I'm about to go see this now, I really hope they don't completely fuck up Venom.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at May 4,2007 9:53pm
1) there is a movies flag
2) as was leaked since the dawn of time, venom is in the last couple minutes and that is all.

toggletoggle post by xanonymousx at May 4,2007 9:57pm
the line for this at lowes was to the entrance.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at May 4,2007 10:01pm
carina and I are going to try to go first thing in the morning.

just got back from seeing it, simple words for comic geeks

DEATH OF A FRANCHISE!

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at May 4,2007 10:24pm
seriously? this is the last.

toggletoggle post by Chris_From_Shit_Fuck  at May 4,2007 10:25pm
it damn well better be, me and my friend literally booed the ending. If you're a geek it's worth seeing, but trust me most people will be as dissapointed as I was.

This is the first Spiderman movie I've seen, and I was not impressed. People got up and left the theater before it ended.

toggletoggle post by boine at May 4,2007 11:33pm
i just dont understand why they put Gwen Stacy in the movie, when she should have been in the first

toggletoggle post by fleshfries at May 4,2007 11:46pm
i personally thought it was pretty badass

toggletoggle post by sacreligion at May 5,2007 1:14am
I'll give it a B-

the story was very forced and unnatural, but the effects and fight scenes were top notch. some good jokes throughout as well(peter as the cocky emo kid nobody likes, bruce cambell's cameo)

done well, but not enough effort, which makes for a good popcorn movie

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at May 5,2007 9:17am
sitting at the theatre now. it's empty here.

toggletoggle post by ConquerTheBaphomet  at May 5,2007 9:45am
I'm going to see it tonight; is it really that bad?

toggletoggle post by pam   at May 5,2007 10:28am
I don't care about Spiderman.

There, I said it.

toggletoggle post by Ryan_Noseworthy   at May 5,2007 11:02am
I've been reading Spider-Man comics since I was 5 years old, and I saw this movie last night, they went quite a bit off the real plot, but I enjoyed it as a movie, some of the fight scenes were incredible...

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at May 5,2007 11:47am
just finished. they definitely went off the mags and there was TONS of cheese, but that's how comics are. they also crammed way too much into this one movie. I mean the black symbiot was with spidey for years in the comics, but the movie was like 15 minutes.

how did sandman get is powers in the comics? I forget that.

I really liked it..

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at May 5,2007 12:11pm
how, not when.

toggletoggle post by DomesticTerror at May 5,2007 12:12pm
They better do Hobgoblin/Kingpin before this franchise completely tanks. All I can say about this movie (haven't seen it yet) is that my issue #300 better go through the roof.

toggletoggle post by DomesticTerror at May 5,2007 12:18pm
sorry, i was doing my best Stan Lee impression. While escaping prison, sandman hid in what turned out to be a military nuke test site on a beach. Bomb goes off, radiation...you know, the usual origin.

hmmm i read it was just getting the script just got started but i hope they do use carnage even though that means sam would be out as the director

toggletoggle post by Nash/nli at May 5,2007 1:46pm
I agree that they tried and fit a bit too much plot into 2 and a half hours, but it was entertaining. That dancing scene was a fucking joke though, it sempt like Spiderman was taken over by The Mask more than the symbiote. Some dude next to me in the theater even said at that point, "Is it just me, or did this movie get really stupid?"

toggletoggle post by boine at May 5,2007 2:11pm
well the whole venom/eddie thing was forced to be added in by the produced sam didnt write that into his script

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at May 5,2007 2:12pm
Also, I thought that the sandman could only grow 2x his size...

toggletoggle post by Arist  at May 6,2007 11:41am
So X-men ended up being the better trilogy

toggletoggle post by Dankill at May 6,2007 3:18pm
Nah, I thought the X-men series ended on a MUCH more forced and overboard third movie.
I thought overall, Spider Man 3 was a good movie, but had it's flaws.

First off, Mary Jane, granted she was having her troubles on Broadway, was coming off too much like a whining bitch. Seriously, what the fuck else was Peter supposed to do to comfort her?!

The dancing scene was like a traincrash. I could not look away, yet couldn't believe what I was seeing. It was funny, but cringeworthy at the same time. I liked where they were going with Peter being influenced by the symbiote, but they took the cheese-meter and turned it to 11. Cut the dancing and just have Peter acting more aggresive and kickin it to the ladies and it would have been perfect. That and the end of the bar scene with MJ and the bouncers.

I wish they had more of Venom. Period. They did a great job with him.
Granted, the Sandman fight was great, they could have put more time and effort into a better one on one fight between Spider Man and Venom.

The humor worked when it was simple, not forced. Bruce Campbell was great and used his humor well during that whole scene.

I felt weird about the ending. I didn't go for boos like Chris, but I was hoping for more. In particular seeing as (all I'll say) it didn't end on Spidey swingin around the city for that nice end of the movie eye candy.

Overall, I liked it, but I'd hope in the fourth movie, they learn from this and do better.

That being said, I'm hopeful about a forth movie. The part that stuck out to me was that little peice of the symbiote the professor still had as a way to bring Carnage out. That and I hoped we'd still see Venom in part four. (Again, not saying anything). The Lizard has been teased since the first movie because of Professor Conners, so that is long overdue. The Black Cat will be interesting. Will she get powers even though she never had them? Will they push the sexual tension with her and Spidey, seeing as in the comic they were an item for a while? We'll have to wait and see.

I have that issue too and was obsessed with comics in the late eighties and earily nineties. That issue was like $160 a long, long time ago so hopefully it'll blow up.

I also JUST saw this movie and really liked it. When the franchise started, I never thought that they'd incorporate Venom because I didn't think he was a "classic" character in the sense that he's not as old as the other featured villians so was pleased to see him. Topher Grace actually did a good job and Venom kicked ass (he probably would've been a better Spidey than). The only thing I didn't like about the black suit was that Parker had to actually put the thing on rather than it just forming around him like in the comics.

Also, the "bad" Parker could have been a hell of a lot better. Some of that was just stupid. All in all, good flick.

Can't wait to see The Lizard or Carnage. I'm just glad the whole comic book movie thing is still so popular and hasn't gotten too cheesy yet.

toggletoggle post by ConquerTheBaphomet  at May 6,2007 8:36pm
If I don't see Carnage, it's a waste. He's a great villian.

toggletoggle post by Niccolai   at May 6,2007 8:43pm
I hate how people compain about cheesiness in Marvel movies.

that's what marvel has always been about. It's not some shitty hollywood adaptation that's making the movies cheesy, it's how it's supposed to be, and it's what should be expected.

toggletoggle post by boine at May 6,2007 8:56pm
that flag scene was a little too cheesy though

toggletoggle post by atthehaunted  at May 6,2007 9:57pm
Nipple u were talkin about classic villians then u say u can't wait till carnage that doesn't make sense. He def. was not a classic in the sense u were talkin about. Man what about the vulture or another villian like that

i got mine cgc graded, 8.0. 9.8 is like $1500, before the flick debuted. if black cat is in the next one, i'd suggest picking up asm #194 while it's cheap.

toggletoggle post by BlackoutRick at May 7,2007 6:07pm
yeah, not enough Venom. I did enjoy it though.

toggletoggle post by NippleViolater   at May 7,2007 8:29pm
money, money, money...

I also have an Image Comics gold cover, Wildcats #1, signed by Jim Lee. Too bad that shits going nowhere. Is there ever gonna be some Image comic movies?? Too bad Spawn got ruined before Spiderman showed movie studios that comic book movies can make money. A lot of the early Image comics are kinda weird.

toggletoggle post by atthehaunted  at May 8,2007 10:55am
If they mad a wildstar or savage dragon movie I'd see it definitely.

i actually thought that was well done. at first he was the fuckin mack with his attitude and then he let it get the best of him and turned into a total fucking tool. it's a good lesson..."don't be a douche"

Yeah, but he is incredibly one dimensional so it would just be cool, not interesting, and they'd have to make the movie rated R to do justice to him, which they never will. Plus Sam Raimi was reluctant to include Venom in this one, I doubt he will ever use Carnage.

I personally would like to see Sam Raimi quit doing the Spiderman movies so they can include Carnage and he can make a new Evil Dead.

ANYWAY
I saw this last night. I thought they crammed way too much into this and made the whole thing way too fast paced. If they had left out the symbiote and Venom like Raimi wanted to originally, all the unnaturalness of how Peter and MJ's relationship problems are portayed would have probably been fixed. I did think Venom looked great though and Topher Grace was perfect.
This was probably my favorite one so far though, but I don't care enough about any of them to mind that they aren't amazing. Bruce Campbell was my favorite part and Conor Oberst was my least favorite.

They should make an alpha force movie, I'd love to see sasquatch

toggletoggle post by atthehaunted  at May 8,2007 1:01pm
Spider man def should've fought the sinister 6 in spider man three.

toggletoggle post by thegreatspaldino   at May 8,2007 1:36pm
i want a Super Patriot movie... hows THAT for and OLD Image comic reference? ;)

toggletoggle post by atthehaunted  at May 8,2007 1:46pm
Yes good call I still want Savage Dragon though. Or we could do PITT or Cyberforce would be bad ass. Even Wildcats and Deathblow would be fuckin bad ass. Man it makes me want to go and read my old comic books.

toggletoggle post by Kevord  at May 8,2007 11:14pm
I'd rather see valiant comics movies. A Magnus Robot Fighter movie would be incredible if done right.

I did and yes it was.

In addition to my earlier review, I remember no shots of Kirsten Dunst's erect nipples. I kind of thought that would be a recurring thing, guess I was wrong.

Am I the only one that laughed a little too hard when Peter bitched slapped Mary Jane?

My favorite Valiant was Ninjak. He was bad ass.

The original Ninjak of course
