Report: VAN HALEN Featuring DAVID LEE ROTH To Embark On 40-Date Summer Tour - Jan. 24, 2007

Ray Waddell of Billboard.com reports that a contract could be signed as soon as today for Live Nation to produce a 40-date amphitheatre tour by VAN HALEN this summer, with original frontman David Lee Roth back in the fold for the first time in more than 20 years.

As previously reported, guitarist Eddie Van Halen's 15-year-old son Wolfgang has stepped in for original bassist Michael Anthony in the new incarnation of the group, which also features drummer Alex Van Halen.

VAN HALEN last toured in 2004 with vocalist Sammy Hagar, grossing nearly $40 million, according to Billboard Boxscore. Hagar refused to collaborate further withEddie and Alex Van Halen after the tour's completion ("I don't get along with Eddie anymore, and that's all there is to it," he told Billboard.com in August 2005), although he has consistently played live with Anthony in recent years.

Word on the street is Wolfgang has become a great bassist. I cant help having Eddie for a dad/teacher. I saw him on the Van Hagar tour playin guitar and sounded pretty good. Hopefully stupid drama doesnt kill the tour before it gets here. I'll probably have to rob a liqour store to afford the tickets.

I'd go if tickets wern't going to be outlandishly expensive.

you just gotta wait till 5 minutes before the show and buy em off a scalper. I paid $50 for a pair of really good seats to Van Hagar.

So appently the only members of Van Halen appearing at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction will be Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony. thats so fuckin lame.

Oh this is great. I hope it isn't TOO expensive. But I will pay whatever. This was the first band to get me into heavy music.. when I was four David Lee Roth was the ultimate badass in my view. hahaha I have to see VH with DLR

i'm fairly certain that DLR has had sooo much plastic surgery that he can't get this smile off of his face...when i see him on video as of late it looks like he has to try to keep a straight face because his muscles are stuck like this:
