thanks to carina fixinf my head, I made it here. this space is awesome. brightly lit and there is a huge open stairwell in the middle so you can shoot the band from basically on top of them.
the Championship: I don't think I've ever heard them before. They were all instrumental. In this open room, it sounded a little bit thin. I think they could have turned it up a lot.
binding, the: mike (heuristic) was singing for them. The first few songs were a bit rough. I don't think they've played any other shows together. Eventually, they got into a grove and started to play better. it was the song after mike did his heuristic trying to do page 99 vocals. This band was defunct until not too long ago. at the end of their set, they tried to pull the crowd in, but people were mostly planted in place.
despotic robot: jonah is drummer for them (in between his duties drumming for every other band). It must be nice working at supercuts when they go in to get a group hair cut since they all have the same cut. They sounded a lot different from what I remember. Some of the vocals had to be a joke (breeeee breeeee vocals). A lot of their songs sounded like municipal waste. more punk-thrash then metal-thrash. These fast, thrashy tracks would go over really well at a basement show, but getting the people here to do anything seems next to impossible. They even told peeps to circle around the giant "circular" stairwell in the center. Nothing. Finally, during their last song, people started running back and forth.
the whole time this show is going on, there are people doing "arty" things all over the place. there are people silk screening behind some windows, pencil drawing the bands, working on fabric, and I'm sure other things I can't see. definitly interesting. currently, I'm sitting 2+ stories over architect setting up. weird to look down on the bands. I feel like I'm up in the lighting at the palladium.
there is also a giant picture of a dude getting head from a trash bag behind the drummer. I think the dude is zander from comedy centrals' drawn together.
the guys from UT showed up late so they are going on after the_network.
architect: ok, during the track "trader" where the hell were the bass drops coming from? maybe someone clicked off the sampler. I'm not sure how. Maybe from the actual bass? Even in this setting, it was still insanely loud. I don't think people were ready for that when they started. It looked like a few people were wincing and moving away in pain as the set started. Architect posters should carry warnings. Keith gave a speech before they played the above mentioned track, trader. He made fun of trivium and a few other bands and then gave thumbs up or down on the shirts people were wearing based on whether the bands had something to say or not (revocation got an "awesome" and porphyria passed. Not sure who the bands were that failed). The drummer wore a black wig. The rumor is that he is running for hillary clinton's spot in the senate when she wins the presidency and he can't let people know who he is. If one voter knows he's in the architect and has and anti-pro choice position when it comes to Hot Topics stores being placed in ever anerican mall, his entire support base will crumble! This was the last show of their tour. They came here even though nascar (aka the most boring think to watch ever) is on today. their last song was intense as ever and had them all screaming at the crowd.
And I'm sure you were thinking that rev. Look at those ants playing their ant music. I sit here atop my throne and pictorally document their ant celebration. Ants.
scott said that he couldnt afford to go out. he had to sell his bass stuff, and im sure that after he smashed his bass in nashua im sure he was shit outta luck.
network, the: I had totally forgotten that shane (cannae) was the nate johson of the band now.(filling in on this tour). He did his job well, screaming and then ramming his bass into the crowd. They sounded really good until the vocals and kevin's chord crapped out. Sort of a down note of end their tour on. As Scott and a pile of people tried to get the mics to work, the rest of the guys started packing their stuff up. Adam (cannae) also showed up and did vocals for their first song. too bad he didn't show up to the CD release show. You could have had all the guests vocalizing their contributions. Still, when scott walked back from the mixer expecting to play on, the rest of the band was gone.
Reverend Grundarr and the Unholy Trinity: blue's vocals sounded pitch shifted ... Hm.. And ther is a pedal between the chord for his mic and the sound board.. Hm... As they were playing "the juice is lose" I was taking pictures of the odwalla banner over them. People were circle pitting for them.
Alex, I don't know what happened to the old guy. But I just checked their myspace blogs and found this.

The Robot brings news
What's up, it's Special K here, letting everyone know that the recent absence of Despotic Robot will be coming to an end very soon. We're in the process of getting our new bugger, Jonah, aquainted with our songs, as well as a slew of new ones just waiting to be unleashed. He's gettin' good !!!!!!!!! And it sounds fucking killer. Our first show with the new lineup will be January 13th at Kastle Grey Skull (formerly Barker and Joe B's) in Allston, MA, one year from the manufacturing of the Robot.
So, I guess Jonah's been working with them for a few months at least.

Hey, Jeremy moved down to South Carolina and now plays in this tech/death band Lecherous Nocturne. Peep them.
no shit sherlock. my vocals suck, it sounds way better pitch shifted.
you didn't have to curse at me....I'm sad now.

not that anything Despotic Robot does is very serious, but I dont think those vocals are a "joke" exactly. Pete is a really diverse vocalist who likes to do alot of different shit. I think his vocals are awesome.
p.s. Rev., the dude responsible for the giant drawing of the guy getting head from a trash bag just won some big cash-money award for that shit.
ugh.

I've been drumming for the dudes for a few months. I can't blast as fast as the old drummer, but he used triggers so.. you know.. of course he's fast, haha.
Anyway, I'd like to think I bring something new to the table with my slower shittier drumming.
