To all the bands that wanted to be submitted for this years metal and hardcore fest.

I am very sorry that I didn't give you all an opportunity to submit yourselves for this year's New England Metal and Hardcore Festival. With the festival being only 2 days this year, and one of the 2 days being Metal Blade's 25th anniversary showcase, it made it impossible to choose any local, regional or unsigned bands for this years line-up. To help make things a little easier, any band interested in submitting for next year's NEMHF, please drop me a line on my myspace page http://www.myspace.com/379531 Include your band's myspace URL and we will go from there.

for a second there i thought you were talking about mark's show place, but then again most of them aren't grindcore bands

Scott lee has done more for hardcore in Western Mass. than all you bitter kids combined. This is a man who has dedicated himself to the scene for the last 15 years. If you think you can do more for the scene step up and do it. Until then keep ypur mouth shut and don't badmouth someone who works hard to help bands and the scene.

Not that it wouldn't be nice to see some good locals on the fest *cough* Porphyria - it would be even better if some good metal bands were on it and not a bunch of youth crew hardcore bands. There should be more shit like Devourment, Lust of Decay, Guttural Secrete, etc...

the NEHMF line-ups frustrait me sometimes too, but I both like and respect one Mr Scott Lee. Like I said in the other thread, Scott tried to do something different last year and people didn't care/attend. what would you expect the next year to be like?

ya I must say he has to make money, so I can't bitch at him for that. And he knows what bands to play to make money to pay off whatever bills he has. I don't know why we all bitch about metal not getting into big venues, I personally like seeing only a handful of really good metal bands, in a bar, with nothing but other metalheads around.

i live in Western Ma so i know what Scott Lee has done for the area. There's NOTHING out here to do so the fact that he's done what he's done here is impressive...well, to me anyways. I respect the guy, he gets shit done.

I dig 100 deamons and I'd gladly book them on my festival I am putting on later this year. Will it happen? Probably not. If you like them or not, there is no need to show disrespect. Same thing with Scott. Has he disrespected you in any way? Probably not so why be such a dick? Sounds like you are more pissed he is doing things for other people and NOT you.

i just wish these fests didn't have that "hmm...what tours are coming somewhat nearby the area that weekend so i can cram them into one giant show with some other bands nobody's ever heard of" vibe

Why did he ask everyone to tell him what bands they wanted to see at the metalfest if he wasn't going to pay attention? There are so many posts on his myspace group about how emo and metalcore suck and how there should be more metal bands. Then he goes and books a bunch of shitty bands again. WTF?

Someone should make a better metal fest. Metal only! No stupid bullshit fuckwad bands! It should be huge enough to say FUCK YOU to the NEMHF!

For sure, nobody cared about Gamma Ray (wah, wah), but the turnout/response for Dragonforce was as intense as I've ever seen a NEHMF crowd. I gotta believe they made tons of bank off those guys, so I'm curious about what didn't work out last year?

Overall, I don't know why anyone gets upset about this, it seems like it's been obvious for years that this fest isn't interested in catering to diehard metalheads. You may as well bitch about the Warped tour not having your favorite band.

more people came for COB when they last toured than that day for wolf/df/gammaray.

It's funny that you say that, when I was writing that last post I was thinking "if they want a big cheesy metal band that'll get the kids in, COB would be perfect"

I really thought DF pulled in a pretty crazy crowd that night though...I guess maybe I'm kind of out of the loop when it comes to these bigger shows

yeah Josh let's keep on each other about this.

I'm working on making a setup for my Nighthawk, so I am exploring Overdrive pedals. This guitar has really hot pickups with a sweet tone, so I am trying to make that work for me. I bought a Distortion+ (MXR) and I am in the process of moding it, but I'm not that big on the tone it has with my gear.

we played 1 show for scott a few years back. he told me we were to loud and never booked us again. i would like to thank him for doing his best to contain all the shitty "core" bands to western mass though...keep that shit outta here......

I do believe I write plenty of intelligent things lyrically and otherwise, but having spent a lot of my life in an institutional setting and hustling on the streets, people disrespecting me is something I just don't tolerate. It is a byproduct of the life I've led. I treat everybody with respect until they disrespect me my friends or my family.I don't have much in this world so I don't let people shit on what little I do have, mainly my band and the way I choose to live my life,which is a whole lot better than it used to be. I worked hard for what I have and I'm not going to let anyone take that from me.
