New site? Maybe some day.
Ok, this is just here to make it easier for all discussion after the Malignancy show at the Bombshelter.
FUCKING A. |
in under 24 hours, I will be saying "I'm home working on pictures" and "pictures are up. |
in under 24 hours, I will be home, jerking off, saying, damn rev you are sexy. Oh, and telling people that we sucked, and that everyone should have been outside in the freezing cold anyway.
In under 24 hours i will be COMPLETELY DEAF!! |
I will be having sex with a cactus! |
That has nothing to do with any 24 hour time frame. I'll probably do it in 15 minutes. I can't sleep. |
i will attempt to get my pics up as fast as possible! ATTEMPT to get them up around aaron's time frame
heh |
Paul? Paul?!!?
I can't go buddy |
what's this?!? the show's suppose to get over at 11 and I'm home at 11?
more to come
working on pictures now. |
yeah what he said..
but we'll see about my pics |
what the hell! why did the show stop at 10? I'm confused... not enough people? not enough beer being sold at the bar? I don't get it.
fall of decrepitude: they had one of the best sounds of the night. it was way way too good. this time they had three songs. I have a theory that they are going to add a new song each show. it's not that impressive until the 50th show...
cryptic warning: holy fuck! deicide and slayer came together in a bunch of young kids. it was crazy, that last song was so rediculous it was awesome.
teratism: one of my new favorite bands. They are so good live. the perfect blend of mid-90s napalm death and dying fetus. it's so good.
terminally your aborted ghost: great as always. I'm not sure that spalding prooved fastest fingers on the bass, but he was movie around a lot more than usual. And terence's "yell" voice I finally pin-pointed. it's just the perfect blend of napalm death and agoraphobic nosebleed.
ascendancy: their set was so short. it was great and they hammed it up (as usual), but their set just ended... I'm not sure what was going on there.
anoxia: for such a small guy, the singer's got a growl that doesn't end. they need to play more show. weird to think a local band like this exists and you hardly ever see them on shows.
bane of existence: another short set. I'm happy that they could come back on and played solace in the end.
malignancy: probably one of the best sounding sets I've seen from them. eh, I guess that the met cafe sounded better, but whatever. they got ripped off with their set. it was so short it was stupid. They complained about it a little bit... but not as much as I would after driving from NY. And I didn't know the drummer was in shadows fall. (that's a joke, he looks like one of the guys in SF) |
"solace in the armes of the dead"
yeah, that's my favorite BOE song. |
Had an awesome time today. Only bad thing was the piss poor turn out. Every band was sick, but malignancy totally slayed. Sucks though because they only got to play a short set. Definatly had a good time. chilling with the dudes from malignancy was amazing. Thanks to terence for putting this brutal as hell show on. Hopefully next time there will be a better turn out. |
"one of the, if not, the fastest" is what i said... i'd like to see you do it! =P |
ANOXIA! That's all i gotta say,OK OK Everyone else was awesome too,but holy shit man!! |
had a good time at the show pissed i missed Cryptic Warning, and Fall of Decrepitude i wanted to check out pauls new band i did get e C.W. cd i'll give it a spin to day later
saw 3 songs of Teratism always killer
tyag we awsome
ascendancy rawked new song sounded very cool
anoxia kicked ass very cool stuff indeed
malignancy well need i say more they rule.
i like he bombshelter why do the good clubs have to be 2 hours from my house dammit the folks there were very cool plenty of room for equeptment and setting um
thanks to terence and ascendancy for having us play we did 2 shows that day and i was sortta beat but i think we did ok hope we can play there again
great show, worth the trip!
a dreadful poopstorm made me miss the first four bands, sorry guys!
I hope to see this shit go down more often (sorry about the bad pun) |
i wish i could have made it. i blew all my money on friday and didn't have 10 bucks to get in. :( if the bombshelter made the sunday shows 5 bucks i think more people would go. this is the second sunday bombshelter show in a row i've wanted to see but didn't have any cash. blast all to hell. |
naw kelly, it should be FREE for ladies 21 and over...i dunno why they do that friday and saturday night only.... booo
ps: Todd rules! |
The bomb shelter's pretty cool place, plenty of room for band equipment and people...but the sound blows, very raw and dirty. The mix was'nt that bad(its not the soundmans fault) its the clubs poor microphone selection/pa. Overall good show(minus turnout) thanks to terance for putting on a death show.
And why did malignancy get their set cut sooo short? |
Fuckin killer show last nite...so proud to have been a part of it!!!till next time...keep bringin the kill.Rob of teratism....terance you rule |
holy shit! terence is an awesome dude, what a fun show! the turnout kinda sucked, but at least the crowd was quality people (sans the mallrats and dreadlocked wannabe-singer). Every band there fucking killed, and if you didnt pick up Teratism's CD or Cryptic Warning's demo, you should kill yourself. soooooooooooooooooo good. I didnt get to say bye to everyone i wanted to, since we had to book it back to providence for midnight....so if i missed you, im sorry, you know i luvs ya. |
fucking amazing show. the turnout was less than spectacular though. i missed fall of decrepitude, too bad. i wouldve liked to have heard them. cryptic warning was great, even better than the last time i saw them with shroud. its good to see some people keeping the old school thrash flame alive. teratism is quickly becoming my favorite band in the area. aaron, i told you they had a dying fetus feel to them. tyag rocked it hard, it was good to see more movement from them. ascendancy played too short, but the new song was sick. i havent heard anoxia for years, but damn they were better than i had previously known. boe also played kinda short, but was great cus i could hear everything, something that i sometimes miss in their sets. but malignancy tore it up more than i have ever seen from them. easily the best live sound i have ever heard in their extremely short (lame) set. you wanna know why their live sound was so damn good? two words:
POD PRO. |
dying fetus cause of the dual singers.
thats why. |
good sucking up Carina ,I like that |
hahaha why do you say that?
you are always so nice... <3 |
In my opinion, the show went well, only for the sole purpose of Malignancy feeling satisfied with the way I treated them, other then that it was close to one of the shitiest shows that I have put on. Maybe its the Bombshelter in NH, or maybe people just dont care. I just dont know. On a silly/lighter note this past friday someone told me that they arent going to this show cause they had free pay-per-view on Sundays...go figure.
To all the bands that i couldnt pay, Im sorry, I lost a shitload of money, and couldnt afford to lose more, sorry if it left a bad taste in anyones mouths. As far as set times, Aaron, you are correct, there werent enough beers being sold and enough people there, so they wanted to leave early, giving Malignancy and BOE 20 minute set times.
Well, its over with, Malignancy are probably the best fucking DM band in America at this point, at least in my opinion, they are also probably the nicest guys on the friggin planet, and they deserved much better.
As far as the Bombshelter, well, everyone can say goodbye to a venue that once allowed metal shows, unless bands want to sell tickets, which just isnt going to happen. I could go on further, but I wont. later everyone, maybe in a few months time I'll set up something that people will want to go to .
I was waiting for terence to post.
such an amazing show and people are to fucking lazy to get off their fucking asses and go.
fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck
I am completely disillusioned with all metal bands and fans.
that's it, fuck metal, I'm only going to hardcore shows form now on. |
Terence dont worry about the money man, this is DM and getting payed is just the fun of playing out to kids who enjoy the music. Whether the crowd is 10 kids or 1000 kids its still fun to play metal. Sunday was one of the best days ive had in a really really long time. So horns up to terence and the rest of ascendency for putting this show on. Keep it brutal |
the_reverend said: I'm only going to hardcore shows form now on. |
Me too. And I don't even like "harcore." |
My take on everything:
All the bands played really well, everyone put a lot into their sets for a rather undersized crowd. The sound was alright, the sound guy was fairly new, and a drummer, so the drums were louder than the music for every band, as were the vocals.
Malignancy are officially the fucking nicest band ever, very understanding and very cooperative. Can I get a discounted ticket to Sick as Sin so I can see just them and RK then get away from the rest of the crap on that show? (no offense to any local bands on there that I don't know are playing, only nationals are listed on the site and the list disappoints me)
Like Terence said, this was the last leg for big metal at the Bomb Shelter as far as we're concerned. Someone petition the Palladium to let us book upstairs, then maybe fat fucking lazy stupid metal asses will go to a fucking show because it's "at the Palladium and that's the only place shows exist."
Hey, fuck metal. |
how many times did I see XXX band from europe with 20 people upstairs?
a bunch. |
the bomb shelter is pissing me off i had to pay ten bucks just to pass out flyers for a show that is being held there but they got the slow decay of time there start so i am thankful for that anoxia took the cake as far as that show went need some help with the sound guy there to |

the return to the pit show is about to start so grab the damn popcorn |
no one cares enough about metal in NE to go to shows. im starting an ultra generic hardcore band so people can come to my bands shows. i know DOM is with me. either that or TYAG is moving to europe. |
hard core unfortinatly is just a bunch of tuff guys now ......but love the break downs |
no... the breakdowns arent even good. |
its all how u do it but i hate that ''metalcore'' catagory |
the bombshelter is starting to show signs of jarrodism...
forever carved was talking about "having to sell XXX tickets".
sucks, i've seen a bunch of good shows there and I hope it doesn't go down in flames... |
know i just hope the damn sound guy goes down in flames |
the sound for FOD was great... everyone else, I was too close to really hear and since their sets were so short, I didn't have time to step back and enjoy |
Like I said, drum and vocal heavy. Up close was the only place you could really hear the guitars and bass.
I guess I'm back to 'hate everything'-mode. |
heres a few random thoughts
1.real monitors and better mic's (shure sm48 work real good at half what a sm58 costs it's what doug and i always use) and definantly a drum monitor
2. you can only get some many people to come to a show relying on JUST the bands promoting * the club needs to take out ad's in some of the local music rags and the boston phenoix
3. selling tickets is ok in my opinion as long as it's not counted against the band for future shows (jarrods keeps a computer file like that) the palladium gives the tix to you and say do the best you can(some shows i had no problem selling em others i couldn't have gave em away) in the end i'd rather wory about playing rather than OMG did we sell enough tix(theres a club in haverhill that requirs that when opening for national headliners you sell a mandatory 50 or some stupid# or you can't play*jarrods told me this also* )
4. clean up the stage lose the lights in the box if they arn't serving a purpose why have em there
4. back line all the bands amps in advance and take em off as the bands go along the only thing the should be going on the stage in between bands should be the drums unless there is absolutly no room to do this this should always be done you'd be surprised at how much time this would save
the bomb shelter has great potential of being a top n.e. club just the rough edges need to be ironed out

i heard that jarrod deals coke to under aged girls in return for sexual favors |
how else would that troll get laid

he is no troll, trolls are tall.
he is what we call a goblin.
jim, if there is anything I know, it's creatures of legend.

I also heard about that, and that they take photo's of the girls "lude acts" and put them on "pay for" porno web sites.
joe's got his copy of the fiend folio |
it's going to be funny when that goblin gets arrested and then beaten up in jail |
i eat sm48's
yay he likes it!! |

Every band that played were excellent, Im glad that they all could come up, esp. Fall of Decrepitude who really impressed me. A simple thank you really goes a long way. Im glad that all bands, including Malignancy were understanding about how bad the turnout for the show was.
It looks like my only hope (unfortunately) is Club Marquee in Worcester for holding another show like this. All clubs in Boston just email me back saying that "they have never heard of these bands" or that they dont know of their sales base. Which is fine, that is how they operate their business. Maybe theres a good venue in Rhode Island that i could get in touch with.
This has been the 3rd failed show in a row that I have set up. I just dont get whats wrong with metal people...the whole "my band isnt playing so i wont go" mentality really has to stop. Obviously im not in it to make a profit, but to help a lazy scene here in NE. THis has only made me angrier and kept me motivated to succeed, and to prove myself wrong.
If anyone knows of a good club, in MA, or RI, that has a sound system, with all ages policies, please let me know, because im not gonna stop until this bullshit ends, and I want to give bands who want exposure a fucking chance.
hmm--Terence have you considered some of the local campuses? Granted it's been well over a decade since I put on a concert at Emerson but I remember they were proud moments for me, had decent turnout, and the bands shredded like fuck. Certain pitfalls abound, but if you want I can tell of what I went through--
didn't Seth go to Emerson too? I'll bet some of the guys at WERS would love to have Ascendancy play at the Caf!
if you've already gone this route though please forgive my naivete!
it aint exactly a revenue magnet but win new fans, sell some merch? |
terence go onto AIM, i need to talk with you |
joe, give me a few minutes... |
yeah a thousand thanks for putting us on that show Terence. All the bands were awesome. I just wish I could have seen the first 2 bands. I was looking forward to seeing Paul's band too. I keep fucking missing them. :( Doing two shows in one day isn't as bad as I thought it would be though.
And about the scene stuff... It seems like the best shows that I've been to have had nobody there. Fucked up. |
haha when I see this pic it makes me think...
Considering this was FOD's first "real" show i'd say it went pretty well minus that piss poor turnout. Other than that it was fun just to play and see Malignancy later on in the night. Ever since the palladium stopped booking death metal tours like death across america and bloodletting, it's really gone downhill for DM shows in the NE region. |
Sounds like Terrence needs a hug or something, you tried we advertised, flyered, whatever, people around here are just fuckin lame,as far as advertising for something like that on the radio, there is none in this area that play DM except aaron's show, i'm sure he plugged it,although i have not listened to his show in a while, i'm never on that night ,to listen. DM shows never really worked at Chantilly's either if you remember so it's not just you or the bombshelter, its NH in general
I think it's most places in general.
metal people are fucking lazy! |
actually, people who post here and listen to my show for the most part aren't lazy...
it's all the other people.
so I'm not about to preach to the choir. |
it's fucked though, most of the people on here don't even listen to the radio show, as far as I know. I can cut some slack for the Malignancy show because it was a shorter time frame to work with and we didn't flyer any pallidium shows. where bloodletting we flyered several shows and even promoted it on fucking nasty habits with a two live sets (first time they ever did that). if anyone collects flyers like myself I'm sure you have a bloodletting one! oh well. what doesn't kill me makes me stronger. |
BornSoVile said: oh well. what doesn't kill me makes me stronger. |
More like what doesnt kill me makes me stronger, Im the one taking all the hits Josh. But i know what you mean. I think the fact that the show did so poorly was cause it was in NH, since most of the people who paid to get in where from MA, or even RI.
Whatever though, Im not gonna make bands sell tickets to people for a show they wont even go to. Thats like asking someone for money. I'll probably either get a crappy venue and rent a PA or do a DIY show or something.
We basically have two complete medium PAs already. If you get a dirt cheap venue we have enough gear to take care of just about anything, we'll just need to steal a bigger car and maybe a couple mic stands. |
right, I thought about that actually... we're gonna need longer chords though...and a bigger boat... |
I have two 100 foot speaker cables if we need em.
That means they're like this |- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -| long. |

ok, i'm guessing aaron is invited too, just pass me the gravol so i don't get naucious
Pass you some gravel? I think there's some gravel washed up in my hull. |
dude, trust me, if i lived in that area, i so would have been there. man that shit pisses me off so much. ATTENTION METAL HEADS!!! FAILURE TO ATTEND METAL SHOWS RESULTS IN YOUR FAVORITE BANDS BEING UNABLE TO AFFORD THEIR NEXT STUDIO RECORDING!!!! IF YOU GIVE A SHIT AT ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC YOU LISTEN TO, BUY THE BANDS' CDS, AND ATTEND THEIR CONCERTS WHEN THEY COME TO YOUR AREA. THIS IS WHY BACK IN THE MID 90'S PEOPLE SAID METAL WAS DEAD. WELL GET OFF YOUR FAT LAZY ASSES AND BRING IT BACK TO LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
terence i'm in 2 bands, when either one is ready to play out we should talk about playing together, either in NE or NJ. we could get a pretty good turnout in this area, mainly cause my drummer in one band is still in high school and he's been getting word out about the band |
yeah one of your bands is played every damned week on RTTP |
Terence said: On a silly/lighter note this past friday someone told me that they arent going to this show cause they had free pay-per-view on Sundays...go figure. |
if i were u, i would have shot him dead right there. the only reasonable excuse for metalheads to not go to a metal show is because you have work, family emergency, or something extremely important that HAD to be taken care of. i'm sick of this "i don't have money" bullshit. you mean to tell me you don't have ten fucking dollars? that's pathetic.
succubus said: yeah one of your bands is played every damned week on RTTP |
unfortunately that's the band without the drummer. so it might be a while (or another album) before Kalopsia can play out. but my other band Damnatory is progressing very well and we plan to be ready to play out by the end of march, demo and all. |

haha...the best part was that he lived about 20 minutes away from the venue. Im definitely up for trading shows, i havent anything in the works now though. We can talk soon, I just need to get something going again, and plan around what went wrong the last time. |
thanks John. I really appreciate you coming up to the shows, and supporting the scene. We'll see what happens in the future. |
Just get most of the bands to TRY and sell tickets, it doesn't have to be mandatory, but it could make a big difference.
Fuck tickets--thats gay, i would not sell tickets for local shows.( 1-25-04 proves this, that show had all bands from the same area, minus malig.. And no one came. And why was no one drinking????) Now if you had like a headliner that draws, then do the tickets. I would like to do a DIY extreme metal show in RI in the spring, but i got to find a place first.
Terrance, i would like to put you guys on, due to the fact that you got some "drive", what some metal bands around here are missing.

blortch! |

it sucks that drinking is even a factor here like you mentioned handinjury. why does booz have to determine if a show is doing well or not, i don't go to a metal show to get drunk, i go to watch metal. there was one drunk guy there passed out, he was really enjoying the show i bet. i got a good pic of him which reminds me, thanks for all the photographic prowess aaron and carina, you guys rule and you're dedication is unparralelled. and terence, thanks for the show, i still had a great time and ascendancy kick ass. i won't lose faith as i know you won't either. metal is too important to us and everyone here. there will be other shows, we will figure out a way to make it better. |
hey dave,
thanks for the props and for spelling my name right
your welcome carina, anytime. i didn't even realize there was another way to spell your name though. I was wondering, how did the band photos you took of us come out? |
pretty good!
you want me to email them?
how about yours? |
anoxia is also my dad--you guys are awesome as ever |
there are a couple of good ones on my camera, but i still have not got home to my computer from the show believe it or not to look at them. I've been visiting family. looks like some good pics of ascendancy. also, i got some nice action photos of you taking pics if you want them. use this email addy for the pics mutinydav@aol.com. thanks |
thanks Larissa, now go clean you're room.
just a joke on the dad thing |
i like it messy! |
rarr!
dave I gotta e-mail you about recording, if you're still doing that stuff |
yeah sure, recording is what i do. is it you're new metal band? |
yeah new gameplan is the record a few of the better songs and pitch it to potential lead players. so yeah I have you in mind for just such artistry!
I'll e-you about it after we discuss it at practice |
Thanks Larissa, you are awesome for coming to our shows, and to handinjury, we would love to play any show that you would like to have us on, let us know whenever its in the works...and thanks to daveanoxia, you guys kick ass, we'll be doing shows together soon, I guarantee! |

but ok i will send them yer way

just my way of saying "Yipee! Hooray!" |

i can't wait terence, we will play shows with you guys anytime. and carina, i just looked at the photos of you, you didn't break my camera or anything. lol. they mostly show you with a camera sticking out of your face. female ross halfin on the job. |

hmmm well i'm glad i didn't break it..i remember telling you that i would
hahahahaha |

Well dave if you and everybody else was drinking and the bomb shelter was actually making money....we could of seen maligancy play a whole set. Now weres those riffs ive been waiting for?????????????????????
clubs make their money from the bar, if you dont drink then either start or buy coca cola.
if at all asia, o'briens, the chopping block or the middle east the show brings alot of people but the bar doesn't do well, then you can count on them being wary of bringing those bands back |
don't blame me
I voted kodos. |
yeah don't blame aaron he buys me drinks |

I bought a damn pizza and a soda because I could see they weren't selling much. |
