The Supreme Court!!!

there goes the power of one vote

Yea. I just heard about this. It's pretty absurd.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jan 21,2010 9:42pm edited Jan 21,2010 9:45pm
I just read more into this.

This is horrible fucking news. HORRIBLE. Corporations can fund anyone they want and this limits private donations. It takes power away from the people.

We are owned by corporations. George Soros owns the US.
This is a fucking disgrace and and should be enough to warrant protests.

The mainstream media won't dwell on this and it'll be gone before anyone knew it happened. Our country has been robbed and bought out.

Ladies and gentlemen, America is dead. We aren't free.

I think if it gets out to people they will, but man come one GIVE MONEY TO HAITI!

Corporations are not people. This is an absurd decision.

toggletoggle post by ernie at Jan 23,2010 1:42am
this is a good decision. . the argument is freedom of information at any cost. the only people at risk of buying into corporate propaganda is you, alreadybrainwashed. you have it completely backwards. stop and think about what you are saying for a minute.

corporations are people the same way our government is. its only a problem when they dont follow the rules. its clearly written in the constitution and bill of rights. please read it before you keep spreading crap like this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Amendme...t_to_the_United_States_Constitution

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

if you can't see the corruption within coproations and the fact that this country has been bought out, best of luck to ya in the future boiy.
i know the constitution, and can see your argument. If you're such an avid believer in the constitution and the bill of rights, certainly you must enjoy watching it burn before your eyes as each day passes. corporate interests far exceed any power the people have; CEOs and others of their stature run this country now.
if you want a corporate-sponsered candidate or election, be my guest. Surely they will arrive in a stock car rather than a tour bus.

with any action ruled, there are pros and cons. The cons of this decision far exceed the pros in my opinion, and only justify the fact that the middle class is dwindling away, as major corporatons rape is. My father worked for enron and lost all of his savings; I will refuse to watch these currupt murdoffs, lays, soroses etc. given more power than they already have.

so.... no gay marriage is forcing someone else's religious beliefs on the homos.

This country is going to be run by coke in the next 20 years. It's gonna be like brawndo in idiocracy.

"It will undoubtedly help Republican candidates since corporations have generally supported Republican candidates more."

Goodie.

http://www.movetoamend.org/

We, the People of the United States of America, reject the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in Citizens United, and move to amend our Constitution to:

Firmly establish that money is not speech, and that human beings, not corporations, are persons entitled to constitutional rights.

Guarantee the right to vote and to participate, and to have our votes and participation count.

Protect local communities, their economies, and democracies against illegitimate "preemption" actions by global, national, and state governments.

Signing online petitions is always effective.

Not really, but it's more effective than doing nothing but complain.

It takes power away from the people.

These people vote based on what the voices on TV tell them.

It's corporate power anyway.

The real problem is that 90% of this society lack the brains/wisdom to vote in anything but a throwaway, us-versus-them manner.

taking everything everyone on the tv says with a grain of salt, including our most trusted government

also, becoming edumacated, took American gov and Constitutional history classes last semester.

which brings me to the point. how the fuck is a corporation a person and spending more money freedom of speech?

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jan 24,2010 10:19am
Corporate interests should stay out of politics. Look at Raytheon and halliburton. They made so much money off the Iraq invasion. modern Warfare is a good way to spend money, but only to see it flow back to corporations that do business there. Why do you think dick Cheney was so eager to invade? Profit and greed supercede morals and constitutionality. giving more power to the elite is not what we want. But, Ass Hole is right. Most presidential candidates are hand picked by the elite regardless.
I just don't think this will help America, specifically the working class. The bridge between the working class and elite corporations just got longer

check out the thread about obama I posted, he actually denounces the courts decision on the defense of protecting our votes, he wins one point with me for that, still puts him at the bottom though, still above cheney though haah.

Most people are airheads.

As long as that's the case, democracy is going to hand power over to assholes.

Hollywood is no different than any other corporation, but somehow, the left forget to mention them.

Things to ponder...
