Yo, what you be reading?

I just picked up

collected works of Karl Marx
Fahrenheit 451
1984
animal farm

I've read the two Orwell ones in highschool, currently reading Fahrenheit 451 along with my British Literature class work

odd that all four of the books have a theme

You seem like an impressionable young man, so I would stay away from Ayn Rand if I were you and pick up some Henry Miller instead.

i stopped reading and tried my hand at writing, but its not working so well. i think i might start reading.

I haven't read any Marx, but I have read the other three. Currently, I just read books that are relatively easy on the brain. When you have entered the misery of the work force for several years, you will understand.

Elric of Melnibone by Michael Moorcock, the 1981 Traveller RPG rulebook, and a Nicholas Sparks book that my girlfriend put in my reading pile. (This being the tradeoff for her to check out all my sci-fi crap.)

would four years count as several? I hate my line of work and as lame as it sounds would love if I could find a job at a library or some easy clerical work where I could fuck off and study half the time.

I haven't been reading too much lately cause it's been putting me straight to sleep, but next on my list is The Picture of Dorian Gray.

The Secret Life of Plants is a very cool book. I don't know how completely I buy into all of the book's assertions, but it is definitely a recommended read.

Library jobs are the shit dude. Easiest job ever if you're just stationed at a checkout desk in a relatively non-busy place.

Oscar wilde? my friend at school's been telling me that guy is a genius, and this kid's pretty reliable on "cool" things, ie things I would like.

Speaking as somebody who delved deep into both of these authors in his tender teens, I think this is some of the best advice I've ever heard

You(like me) are well on your way to early death. If you can make the change to a better job, good for you. I'd like to make a change, but I stay for the money, which isn't bad after 11 years here.

Yes sir, I'm looking forward to it. I'm on a "classics" kick and I've always wanted to read it.

A Guy's Guide to Surviving Pregnancy, Childbirth and the First Year of Fatherhood by Michael Crider

Aw, you're so adorable. I got Jon to read a couple pages of Jenny McCarthy's "Belly Laughs" book, but other than that he's not reading daddy books.

Man would I like to read Fahrenheit 451 again, maybe it was because it was discussed in a class of mine when we were reading it but that book really stuck out to me.

it's written by a writer whose main focus was poetry,

I noticed authors I love tend to have been poets, or called themselves poets rather than writers, Poe, Lovecraft.... it helps their writing style and subject alot.

The worst part is, if we had an earthquake...that really would fall out everywhere. Although most of the swords are mine...
