I have a sense of humor; a slight one, but one nonetheless. I just think this show drags, the humor isn't top-notch, and the show is stale. The few times I've watched it, I laughed probably once or twice.
As far as the metal thing goes, I think it is destroying some of the roots of metal and making a mockery of the whole genre. Something that IS funny, was a (Danish I think) commercial that had a bunch of Venom fans rocking out, then leaving and coming back to find their friend dancing around in girl clothes. That stuff is funny. Dethklock is not so funny. I love cartoons and humor and metal, and if I was to make a cartoon, I wouldn't make fun of metal. Unless it was Immortal's wintermoon video.

no, i'm with you. i don't get the hype. i mean yeah its amusing, waka waka, a sarcastic approach to metal, but i just don't care for it. i think its an ok idea, it just hasn't ever grabbed me.

that pretty much sums up exactly how i feel about this show. it was a way to cash in on the fact that the metal genre has become a commercialized wasteland.

the first few episodes of the show weren't that funny, but once it hit its stride it got really funny. i don't really like seeing goofy alt-rock fans who wear nerd glasses getting into it for its irony and making metal jokes all the time, but i have way too many important things i'm worrying about to care about who is watching the show for irony and mocking metal. when it comes to tv, i want the shows i like to get wildly popular. that keeps them on the air.

the show is hit or miss. a lot of the dialogue cracks me the fuck up, and the guitar playing is really good on a lot of the music. by far not my favorite show, but I like it nonetheless.

A small part of me wanted to like this show and still does. The show is 15 minutes long and usually only pays off 2 or 3 times per episode, if that.

i like this show a lot. how can anybody thats into metal hate a show about a badass metal band? oh, and tim and eric awesome show great job is good as well.

the show's decent, a few humorous moments each episode, but nothing special. the music's pretty average, too. but yeah, there's more than enough real metal bands that one can laugh at for being ridiculous. why make a fake one?

I just remember someone talking about dethklok and how they loved it and loved metal. and I asked what other bands they liked and.... well, you don't want to know.

I know so many people like this. It saddens me so.

Actually, I asked one friend a few months back if they were going to the Dethklok show and she answered, "Hell yeah! I wouldn't miss it for the world!" and when she asked me if I was going, I responded with "I wouldn't be caught dead there." I haven't spoken to her since then.

that irks me so much. to me, Dethklok writes easy metal. sure it may groove, and it may take talent to perform it, but it has absolutely no depth or heart. its music for the sake of making music, which is an atrocity.

The biggest problem with death metal fans and bands is that they take themselves way too seriously. Just look at band photos... always with the dark clothes, folded arms, serious faces, etc.

I think that's the point the writers are trying to make.... how absurd metal bands and their music and lyrics and fans can be.

If you can't watch Dethklok without thinking "they're making fun of death metal and I don't like it", then you need to get over yourself.

As far as the younger kids go... who cares what they like? If Dethklok is turning them on to heavy music, then good. let them figure out what to like and not like, instead of joining in with the giant fucking cliche that metal has become.

Brendan Small is hilarious and as a metal fan himself, he found a way to exploit it and make $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and that's all it's about, that's why he made a live band out of it.

I'll take Home Movies any day over this show. But the theme of this show is making fun of metal, and sometimes I can't help but laugh at it. I wouldn't call myself a fan and the music is a joke, and I haven't seen this show in a couple years. It got old and annoying pretty fast.

aril, backed, i haven't had cable so much of what's on adultswim lately passed me by, but i saw a recent episode of ATHF and i used to love that show, not sure what happened but i think the character shtick just got old and i was bored.. I think T&E is pure genius though and I've been spreading around that show since I first saw it, people love it or hate it, and the ones that hate it in my experience are either not too bright (which they will readily admit) or just undesirable and I wouldn't associate with them anyway. Not a scientific study or anything but I think that's pretty funny. I saw an old episode of Kids in the Hall and realized how much of an influence they must be on T&E. For me the best comedy shows out there are T&E, Venture Bros, Arrested Development...most adultswim stuff just doesn't do it for me anymore. /rant..wow back to work...

It goes beyond at cartoon at this point. I was against it when I first heard about it before it even aired.
The fact that it's now a "live" band with real members (quite respected ones as well) and does tours and releases albums just tells me they are exploiting metal for $$$$$$.

I've onbly seen afew episodes of this show and have the album on my laptop.
Funny stuff often and the music is ok for what it is.
But it does bother me a bit that the album sold big. More than the Metal they joke about. (so I've been told) Go figure the only Metal that sells that much would be bought buy people who only understand half the humor on that show.

At the end of my life could I really look back and be proud of selling out my integrity and individuality? I also agree that we do need both metaphysical (spiritual, call it whatever you want) satisfaction and a certain amount of wealth. In life we need money to buy food, etc, because we aren't resourceful and don't grow our own. That's just one example of the necessity of money. We were born into this, so we have to work with what we've been given. I believe we just haven't been able to reconcile the above mentioned, and we do need to strike a delicate balance between both, without heavily relying upon wealth and materialism as a means of gratification.
