey as last year, one word, PAPELBON!

Sorry man but he's still pretty young. Joining a decent team ought to help his confidence a bit more too. He's a power hitter and I think he'll be very dangerous in a Yankee uniform.

toggletoggle post by Dankill at Aug 1,2006 11:57pm
The guys they gave up were all top prospects. One of them was last years number one pick. They are killing their farm system. The So at least are thinking beyond this year, which is a hell of a lot better then they did in the past (i.e. Dan Fucking Ducete or however you spell that assholes name)

toggletoggle post by BornSoVile   at Aug 2,2006 12:58am
I dunno Dan, Duquette made some decent moves that helped the Sox out for quite sometime,
92 - Valentine
93 - Nixon
94 - Nomar
95 - Wakefield, Tom Gordon
96 - Saberhagen
97 - Pedro, Varitek, Lowe
98 - Daubach

Bad moves by Duquette,
Donnie Sadler, Reggie Jefferson, Jose Offerman, Rheal Cormier, Pat Rapp, Mo Vaughn, Roger Clemens
