" COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - An elementary school has banned tag on its playground after some children complained they were harassed or chased against their will.
"It causes a lot of conflict on the playground," said Cindy Fesgen, assistant principal of the Discovery Canyon Campus school.
Running games are still allowed as long as students don't chase each other, she said.
Fesgen said two parents complained to her about the ban but most parents and children didn't object.
In 2005, two elementary schools in the nearby Falcon School District did away with tag and similar games in favor of alternatives with less physical contact. School officials said the move encouraged more students to play games and helped reduce playground squabbles."

I am sick of people telling us how to raise our spuds. I have heard of this and this is gay. Why don't we just wrap all of ourselves up in cacoons and live that way. Faggots. |
|
heh, yet another way to get children of america to get even LESS exercise |

Tag. Pfft - lame. What ever happened to playing doctor under the jungle gym? |
|
Man, bitches really chase dudes who wear that fruity body spray? I thought that only happened in the commercials. |
|
Tag??? We used to play muckle. The results were far more hilarious and usually included an injured child. |
|
Tell 'em to play Columbine instead. |
|
what happened to smear the queer? |
|
i thought this had to do with the body spray. |
|
are they daft?
back when i was in 2nd grade we played a game called Freddy Krueger, and the bully kid was Freddy, we would have to jump across a trench or something and he would have to attack us from inside. a bunch of kids got hurt and they had to tell us not to play Freddy Krueger anymore. they recommended tag because no one got hurt. those kids are doomed. |

I liked playing pickle. Getting hit with a tennis ball builds character. Dodging it builds even more character. |
|
Kill the man with the ball ruled.
Pickle, 4 Square, Dodgeball also ruled.
What the hell was Muckle?
And just to be sure, was Pickle when you have teams throwing a tennis ball against a wall and somehow, losers would have to face the wall and get the tennis ball thrown at them from behind? |

We call that suicide where I came from, only you had one tennis ball you threw it people caught it, if you dropped it you had to run to the wall and touch it before the ball was thrown at the wall. if you lost you did " butts up" you had to stand facing the wall as everyone got one chance to throw the ball at you.
where I am now we call it "off the wall" |
|
I played some variation of "off the wall" where you had to catch the ball, if it hit you and you dropped it or something you had to run to the wall. If someone hit you with the ball before you touched the wall, you were out.
"Pickle" as I knew it was two people standing in the center of a court while people were split on both sides. There were no teams, people just ran back and forth between sides as many times as they could while the two people throwing the ball tried to hit them. Where I usually played this, one direction people could throw the ball at went into thick woods, if someone missed you and it went in there, that would make for an interesting situation... |

Exactly.

Sorry 'bout that, it was called "Butts Up" at my school. Thanks for the memory jog!
Never played Pickle then, but that sounds like it would have been a blast back in my elementary days.
They just don't know how to let kids amuse THEMSELVES anymore! |
|
They'll figure it all out in middle school when they start touching themselves. |
